  1. I'd be doing cartwheels if we landed him in the 4th. I think he's going to be a special player, one that very well could make Lynch expendable. No, I don't want to trade Lynch. But if history holds true to form so far, he'll be looking at an 8 game or more ban at some point next offseason.

I think we have a lot of holes to fill, but with lynch's transgressions of late we might be wise to add another RB. Man we have drafted a lot of RB's in recent years.

  2. Nose is clean unlike bills stars lately / has been good teamate (got a nice contract a few years ago w/o a holdout, eh hem!)

downgrades our best asset, special teams

    Comments?

Are you forgetting his DWI? Trade him, we have better than average guys to replace him and we can use the picks to fill other holes. I say 4th or earlier.

  3. Read that last night. I like Foster as a quick fix. Love Dunn, but I think he just doesn't have anything left to give on the gridiron.

He had some good games last season, plus we lost the man that cleans and paints the city. Dunn builds houses for single moms. That is way better then raking up downtown.

  4. This is just speculation of course. If Peters gets traded for a 1st and a 3rd, then we trade Parrish for a 3rd? That would give us two 1st Round picks, a 2nd, and three 3rd Round picks. That's almost Patriot like. Take into consideration that we could trade out of the #11 spot to pick up an additional 2nd along with maybe a 4th as well and we would have, possibly, a total of 9 picks in the first 4 rounds alone. This could be the draft that we all look back on in 2 to 3 years and say, "The 2009 Draft is what finally got us back on the mountain top in the AFC."

Don't forget about McCargo, he was traded and returned last year. He might also be on the block. We won't get much for him though.

  5. I agree about the possible trade scenarios here. Very interesting stuff to think about.

Why hasnt anyone thought of the Browns as a possible trading partner for Parrish? They literally have 1 receiver in Braylon Edwards. Word is that Shaun Rodgers is unhappy there. Maybe something like Parrish and a 3rd or 4th for Rodgers? Anyone be ok with that?

I'm ood with it, Can we afford Rogers?

  6. Seriously now...this trade peters (aka, buffalo's best player) nonsense is going too far. Can we split the board into two groups? The intellectually sane group that thinks trading a stud LT with two years left on his deal is the stupidest move the team could make VS. the insane/hypersensitive group that wants to load up on draft picks and cross their fingers because they are hurt a player on their team wants to maximize his value.

Gonna try to say this as nicely as possible: You don't trade peters, for the love of God. What is wrong with you people??

Yeah lets keep a guy that will sit out the beginning of every year. If we sign him now that will only be good to him for a few years then he continues to hold out again.

  7. Not Bad, Ian Johnson that late is a suprise. Being a fellow Boise Alum, I'd love to have him on the roster. Also, I feel if we have extra picks in the 3 or 4 rounds one of them may be gone to Denver for Scheffler. We also maytake a tight end early, one for the H-back position and the other for blocking/normal tight end duties.

I also like the late Fullback, a good position for a late rounder to stay on the team. I always want the Bills to grab a late QB or undrafted one. My idea is one of the fast spread option QB's. he can play QB in certain situations, a slash position and return kicks. However, all of our spots are pretty much full at WR and QB.

Overall I would be happy with your draft.

  8. If i were the Bills i would not make a move at all. Instead wait till training camp cuts and pick up best rb that gets cut. Will get him for the right price and will be ready to play. Yes he will have a shorter time learning the plays. But a Vet will be able to make an easy transition.

But then you will have a learning curve on the offense. We won't have time for a learning curve because the new RB would be used most during the first few weeks when Marshawn is out.

  9. I'm not sure if people really realize just how much and how fast Russ Brandon has made changes around here. He was named COO in January of 2008 and didn't waste much time in revamping this franchise and it's roster. Let's review what he has accomplished in just a little more than a year.

    1/12/08

Brandon officially named COO. John Guy and Tom Modrak were both promoted to Vice President positions. Guy is now the Vice President of Pro Personnel and Tom Modrak is now the Vice President of College Scouting.

    1/16/08

Turk Schonert is named the new offensive coordinator, Sean Kugler has been promoted to offensive line coach, and Alex Van Pelt takes over Turk Schonert's old job as quarterbacks coach. Previously Van Pelt was the offensive quality control coach the past two seasons. In addition Eric Studesville has been given the extra responsibility of running game coordinator to go along with his running backs coach position. He will now have more say in the exact style of the team's running game.

