  1. I like Stroud -- but am very concerned about his injury - - no not his ankle injury his micro fracture surgery which has reduced players to shadows of their former selves recently. Stroud did not look like the old dominating Stroud the past couple years, I would not of made the Trade if I was running the Bills. Thats not to say that we don't need help on the D. Line I would of just looked at some under the radar free agents like Spencer Johnson, maybe held onto to tripplett depending his cap figure. And used our 3rd and 5th round pick to maneuver up the draft.
  2. Jermichael Finley (Texas) ran a significantly better forty today at his pro day (4'6) than at the combine where he ran 4'8. All of a sudden I'm re-evaluating Jermichael Finley as a solution to the TE problem - - he has a lot of upside. Although, I still think we should go with a balanced TE that can be a productive Blocker in the run game, such as Brad Cottam. I have been consistently pro Sweed, although i must admit I think both Sweed and Kelly are a reach at # 11.
  3. Count me as someone who is pro Limas Sweed. I just like the way he catches the ball he always uses his and never brings it into his body.
  4. My intentions weren't to mislead. Sorry about that guys.
  5. I like McCauley cause I think he is perfectly suited for the cover 2. His problems last year were caused by Fresno basically asking him to take on a Champ Bailey style role. As for Houston I put him behind Revis and Hall but should be without a doubt the third coner taken. I watched Houston completly man-handle D. Jarret when the played this year. Plus he is a Junior. No one will draft Daymeion "too slow" Hughes ove Chris Houston.
  6. As of right now RB is a glaring hole in an offense that has a a lot of potential. A-Train should not be a #1 option and I don't see Fred Jackson as a viable option either. Moreover having such unreliable running game could adversely affect the development of our key player -- JP Losman. Something needs to be done prior to the season, here is my take on some of logical plans posters have suggested: Solution 1: Draft Adrian Peterson, if he miraculously falls to us. I love this quote about him: "[AP]might be the best back I've ever seen coming out of college." "Every time he carries the ball," Gruden said, "he tries to hurt you. He's bad. And he's fast. He's mean. He's tough. This guy is something else. He sure gets your attention." ( Sure Gruden might be draft posturing but i tend to agree this is one of the best RB prospects the NFL has seen in a long time) However I do not recommend trading up to get him unless its minor. This team has too many holes to fill on the defensive side of the ball to be giving up 1st day picks. Verdict: If he falls to us so be it, but a team with so many defensive holes should not be trading away first day draft picks. Solution 2: Trading for M. Turner. If I'm not in favour of giving draft picks to get Peterson, similarly I'm not in favour of giving up picks to get Micheal Turner. While I agree Turner appears to be an incredible talent he is not worth the price AJ Smith has been advertising. Moreover since he will become an URFA after next season and the Bills will have plenty of cap money to throw at him. The Bills with or without Turner are not Super Bowl bound. While we need an adequate RB this year we don't need to dole a bunch of money and draft picks for a career backup (although a damn good one). If we want Turner we should just wait till 2008 Free agency and offer him the most enticing offer.... Verdict: Don't trade for him. If we want him that bad just sign him next year. Solution 3: FA + midround pick: This is the situation that I hope plays out (excluding AP somehow falling to us at 12) sign a talented veteran to a deal that pays him a lot of money upfront for 07 (to entice him hopefully incentive laden) but allows terms to make it easy for us to cut next year without facing major cap penalties. Much like the 1 year deal the Browns gave Jamaal Lewis. I see Corey Dillon and Chris Brown as options and Domanick (Davis) Williams depending on his knee. Add to the Mix a rookie RB drafted with a 3rd round pick or later I like Tony Hunt, Brandon Jackson, Jackie Butler, Lorenzo Booker. Verdict: A stop gap solution unless the draft pick studs out. Nevertheless provides the offense with adequate play at the RB position with out giving up draft picks. Solution 4: Marshawn Lynch. I do not see this guy as a first round talent and I hated the thought of using the 1st round pick on him. Yet with rumours of his stock falling there is the distinct