1.   In general, it's a team that lacks character on the field and has no identity. Methinks TD made another mistake when he thought changing head coaches would make these guys a more mentally tough team.  They are veterans and they is what they is,  and it wouldn't bother me a bit if they put a fuse on this roster, lit it and started from expansion.  Don't like watching them play and despite ample talent there isn't a player on the roster who really rises to the occasion and deserves admiration.  Plenty of talent, not enough heart.

That was the worst thing about last year's team, I really hope you're wrong & we see otherwise once the season starts.

Any revert to last year re: effort would be totally unacceptable.

I'll take a 0-16 team with heart over a 6-10 team with no heart.

2. Doug Flutie is the answer to the obvious question. Think about it even if you hate his entire digestive system. We don't need to groom someone. We don't need a guy to go out there and win games by himself. We do need a sparkplug veteran who can mask the problems of the offensive line when it rears its ugly head. He is not going to divide the locker room like he did before. He can be a caretaker if Drew goes down for a few plays or games. He can learn an offense fast. He can be a slash player that MM likes. He won't cost a lot. He likely gets cut now that Rivers is signed and playing. He's not a threat to Drew or Losman or Travis Brown. It's POSSIBLE that we can win with him when the defense is good and we have all these weapons.

So go ahead, flame away, say no way in hell, but he is probably the best answer to a short term problem.

Kinda makes sense, and weirder things have happened...

I think the question is would Ralph support it?

3. Another nice report!

After the drive back to Fort Wayne
Fort Wayne rocks! Better party town than Indy.

Mike Williams and Chris Villarial aren't clicking at all.  When one zigs the other zags.  Big trouble.
First Pucillo, now Chris V. When is MW gonna finally get some help from his left side? :)

Willis McGahee is not ready for prime time.  He hits the holes and runs with power, but has no speed or burst.  None at all.  Not a bit.  Plus, he put the ball on the carpet once.
I don't think the fumble was all his fault.

What happened to Coy Wire's tackling???  He can still hit, and he's around the ball, but he can't tackle to save his life.  Two plays later he makes the pick.  With Malloy out, maybe he makes the team.  Otherwise, hit the road.
But he had a pick, WOW! :) Still, I think Prioleau starts if Lawyer isn't ready.

Few penalties... a great thing.

Agreed.

4. Nice report. :)

Mike Williams looked awful.  I watched Teague get into a argument over an assignment with big Mike.  This is going to sound dumb but I really just did not like the way Williams reacted.  I look at some players and they have all the ability in the world but no heart. Mike Williams has no heart.  He is not a winner.  I am done with him. Moving him to guard will not help.  frankly, I would bench him.  I would bench him for several weeks.  I would be all over him if I was Jim McNally.  He would sit in my dog house until I saw some heart.  He looked fat and slow.  I would have Eric Moulds move in with him because Eric trained 7 hours a day instead of the 7 hours all offseason that Big Mike put in.

:)

Oh and i know.  It was one preseason game.  No biggie.

We are not billsfanone.  However, we are still not a playoff team.

This team has a great deal of skill.  We lack ability in the trenches.  From what I saw today.  7-9, 8-8, 9-7 is what we look like.

Agreed. I've felt this way all year, especially with a rookie HC. 8-8 sounds right... but the team has to play with heart.

The QB situation does not look good.  I would call a few teams that need a WR and offer Shaw for a decent third string QB.  Not sure who yet.

I don't wish injury on anyone, especially one of the Bills, but TB is no #2 QB.

It could be a major improvement if TD can pick up a real #2 QB like Shane Matthews, Charlie Batch, or even Rich Gannon cheap.... hold down the fort until JP comes back & is ready.

5. Bump this up....

...and I agree. Far as I know, if they put him on IR, he can't practice with the team at ALL this season. Yeah, that extra roster spot would be nice to have available, but looking at the long-term view, I'd rather have my QB-of-the-future be able to start getting reps ASAP than worry about keeping a bottom-of-the-roster guy around.

9607

Yep... I want him ready to start next year, not in 2006.

If nothing else, get him reps this year, and (I know this is hard, but) somehow have a vet QB lined up in case DB & TB get hurt/can't cut it.

6. The thing is though, if you are willing to make a credit card payment, why not just use PAYPAL.  youd rather give your CC # to one of us?  Paypal is a secure server... I just don't get peoples aversion to the site. Its so damn easy to use.

8965

No doubt. Paypal is a breeze, too easy.

7. I Love It!!!

"He's always been a semi-safe player, thinking "If I get beat . . .' " Bills defensive coordinator Jerry Gray of Reese.

"I don't want a player on the field thinking of getting beat. I want you to think about making a play.

If you make a mistake, make it 100 miles per hour. We can correct that.

I don't know if Reese is the answer, but I'll drink to more plays on D...

last year's bend-but-don't-break philosophy just didn't cut it at all...

hope JG is serious about this.

8. Sorry....knew a Dan Florio at college.   <_<

Here's a good one from today. Damn he's connected with a lot of insiders :o , but I agree with this one. :(

MCNABB DECLINE COMING?

Some league insiders believe that Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has maximized his NFL potential.  He's a "good but not great" quarterback, said one league source.

The feeling is that his play has leveled off, and that he might actually begin to start declining in his sixth NFL season.

With a backfield depleted by the loss of running back Correll Buckhalter and a receiving corps pumped up by the presence of Terrell Owens, all eyes will be on whether McNabb can make the passing game go.  And if the folks in cities other than Philly who rate football players for a living are right, McNabb might not be able to do it.