    1/18/08

The Bills have added Ray Brown to their coaching staff as the assistant offensive line coach.

    1/28/08

Nathaniel Hackett is named the new offensive quality control coach. He replaced Alex Van Pelt who was promoted to quarterbacks coach. Hackett has held the same job with Tampa Bay the past two seasons. He is the son of Paul Hackett who has coached offenses for many years in the NFL.

    2/11/08

The Bills hire former NFL defensive back Adrian White as his defensive quality control coach. This position did not exist last year under Jauron's staff. White has spent the last two summers as a volunteer coach for the Bills under the volunteer coaches fellowship program. He was the defensive coordinator for the Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe last spring. He had accepted the job of defensive coordinator and DB coach for Team Alabama in the new All-American Football league before coming to the Bills. He played six years in the NFL with the Giants, Packers, and Patriots from 1987 to 1993. He played under Jauron in 1992 in Green Bay where Jauron was the defensive backs coach.

    2/14/08

    The Bills released Peerless Price.

    2/27/08

The Bills continued to position themselves for free agency by releasing four players. The released players were Coy Wire, Anthony Thomas, Aaron Merz, and Jerametrius Butler.

    2/28/08

It's the start of free agency but the Bills secured the rights to all four of their exclusive rights free agents. They tendered offers to Dustin Fox, Corey Mace, Scott Mayle, and Tim Massaquoi. The tenders keep them in Buffalo but they aren't under contract until they sign them. The Bills also tendered a contract offer to just one of their three restricted free agents. DT Jason Jefferson was tendered a contract which means the Bills have a right to match any offer he receives in the free agent market or receive a 6th round pick in compensation. The team did not tender offers to Jim Leonhard and Shaud Williams by the 4pm deadline. They will now become unrestricted free agents at midnight. Last but not least the Bills released CB Kiwaukee Thomas. Thomas was a solid nickel corner for the last two years.

    2/29/08

The Bills agree to terms with LB Kawika Mitchell and terminated the contract of Larry Tripplett.

    3/1/08

The Bills sign DT Spencer Johnson and consumated a trade for DT Marcus Stroud. What a big day this was!

    3/3/08

The Bills lose two players in free agency. TE Michael Gaines signs with Detroit and WR Sam Aiken inks up with the Patriots.

    3/5/08

The Bills lose a second player to the Patriots. CB Jason Webster joins WR Sam Aiken in New England.

    3/7/08

OL Jason Whittle re-signs with the Bills.

    3/18/08

The Bills took care of one of their own free agents and re-signed Bryan Scott. Scott was signed as an injury replacement and made two starts last year. He is a solid hitter who was used a lot on safety blitzes. He's also a good tackler and can play both free and strong safety. The Bills also agreed to terms on a two year deal with veteran free agent CB William James. Formerly known as Will Peterson the former Giant and Eagle visited with the Bills last week. James struggled with injuries in 2005 and 2006 suffering from a bad back. He rounded back into shape last year startiing six games for Philadelphia. He is more of an outside defensive back and he may battle Jabari Greer for a starting job. He adds valuable, experienced depth to the defensive backfield.

    3/27/08

The Bills Lose LB Josh Stamer. FA LB Josh Stamer signed with the Titans.

    4/26/08

In Brandon's first drat the Bills take CB Leodis McKelvin in the 1st rd and WR James Hardy in the 2nd.

    4/27/08

The Bills select DE Chris Ellis in the 3rd rd, CB Reggie Corner and TE Derek Fine in the 4th, OLB Alvin Bowen in the 5th, RB Xavier Omon in the 6th and OT Demetrius Bell, WR Steve Johnson and CB Kennard Cox in the 7th.

    5/13/08

TE Kevin Everett is officially off the team. The Bills plan to honor the final year of Everett's contract and helped him get three full years of NFL service last year.

    6/13/08

My son's birthday and the Bills released a statement about the shocking death of Buffalo native Tim Russert. "“The Buffalo Bills organization is devastated in hearing the news of the passing of Tim Russert. Tim, as everyone knows, was a tremendous Bills fan. He was always so proud to let people know just how much he loved our team and was such a great ambassador for Buffalo. So many times he ended his “Meet The Press” show with his patented “Go Bills!” that it became part of our Game Day morning rituals. He was a true friend and we will miss him immensely. Our sincere sympathies go out to his family and our team carries a heavy heart tonight as we mourn the loss of this great man, Buffalo’s native son and a Bills fan forever.” There will be a candlight vigil at Tim Russert park in Buffalo tomorrow night at 9pm. Flags in Buffalo have been ordered to half staff.

