Government workers, schools, and bankers get it off.  Most people don't.

My wife doesn't like it when I tell her I have a real job and don't get MLK day off like she does.

I suspect many will take a personal day and employers will be Ok with it.

I've already emailed my boss saying I'm taking the afternoon off.

Its a wash IMO.  Playing in the kind of weather coming takes way more toll on the body and there would have been a lot more fatigue.

Plus whomever the Bills would play has to travel to Buffalo.  Bills players can just roll out of bed and go to the stadium, and not worry if they packed enough underwear for the weekend.

How? Our game isn't until Monday

    Standings.

(All scenarios based on the Bills beating the Steelers)

If the Dolphins win, they'll go to the Ravens since they will be the lowest seed, and the Bills will get the winner of the Texans/Browns.

If the Chiefs win, they will come to Buffalo and the winner of the Texans/Browns will go to the Ravens.

For me, I'm happy this decision was made.  For others who now can't attend at the new time, there is sadness.

But I think it was the right thing to do.  Curious about refunds since they moved it...

I don't think they'll do refunds.  If it was moved to a different city, probably.

I have a serious question.  The new field is supposed to be grass. Fine. I get that you can heat it and have grow lights and all that to keep it alive.  When we get a storm like this, how are they supposed to clear the field and the stadium without destroying the field?  In the current stadium they can drive large equipment right onto the field.  With grass, which would be soaked by melting snow if the ground were heated, it would be far too soft to do that.  I realize other grass fields can get snow but they don't get typically 2-3'+ of snow in a single storm in Philly or Pittsburgh or Green Bay or Baltimore or Washington.  Cleveland could I guess, but nobody accused Cleveland's field of being good in the winter either.

    Tarp the field.

There was time you could bring a thermos and/or a duffel bag of blankets, food, etc.

I have a duffel I kept filled with gloves, hats, rain jacket, etc, so I was ready for any weather condition, even if it changed part way through the game.  I suppose I could do the same with a clear bag, but I could not carry as much.

That sounds as if it's going to be postponed too Monday.

    3 p.m.

    Would be perfect.

Game would be over in enough time for the night game.

With a state of emergency already declared, doesn’t that basically ban “unnecessary “ travel?  If that’s the case would going to the game become illegal??

I think the state and local governments could force the NFL’s hand.

That's my thought also. The state could come out and say no fans, and I'm not sure why they have not done that yet.

Wonder if playing a game without fans is an option?

They can.  They did during Covid.  And it's less people that would need to be there.  Won't need ushers or concession people, a lot less security.  Won't need to clear the parking lots.

Just wish a decision comes soon.  I'd rather start planning my Monday than attempt the trip out tonight to find out the game has been moved or switched.

Do you live in the Southtowns?  I do.  Have my whole life.  Decades-long STH.  This is not a good idea, both for football reasons and (much more importantly) public safety reasons.  It is profoundly stupid to invite 70k+ people to OP with that forecast.

Most surprising thing about the story is that a supposed friend ratted out this kid to the authorities. Was he jealous?

That was my thought also, since one article I saw said they used other students to be lookouts.  Maybe the lookouts wanted some action also and got rejected.
