  1. I don't think there are too many people here who didn't light a spleef once in a while or drank underage. Big deal.
  2. This is taped from fox news off the TV. Poor quality.
  3. I think he's holding out for a better offer than second or third string QB. Third string QB is a great gig. Make approx. $750,000 for holding a clipboard. Great work if you can get it.
  4. That's your answer to that question?!
  5. May 27: General Interest 1941 : Bismarck sunk by Royal Navy On May 27, 1941, the British navy sinks the German battleship Bismarck in the North Atlantic near France. The German death toll was more than 2,000. On February 14, 1939, the 823-foot Bismarck was launched at Hamburg. Nazi leader Adolf Hitler hoped that the state-of-the-art battleship would herald the rebirth of the German surface battle fleet. However, after the outbreak of war, Britain closely guarded ocean routes from Germany to the Atlantic Ocean, and only U-boats moved freely through the war zone. In May 1941, the order was given for the Bismarck to break out into the Atlantic. Once in the safety of the open ocean, the battleship would be almost impossible to track down, all the while wreaking havoc on Allied convoys to Britain. Learning of its movement, Britain sent almost the entire British Home Fleet in pursuit. On May 24, the British battle cruiser Hood and battleship Prince of Wales intercepted it near Iceland. In a ferocious battle, the Hood exploded and sank, and all but three of the 1,421 crewmen were killed. The Bismarck escaped, but because it was leaking fuel it fled for occupied France. On May 26, it was sighted and crippled by British aircraft, and on May 27 three British warships descended on the Bismarck and finished it off. One of the coolest stories from WWII Here's more on this interesting subject. Following an abortive air strike that afternoon in which fourteen Swordfish mistakenly attacked (but missed) Sheffield, a second strike of fifteen Swordfish took off from Ark Royal at 1910 that evening. Over the next hour or so, in conditions of low clouds, strong winds, and fading daylight, the aircraft released thirteen torpedoes in a series of attacks against the German battleship. While the poor weather made these attacks difficult, it also threw off the aim of the German antiaircraft gunners, and no planes were lost. Two torpedoes struck Bismarck, one with little effect, but the other wrecked her steering gear and jammed the rudder. This lucky blow sealed her fate. Slowed to a crawl by the damage, Bismarck could no longer escape her converging pursuers. After midnight on the 27th, one Polish and four British destroyers closed the range and made multiple torpedo attacks on Bismarck. A few hours after dawn, the British heavy warships steamed into view, and battleships King George V and Rodney engaged Bismarck at a range of 16,000 yards. German gunnery was inaccurate, probably owing to crew exhaustion, and after an hour and a half Bismarck was reduced to a blazing shambles. Torpedoed twice more, and eventually scuttled by her surviving crew, the German battleship sank some 300 nautical miles west of Ushant, France. Only 110 of her crew of 2,222 survived the sinking.
  6. She doesn't need to be a musical genius!!
  7. They're already working on the sequel. "Mega Shark vs. Octomom"!
  8. BTW, too bad MST3K isn't around anymore. This looks ready made for them!!
  9. Not for acting but it should be up for special effects. The scene linked to that on Youtbube is funny as hell. I liked the shark taking a bite out of the Golden Gate bridge in the first trailer. I'm not so sure about that. This could be somebodies "Plan 9 from outer space" I'll wait two weeks for it to hit free TV.
  10. 28th????? They need to drug test that dude!! My cat will PUNCH! him if he ever meets him!!
  11. Oher is going to be a bust. Ya heard it here first so mark it down. The media hoopla that surrounds him now, due to the book, is going to be a little overwhelming for a rookie and IMO a distraction. He's going to be under the microscope for awhile. When the movie comes out it's gonna get hot again and another distraction. I don't know if he's going to be able to handle all the pressure. I think he was overrated to begin with anyhow. That's no excuse Mr. if you can't bring enough for the whole class then.... Maybin is a DE. It's going to take Maybin three years, IMO, to reach his full potential. Hopefully they will bring him along slowly as a situational pass rusher this year. He may struggle this year so don't get on him if he does. He's a project with HUGE upside.