possibility he might fall to us in the 2nd round. I might have to re-evaluate my opinion on him @ #43 overall he would represent tremendous value for that pick. Verdict : Anywhere in the top 20 is to high for Lynch IMO. Although If he falls to us in the 2nd RD he might be able to address our need. Final observation: For the sake of offensive balance we need to add a quality RB but by no means do we have to "give up the farm" for a so called great running back of the future. With or without A.P, M. Turner or even the best runningback in the league LT the 2007 Bills will not be Super Bowl bound. Lets concentrate on filling our substantial defensive holes through the draft unless we get lucky (AP falls to #12, Marshawn falls to #43, AJ Smith gives up Turner for virtually nothing eg. ( at most our 3rd pick acquired from Baltimore # 92). Runningback is a concern but lets not mortgage the future... Its my opinion that if we add impact players through the 2007 draft the Bills could be talking Super Bowl in 2008/2009. Lets add at least 1LB 1 CB and 1 DL with 3 of our 4 first day picks. 1st. Patrick Willis ILB Ole Miss 2nd. Marcus McCauley CB Fresno St. 3rd. Marcus Thomas DT Florida or 1st. Amobi Okoye DT Louisville 2nd Marcus McCauley CB Fresno St. 3rd. Quincy Black OLB New Mexico or 1. Leon Hall CB Michigan 2. David Harris ILB Michigan 3. Marcus Thomas DT Florida
  7. I'd take JaMarcus Russel first overall if i were the raiders... yes he has higher bust potential than say a Calvin Johnson. But the minute he signs on NFL contract he will officially have: "the best arm in the NFL".
  8. 1 - Pat Willis (unless Peterson miraculously falls to us) 2 - Marcus McCauley CB fresno 3 - Marcus Thomas DT Florida 3 - Tony Hunt (if we drafted Willis) H.B Blades( if we got Peterson)
  9. I hope we draft Marcus Thomas with our 3rd round pick. That guy has 1st round talent all over him -- he got kicked off the gators for marijuana but he suits the cover 2 to perfection.
  10. Do you think Marv would consider drafting someone with question marks about their character?? Cause there are a lot of players with so called character issues but tremendous talent who could be had in later rounds. Is it worth taking a chance on those guys or should we eliminate guys based on previous transgressions?
  11. The focus was on anti trust laws not deprivation of livelihood. Maurice Clarett, plaintif against NFL, Defendant
  12. Im pretty sure Clarret's case was grounded in anti-trust laws eg. collusion between NFLPA and The NFL to restrict player access to the league. Oh and he won the original hearing but lost on appeal.
  13. I would consider his 1 year ban to be deprivation of property: his job and salary. Look im not defending his actions but I will note that while he has been charged on 5 seperate occaisions he has yet to be found guilty in any of them. My criticism is of the NFL arbitrary interpretation of ineffective policy.
  14. The current NFL conduct policy (here) seems inadequate; hence the need for a new one. A reading of the current NFLPA conduct policy suggests nothing more than generalities with no specifics with regards to convictions vs. allegations, no clear mandate for standards of punishment. The lack of specifics has allowed Commisioner Goodell to interpret them it any way he wants to and similarly apply those standards on an ad-hoc basis (Jones, Henry). Essentially there is no precedent for who gets suspended and for how long. What about Tank Johnson and his numerous run-ins with the law? Or we could extend it Terrance Kiel for his possession of a controlled substance. Why not take it one step further and suspend Cardinals coach Richie Anderson for soliciting prostitution or Bill Belichick for breaking up that dudes marriage, or Jerry Jones for violating NFL Properties with the sponsorship contracts he illegally signed. My point is that there is a reason the NFL needed a new conduct policy - - because the old one was ineffective and lacked the specifics to do anything. In my oppinion its irresponible of the NFL to enforce these punishments under the old conduct policy when its a violation of due process (lack of precedence and on ad-hoc basis). Does anyone have any links about the suspensions and due process? or are there any lawyers out there who agree/disagree with what I am saying. I will admit im pretty much a neophyte when it comes to laws/legality but it seems to me the suspensions of Chris Henry and Adam Jones represent a fundamental violation of due process. The commisoner cannot arbitrarily decide who gets suspended and who doesn't, and for how long.
