  1. Honestly, I don't think TD signs him.

Matthews coming here is more about lack of confidence in Zolman being #2.

    Using this scenario,

I think TD banks on Drew being durable and not sucking this year.

Say Drew gets hurt. Losman finishes the game & Matthews is signed

    the next Monday.

If Losman proves to be in way over his head, then you play Matthews.

Playing the caretaker role (ie lots of running), I don't think it takes

Matthews long to adapt, he's pretty intelligent & doesn't make too many stupid mistakes.

  2. He has decent mobility, but not great, makes good decisions, but lacks arm strngth.  There were times I saw him play with the Bears, trying to dig out of a big hole, he would underthrow receivers downfield.

Yep, a great caretaker who doesn't make too many stupid mistakes.

If only he had Drew's arm...

Congrats to stuckincincy, he called this move a long time ago.

  3. I dont want to turn this into a race issue, because i HATE when people use the race card for every little thing, but I bet you if Coy Wire was a fast, athletic, tall black kid, with the EXACT same talent, he wouldnt have HALF the fans he does today.  He would be torn apart for his poor play.

Am I saying that our fans are racist? Absolutly not. It is just that in this day of the NFL, the very best athletes at that position (and most other positions) is black. People enjoy rooting for coy wire because he is a young, SHORT, somewhat overacheiving (for his size) white kid from east bumblef--k who for some reason they feel they can relate to. The loveable loser, maybe?

He sucks and he's shown it. He does play with heart, but ask "Rudy" (ya know, from the movie) and he will tell you that heart will get you nothing but one gimmee sack after years of hard work.

Go ahead and flame away - but please realize that what I said is more than likely true.

    Great post, agree 100%.

IMO this is quite similar to the Antoine Winfield situation,

where "vertically-challenged" Bills fans could relate to

an similarly undersized CB who could hit harder than

average-sized NFL CB's. These fans ignored AW's coverage

and ball skill deficiencies, cause he was "one of them".

Also a factor with both AW and Wire is the need & desire for

most Bills fans to see players drafted on day 1 become big successes.

Easy to turn a blind eye to their shortcomings.

  4. He'll sign for a low ball contract with us and add insurance if Schobel leaves and a solid opposite starter now.

We may also sign Doug Johnson

I think you're wrong on Douglas,

but Johnson could definitely wind up here.

I'd rather have a Shane Matthews.

but think DJ would be a big improvement over Travis Brown.

  5. Remind me again how many years he has played in the league? Remind me again how many probowls he has been to? Remind he again how many teams he led to the Superbowl? Remind me again the last time he made the probowl? Remind me again how many rings he has? Remind me again who holds a majority of the Buffalo Bills single season passing records?.........should I go on or would you like to buy a clue.

  6. schobel's 3 year production:

    6.5 - year 1

    8.5 - year 2

    11.5 - year 3

    ellis' 4 year production:

    8.5 - year 1

    5.0 - year 2

    4.0 - year 3

    12.5 - year 4

schobel was every bit as good as ellis last year, and has had a better career to date then ellis has had

I disagree. Ellis is far superior to Schobel at stopping the run.

Pass rush wise, they're about a draw.

Last year Schobel got a lot of sacks at garbage time,

while Ellis got a lot of sacks against Mike Williams.

  7. WTF is the need to go off some review by Dr. Friggin Z???  Did you not watch the 2002 season with your own eyes?. He played decent at guard, especially run blocking. You don't need some review to tell you that.

    11325[/snapback]

    Agreed, Dr. Z's an idiot.

Sullivan played very nice IMO thru most of 2002.

I don't know what the hell he's thinking,

but he's on the verge of pissing away his career and a lot of $$$.

    Damn shame.

  8. I was standing in the corner of the end zone where Kenny Thomas ran the interception back for a TD. He ran down the tunnel and I followed him, Fletcher and some other players.
    Cool!

As he was jogging back to the field, he started screaming "WHAT! WHAT! WHAT!" at me. I'm not sure if it was a Stone Cold Steve Austin or Lil' John reference.
He was probably just wondering who Kenny is. ;)