  12. Some other people I've talked to about this believe that Nick Mason is the worst drummer to make it big.
  13. SF was penalized a fifth for Lance Briggs tampering. I see it being the same thing or close.
  14. May 25: General Interest 1977 : Star Wars opens On this day in 1977, Memorial Day weekend opens with an intergalactic bang as the first of George Lucas' blockbuster Star Wars movies hits American theaters. The incredible success of Star Wars--seven Oscars, $461 million in U.S. ticket sales and a gross of close to $800 million worldwide--began with an extensive, coordinated marketing push by Lucas and his studio, 20th Century Fox, months before the movie's release date. "It wasn’t like a movie opening," actress Carrie Fisher, who played rebel leader Princess Leia, later told Time magazine. "It was like an earthquake." Beginning with--in Fisher’s words--"a new order of geeks, enthusiastic young people with sleeping bags," the anticipation of a revolutionary movie-watching experience spread like wildfire, causing long lines in front of movie theaters across the country and around the world. With its groundbreaking special effects, Star Wars leaped off screens and immersed audiences in "a galaxy far, far away." By now everyone knows the story, which followed the baby-faced Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) as he enlisted a team of allies--including hunky Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and the robots C3PO and R2D2--on his mission to rescue the kidnapped Princess Leia from an Evil Empire governed by Darth Vader. The film made all three of its lead actors overnight stars, turning Fisher into an object of adoration for millions of young male fans and launching Ford's now-legendary career as an action-hero heartthrob. Star Wars was soon a bona-fide pop culture phenomenon. Over the years it has spawned five more feature films, five TV series and an entire industry's worth of comic books, toys, video games and other products. Two big-screen sequels, The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and The Return of the Jedi (1983), featured much of the original cast and enjoyed the same success--both critical and commercial--as the first film. In 1999, Lucas stretched back in time for the fourth installment, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, chronologically a prequel to the original movie. Two other prequels, Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005) followed. The latter Star Wars movies featured a new cast--including Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen--and have generally failed to earn the same amount of critical praise as the first three films. They continue to score at the box office, however, with Revenge of the Sith becoming the top-grossing film of 2005 in the United States and the second worldwide. Episodes 1-3 are very disappointing except for "Revenge of The Sith" which is, IMO, the best of the three and almost as good as any of the original three. Hayden Christiansen was a very bad choice for Anakin Skywalker as a young man. He didn't really even look like a grown up Anakin. I really liked Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor, Ian McDiarmid and Samuel Jackson but Christiansen sucked, IMO, of course. I remember seeing an interview with Samuel Jackson and he said he went to Lucas and begged him to be in a Star Wars movie. He didn't care if Lucas put him inside a Storm Trooper suit. Obviously, Lucas found a better part for him. When they were writing the final script he said he told Lucas that he didn't want to die like a dog.
  15. Link to Bob Costas interview with McCartney
  16. of the Cavett Show where he says that.
  17. You just need an orchestra going through the notes quickly behind you. Here's some Beatles trivia I've come across over the years: On a "Day in the life" they needed a half orchestra to go from the first note to the last note as rapidly as you hear it on the record. The players had a hard time understanding what they meant. They told them they could skip notes to get there. It was so against everything they'd been taught before, The Beatles had someone get party hats to make it a more festive atmosphere. On "For the benefit of Mr. Kite" all of the lyrics were taken from a circus promotional flyer. The pump organ sounds came from recording a pump organ and then cutting the tape into strips and throwing them in the air. They then taped them back radomly. "Martha my dear" is about Paul McCartney's English Sheepdog Martha. McCartney has always had an English Sheepdog named Martha through the years. Eric Clapton plays guitar on "While my guitar gently weeps". Paul McCartney plays drums on "The ballad of John and Yoko" Yesterday became an acoustic piece because the rest of the band had no idea what to add to the song. "Dear Prudence" is about Mia Farrow's sister Prudence who Lennon met while with the maharishi. She rarely ventured out to be with the others. "Two of us" is about Paul and Linda. "Little piggies" was written after the police raided George Harrison's house for a drug bust. "Strawberry fields" is about a place Lennon used to hide when he wanted serenity. "Hey Jude" was written by McCartney while on his way to talk to Julian Lennon about his parents divorce. When he recorded it it was changed to "Hey Jude". McCartney said that when he was singing it to Lennon he came to the line "the movement you need is on your shoulder" and he told Lennon he was going to change it but, Lennon told him not to because he understood exactly what McCartney meant. McCartney now says he always remembers Lennon when he sings it. "Lucy in the sky with diamonds" is not about LSD. It was written from a picture Julian gave John when he was a child. On (I'm not sure which part of the Youtube links it's on) he tells Cavett when that came out he looked back on all the songs to see what else people could say about them. These are all things I remember hearing, seeing in intervies or reading from books like "McCartney in his own words". * A musician friend of mine says he believes that Ringo Starr is the worst drummer to ever make it that big in RR.
  18. When I have diarrhea the doctor calls it being dehydrated. I hope he didn't in the pool.
  19. Awwwww, not to a doggy. A friend of mine had the same problem with her dog. Her husband and her each have a dog and her dog sleeps through the night. His dog makes him get up to let him out. Her dog knows she's not gonna do it. Think about crating.
  20. PUNCH!! You're not a Christian are you? Where has Jesus ever used torture in the Bible? He was tortured at the end and still he didn't want his disciples to go out and start a war against the Jews and Romans. Go back and re-read your Bible. You're getting really effed up ideas about who Jesus was and what he stood for. Just because you want to justify your immoral thoughts don't try to paint Jesus as a different person so that he fits your sick world view. I hope I'm there when you try to explain that comment to him in the afterlife. When is Hannity stepping up to the plate?
  21. Bad jokes I expect from you Beerball, but that bad?
