  1. I think the Rams are the most likely. First, they are having stadium issues. Second, they are originally an LA team even before the Raiders. Third, they left LA because there was too much competition with the Raiders for seats.

As far as the Bills, it won't happen until Wilson passes away, and even then, there will be pressure from the politicians to keep the Bills in Western New York. Plus, the Bills always sell out.

  2. Honestly, I would be upset if they draft a player totally on need. I have no problem with the team drafting defense in the first round in the offensive player is not available. Spiller will be there, but they have drafted a lot of running backs in the first round, and how has that worked out for the team. Really, they should reach for a player who likely a bust for something they view as a need? This is exactly what they did with Maybin last year!!!! How did that work out?

You know that they know what they are getting with Morgan in the first round. Plus, we know from the Super Bowl that the team needs pass rushers. They can get an offensive tackle in the second. There are a lot of offensive tackles that are available, but there are also a lot of team that need offensive tackles and there are a lot of offensive tackles who have big time bust potential, Cambell, Davis, even Bulaga. What this team needs is another bust at offensive tackle with a top ten pick, hooray!!!!

I will be very excited if they draft Morgan, Dan Williams, etc, because we will know that they are drafting the best player available instead of reaching for a need position.

  3. The secondary should be excellent. Juran made sure to draft enough players, so I think that if the front seven can get pressure, the Bills secondary will be good. The Bills need help at linebacker; hopefully, Maybin will fit is more natural position at outside linebacker. Poz is good if he can stay healthy. They could use more impact players here. The defensive line should be excellent if they can find a legitmate NT. Stroud is good, the other DTs were undersized, but that should help with the move to DE in a 3-4.

If Marshawn wasn't a nucklehead, they would be set at running back. TE seems to be in all right shape. They have one starting wide receiver. I think Lee Evans is still a number one, and he has been hampered by quarterback play. If this wasn't true then TO number wouldn't have dropped off. The offensive line needs help, but the is some young talent.

The Bills need a franchise quarterback, but I'm glad that they finally filled their two biggest needs this off season, a legimate general manager and a legimate NFL head coach.

  4. Honestly, I have no idea where Clausen will go. Watching Tebow play, I thought he looked really good. If Clausen is a better prospect than Tebow, he could be a good prospect for the Bills. Of course, I'm no expert. I would just hate it, hate it if he turned in someone like Phillip Rivers, and the Bills are still bringing in guys like RJ and JP. How long is it going to be?

  5. The Jests are obviously trying to pick up as many big name free agents as possible to make a run at the Super Bowl for this year. Miami is just trying to play catch up. Miami is giving up a lot for him, and I don't think he would make the Bills any better.

If you want to know what the league will be like without a salary cap. It is obvious with this year. The New York teams are going to try to get every big name player that they can. It will stink.

As far as character, I think it is much better to have high character guys on the team. It is a question of do you want players you can root for or do you want to root for a winning team. In the end, I think they are basically the same.

  6. I read the whole transcript, and I think his comments on left tackle are a smoke-screen or at least they are not going to reach for a need. Nix did make the statement that they need a strong offensive line:

"If we got some deficiencies in some areas, which we do, not as many as everybody thinks probably, but if we build a strong defense and a strong front offensive line we can keep adding some talent and that way we’ll stay good for awhile."

He mentioned in the past that a team cannot have enough good offensive linemen.

I think they could draft Derrick Morgan with the first pick.

Lastly, I think they are going to trade Marshawn if they can get a decent draft pick in return. I think they would just assume moving on. Hopefully, they pick up James Starks in the later rounds. They will be drafting wide receiver in the later rounds.

  7. Personally, I'm not worried that the Bills did not make this trade. The Bills need to focus on developing a high character team. There is a lot of movement for players with character problems. Any of the players are not going to improve this team, just look at what TO did, and he is a high character guy compared to some of these guys. The Bills need to develop the core of the team which means they need to find a franchise quarterback and build up the offensive and defensive lines.

  8. 1) Clausen

    2) Roger Saffold

    3) Torrell Troup

I think the best offensive tackles are off the board. Unless someone wants to say that Trent Edwards is the quarterback of the future, they need to draft a quarterback. Quarterback is a risk, but until the Bills have a quarterback they must draft a quarterback. They do not know when they will have the opportunity again. There will always be offensive tackles available. There may not be quarterbacks available.

  9. The point that is really frustrating about Marshawn Lynch was the fact that Levy made a really big deal about character evaluation, and Lynch had real character questions before the draft. In fact, the reason the Bills can't trade him is because of character concerns. He has not only gotten in trouble twice, but he is pouting about not starting. This is so much better than Willis McGahee, which I do not remember ever having hit and run problems, drug and gun charges. Great job Levy.

