Not to mention that Polian had AJ Smith and John Butler getting him his information- he did not do everything himself!
Very true Adam. And the core players that were on the team in the early 90's were a special group of men.
-
the more time passes and seeing how Marv did post-Bills versus Polian, the more i realize the early 90's team was all Polian. if we'd had a more capable coach like a Dungy we could have run the table.
Whatever... It's been 16 years. Time to leave the past in the past . . .
-
Is there a point?
Probably trying to make himself feel better because now we know he will never coach the Bills . . .

The most significant event in McCargo's career: McCargo was traded to the Indianapolis Colts. The trade was voided and he was returned to the Bills the following day after McCargo failed his physical.
Ya he qualifies . . .

Here's some more info on the guy, knew Gailey from G-Tech.
http://www.kcchiefs.com/coach/curtis_modkins/
Not that this is a big deal considering Gailey will be calling all of the plays. Still though, I guess you could say he had some success with Beanie Wells this year.
I have seen nothing on the web about this hire. Is this story legit??

Sign (trade a pick for him technically) him up, he should clearly be the face of our team.
He and Marshaw would make a nice tandem . . . on another team!
-
everyone usually likes the guy picked right before us.....
fortunately this year the raiders are picking in that spot......so we're safe....lol
L O L !

Regarding the topic: I'm not at all embarrassed by our new GM, because he's done nothing to either establish pride or bring shame. It's simply too early to have an opinion at all. I can say however, that I really like the firing of Guy and that now a detail is coming to light that Modrak wanted :thumbsup:Cushing and it was others who wanted Maybin...i.e. Limp Dick Jauron....as for the Chan hiring, it's one of those things that I've reserved for later. If Chan is able to get this offense to be consistently productive and if the new DC is able to stop the run without giving up 300 yds a game in the pass defense, then I will say that this was a good hire. As for how he "sounds" when he speaks, there are a lot of very good football minds that during press conferences that don't sound like Rhode Scholars, and quite frankly I don't care.....just put a winning team on the field and all is forgiven!!!
Good comment BigBuff.

After reading the list, I would be laughing if was another team (like Miami or Oakland). Instead, I find myself shaking my head and wondering "Are we really that inept?"

Embarrassed by a man I've never met? Uh...no.
I agree with your comment, and most everything I've heard in the press about Mr. Nix has been positive.

Why do so many people think that Maybin will succeed as an OLB? This year we were decimated by injury yet Maybin continued to get 2 to 3 reps a game at DE. Don't you think if the coaching staff thought he would be a successful OLB they would have given him a shot there this past year?
I can't help but feel like Maybin would be a stud as a blitzing OLB, but the minute he needs to drop into coverage I see him getting killed. Can you see him making the play in coverage that was needed when Brady threw either of the two touchdown passes to Ben Watson in that Monday night game?
There is absolutely no chance that that happens in my opinion. I just don't see him being a capable OLB in all parts needed.
If we keep him, I only see him being successful as a "situation down" player. Hopefully Chan can find a way to use him.

. . . Let me reiterate, tactful criticism and skepticism are welcomed. Being a rude jackass is not.
-
Whats not to like about a quick, powerfull, and INTENSE/DIRTY player?
It's always good to have an O-lineman who can put some fear into a defense.
-
Just curious what people think about Nix. When he introduced Gailey he was a bumbling fool that didn't even know how many coaches the Bills have had. A 70 year old goofball. So progressive! Typical Bills.
I think Nix is doing a lot of the right things so far. If he can get Rusty Jones back to Buffalo it would be huge!

Nothing special a basic 63 galaxie 4 door 289 painted to look like Andy of Mayberrys cop car.
I am in the wrong business.
Had a nice '70 El Camino SS that I sold for $2800.00 back in 1984. It was loaded (but did have a 4 speed tranny) and only had about 70K miles on it when I sold it. I wonder what it would be worth now . . .

If we move Wood it will be to C. Why the hell would we move Andy to RT after the good year he had at LG?
I hope Wood is able to play by the time training camp starts. Has anyone heard how he's recovering from his broken leg?

The whole universe is thinking about drafting a QB after what just happened this NFL season. Bills won't be able to get Clausen at #9. By April, everyone will have him going in the top 5.
It would be great to get a decent QB in the first round, but this year, I'd settle for ANY GUY WHO IS NOT ANOTHER FIRST ROUND BUST ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Kelso was the smartest guy on the field. The problem was he had about as much power as if we had thrown Marv out on the field. We rarely got beat deep with Kelso playing outfield. I'm not sure why he takes so much abuse on these boards.
As for the OJ Anderson run, you're asking your free safety to take on a giant RB. Ask yourself where all his teammates were on that play.
We could have done a lot worse at F.S. than Kelso.

Love Conan. Clever and funny. I hope he lands on his feet . . .

I know, it's been done. But if I didn't do it, someone else would have!
Posted it to my facebook. It's hilarious!

This is a spinoff from the "mobile, agile, and hostile" thread.
Who are the SOFTEST or LEAST AGILE Buffalo Bills you can think of?
Big "Moe" Elewonibi. Couldn't even make the team when we needed an O-Lineman back in the mid '90s

Andre Reed throwing to Jim Kelly. What game was this? Any video? Any anything?
Yeah I remember it. Was that Kelly's only reception in the NFL? Good old "skillet hands"!
I'm thinking it was the '88 season...

I don't see it happening. And the mention of Vick in the article? I don't want that guy (although maybe he could be a role model for Marshawn Lynch)
Leslie Frazier could have been a good coach

It's a moot point now. Gailey is our man and it's time to get used to it. I hope the bigger issue of identifying and acquiring talented football players can get rolling successfully.