Truly a sad day for all Buffalonians.

    6/25/08

The Bills announced that they have agreed on a contract extension for Brad Butler.

    6/26/08

Timothy J. Russert Highway. It sure does have a ring to it, doesn't it? The Senate approved a voice vote legislation on 6/25/08 to rename a portion of Rt. 20 by Ralph Wilson Stadium "Timothy J. Russert Highway". The bill was sponsered by both New York Senators, Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton. A similiar bill in the house sponsored by Rep. Brian Higgins is expected to pass in the next few days and President Bush is expected to sign it into law.

Truly a great day for all Buffalonians!

It's just before the start of the 2008 pre-season and this post is getting to be too long so I'm going to end it here. I just wanted to refresh people's memories about just exactly what Russ Brandon has been accomplishing since he took over. I think that he's doing a very impressive job and we shouldn't lose sight of his achievements. Things take time and he has been changing the complexion of this organization drastically if you look closer at it.

I would just like to add that I believe that this is going to be a shocking, in a great way, draft for us this year. I think that Brandon is really going to wow us by some very big moves in this year's draft. Sensing that certain players like Jason Peters and Roscoe Parrish might be getting traded for pick(s)/position in the draft, I'm starting to wonder if we might be exploring some of these options so we can trade up in the draft to get LB Aaron Curry.

It kinda seems like he has done what every GM does? Did you expect him to do nothing?

  10. You cant use real world rationale when discussing pro sports and contracts. Its leverage. Unless the bills draft someone or sign a RB Jackson just picked up a whole bunch of leverage. We should have taken care of this weeks ago with a reasonable deal, i highly doubt jackson is asking the brinks trucks be brought in

he picked up no leverage, no other team can sign him. know the rules of the game.

I think we should offer him more, but we own him for two years. if he sits out for a year we own him for the two after. he has noe leverage. sucks to be him.

  11. Who the Hell really knows ? The Bills are so mum on letting any kind of news out as to who they are interested in, it's pittiful. I really do not know if DE Brown, OLB Maybin, OT Oher, DE Johnson, De Jackson, TE Pettigrew or any of the other top 10 in the draft have come to Buffalo for evaluation. It just might mean the Bills already know come hell or high water who they are going to get hands down. My guess would be TE Pettigrew. We know the Bills are cheap. So why bring in other players at the owners expense when you already know who you are going to pick? TE Pettigrew would give them the BIG WR/TE they have been looking for and did not get in Hardy. He definitely would fill the Bill Offensively. Yes we need a pass rusher. But remember what Mr. Wilson said at the end of the season. He was going to fix the offense. Pettigrew would be step one. he only lacks top speed. But with the kind of receivers the Bills now have, Pettigrew will only get covered by a linebacker. He has great hands and can plant his feet well for quick outlet passes. If the pass is well thrown he will get it. That's what we need. A truely dependable receiver on each play. A BIG target who can really catch and block.

Step two would be signing Peters. If it does not happen on draft day I would expect him to be traded for a 1st and a third. The Bills then would try to sign the best Offensive Lineman available at that point even if he is not a tackle. Bills might even make a trade at some point later using Parish and a lower draft pick to pick up a quality Offensive lineman at either guard or tackle. Rounds two and three will have to be used for defensive help. Rounds 4 thru 7 will just have to be used as fill ins is all. Too many compensation picks to other teams at the end of the third round this year.

I really hope the Bills sign our best offensive lineman. 8.5 million is actually still to low and 11 million he is asking for is really to high. It would be best if Russ Brandon uses his negioation abilities and gets Peters signed before the draft. If the Bills trade Peters away, the Bills will losing in the trade. It will not be a win / win situation for both teams. Losing Peters would be a setback for the team. Getting a 1st and a third for a all pro Left Offensive Tackle in his prime is priceless. Bills should not trade him away in anger or demean how good he really is when he wants to be. Bills to date have treated other players better than they have Peters and that is why he is standing his ground. Brandon needs to amend fenses. That is what a good GM would do.

I think it is smart that the Bills don't let on to thier draft day plans. If teams know what you are doing then it is more difficult to trade and make moves with them. Also, Peters doesn't negotiate. He didn't last year either, he asks for money and doesn't come down from that. last year he didn't even talk to the F.O. before he skipped.

Peters thinks about peters and if he stays at 11.5 then we don't need him.