If Holmes is going for a fifth rounder, what can the Bills get. Lynch is going to be carrying a clipboard until he grows up, the Bill cut him, or his contract expires.

It is so frustrating. Oh, Lynch is an inner-city diva who thinks just because he has talent playing football he is entitled to do whatever he wants. He's the anti-Thurman Thomas!

  10. I think it all depends on who is available. However, if the top three offensive tackles are not available then Clausen should be the choice, without question. The last great quarterback the Bills have had was Kelly. This would be the highest that they've drafted a quarterback as long as I can remember. I'm really sick of the third round, second round, and first round (who should have been second round) quaterbacks.

The talk about attitidute is making me sick because I remember it was the same reason that Done-a-ho drafted Mike Williams over McKinnie

If they reach for an offensive tackle just to fill a need, like they did with Lynch (Didn't Levy say that they were going to take character into account during that draft, which was why I was completely surprised by that draft choice?, sorry should be different thread). I'm going to go into morning. :wallbash:

The Bills have so many needs, and quarterback has been a bigger and longer need than Left Tackle. They need to do everything in their power to get a franchise quarterback. In fact, it would not bother me at all if they draft Clausen, Trent steps up and Clausen is a bust.

  11. I think the best strategy for the Bills would be to follow what the Jets did last year. First, build up the offensive line and give them a chance to jell. Second, trade up to get a franchise quarterback. My biggest concern is that the Bills are going to not improve the offensive line, and the Bills will be right back where they are now with Trent Edwards. They are definitely a couple of years away.

  12. "There are many reasons for the price explosion, but a critical factor has been the ability of businesses to write off tickets as entertainment expenses — essentially a huge, and wholly unnecessary, government subsidy. "

First, when has been the before tax dollars are a subsidy? If they tax entertainment expenses, it will certainly decrease the amount of money available to the Yankees. I doubt it will have too much effect on the Bills.

Second, Yankee tickets are expensive because there is so much money in New York. Personally, I believe that the root cause of increased prices has more to do with the fact that the games are more popular than ever, the population of the United States is larger so demand is greater, and that the population as a whole (up until the last two years) has been more properous.

Third, the biggest rip off is not the entertainment expense but the State subsidies to build stadiums in the Bronx and Queens. New York City property taxes are very low. How about having the local property taxes pay for those stadiums.

Lastly, we should be looking at the subsidies for university professors. They receive a lot of perks, including free tuition for their children, reduced teaching schedules, too much time doing private research, as well as obsene amount of vacation time. Frankly, the inflation in tuition is a much bigger issue than sporting events.

  13. Washington has a new coach and that usually means getting a new "guy" at the QB position, if it is not solid. I wonder what this kid would be like if he had an offensive coordinator for more than a season at a time, was not considered a lame duck playing for a lame duck HC and actually was given a vote of confidence, which he hasn't had since college.

I laugh at a lot of crap here when people say this player and that player suck. The bottom line is: is player x or player y an upgrade? If so, then you make a move, then supplement your FA signings in the draft. JC would be an upgrade at QB. Flozell Adams would be an upgrade at RT. Sign both, draft a LT (if one available) or a NT at 9, then get line depth in the later rounds. Hell, I'd even draft Tebow in the 2nd, put him behind Campbell and maybe Fitz for a year. The kid is a competitor.

This isn't an exact science, but we can take steps to get a lot better. Our defense was actually not so bad last year and they kept us in games to the 4th quarter. If we can get some offensive consistency, it will make the defense even better.

I guess I get sick of hearing this player is crap or that player is crap when you have to look at a lot more than just wins and losses. Get Jason Campbell, tell him he's the man and see what happens. Give the kid a stable environment and tools to work through the draft (with o-line priority #1).

The same could be said of Trent Edwards, and he didn't miss short passes.

  14. We all know that he will not be the left tackle for the next 10 years; however, I think he would be a terrific stop-gap so that the Bills can develop a tackle behind him.

For example, the Bills could sign a left tackle in the second round and a later round, see how wins the competition while not having the quarterback's bones ground to dust.

  15. I'm more inclinded to want Derrick Morgan, but if the Bills select Iupati they could move one of the guys from last year to center. If they could draft Charles Brown in the second round, that would be great. They need a lot of help, and the more players they are able to draft the better chance they will inprove the overall talent level of the team.

  16. On the one hand, the Bills need to stock up on wide receiver talent. In order to be a play-off team they will eventually need to draft several wide receivers early in the draft over the next several years.

On the other hand, the Bills desperately need to bolster both the offensive and defensive lines. Since the offensive lineman take more time to develop. The Bills should draft those players this year and wait till next year to draft wide receivers.