  15. Genius. Her rendition is off the chains - also its amazing how Fergies' song was somewhat considered empowering for women eg. watch me take advantage of guys for there money - - while Alanis version including the toned down piano melody excentuates how stupid the lyrics are and the fragility of exploiting yourself as means of empowerment
  16. Just checked the depth chart courtesy of BB.com RT: (1) Langston Walker (2) Terrence Pennington (3) Brad Butler RG: (1) Duke Preston (2) Jason Whittle (3) Aaron Merz. I recognize that off season depth charts are a lot of BS but I was really hoping L. Walker would be moved to guard where I think he could be more effective as road grader run blocker and less of a liability in pass protection. Duke Preston seemed ineffective when he played and I don't think warrants a starting spot. Conversely Terrance Pennington was a real bright spot on the O-line (IMO) and once he was promoted to a starter I thought he shored up the O-line. I can't see us adding any additional O-lineman though the draft so my question to you guys would be how do you think we will O-line will lineup on opening day?
  17. 1. Adrian Peterson (somehow, someway the Bill's draft the best running back prospect the NFL has seen in this decade.) 2. Marcus McCauley CB Fresno State (to be honest i don't have a clue all i know is they will go defense with the next 4 picks (43, 74, 92, 111) drafting 1 CB 2 LB and 1 DT)
  18. Link I have never seen this Battle guy play but those numbers are absolutely phenomenal especially for a guy weighing 235lbs - - the short shuttle time would have been third fastest at the combine only behind scatbacks Garret Wolfe and Ahmed Bradshaw. The threecone time is exceptional and faster than any back tested at the combine same with the vertical leap of 41 inches the best by a rb at the combine was 40.5. Lastyear he ran for 950yrds and had a 5.1 avg + 15 tds. I kind of remember Hairston having success at rutgers his freshman year (i think he was on pace for 1000yds) but i think an injury really derailed him and add guys like Brian Leonard and Ray Rice and no wonder he transferred (eg. Brandon Jacobs) obviously 1800 yards as a senior is sick but i mean especially in the prestigious northeast (div 2) conference . I know "workout wonders" doesn't translate into NFL success but those numbers especially Battle's are absolutely jaw dropping. Anyone seen either of these guys play?
  19. Has Lynch Had his proday yet??? I wasn't very impressed with his performance at the combine.
  20. I like Edge Hartwell but i don't see him fitting the cover 2 defense. Any other names out there guys, lets think of some good fits here.
  21. While Im a fan of rebulding through the draft I would like to see us make a play for at least a couple FA. so who are some possible impact players or at least guys who can contribute out there, here are few IMO: 1. Antonio Bryant - - headcase - can he turn it around? would he be alright with being the #2 option to Lee Evans 2. LaVaar Arrington the former #2 overall pick is intriguing 3. Chris Brown or Dominick (Davis) Williams: we need depth at RB 4. Tim Rattay capable back up IMO 5. Randall Gay CB would he suit the cover 2?
  22. I think i finally understand how we're ranked the most miserable sports fans.
  23. Im an avid baseball fan but I have never played fantasy baseball before - - anyway my friends and i are organizing a league using yahoo fantasy. I understand that a Fantasy League is only as good as the rules that govern it. eg. stat categories, # of players, Bench, Injured Reserve, how often you need to make line up adjustments, head to head vs. roto and all that other crap. Anyway just wondering if there are Fantasy Baseball Buffs out there with good suggestions on how to set up a league and pitfalls i should to avoid when designing the league? any tips would be greatly appreciated. (wow i never though my life would sink as low as openly asking on a online message board for tips in order to operate a fantasy baseball league ahahah)
