"Adding guys like the one mentioned above will put Buffalo squarely in New England's league."
You forgot to mention the fact that they have all-world QB Tom Brady..
But yeah, It wouldn't hurt to bring in another wideout or TE into the mix.

Donahoe is back in the NFL?
Yawn . . .

As a Bills fan I am frothing at the mouth when I think of the potential in this defense for 2012. I cna't help but fantasize about this team going 11-5, with a top 10 defense and the playoffs for the first time in a dozen, and yes I know that I am looking too far down the road with that, even when I start to think of...
...after the season.
I doubt Buffalo would make Wanny the highest paid DC in the League (what would that be, about 4 million?), and I doubt they are going to promise him the HC job, especially when you consider that Gailey and Wannstedt are roughly the same age.
That being said I think teams are going to come at him hard to be a HC and I am not sure how much reason there would be for him to stay if this is potentially his last go around at the top spot.
It is just frustrating as a Bills fan to think of the possiblity of finally putting together a multi-year run, just knowing that you aren't like other franchises that get to keep their good people, at least for a couple of years.
...unless the Bills are so close after 2012 where someone could reasonably think, "yeah, I think we can win the whole thing next year, AND my prospects will be even greater."
Sounds like I am whinning, but really I am still thrilled. This just sort of popped in my head.
GO BILLS!
Losing coaches is a challenge that any winning program faces. It's easier to replace coaches than it is to replace players. The Bills will press on without Wanny if he leaves..

I was thinking, the 2012 Bills are probably the best team in franchise history...you could say it as the 1965 or 1966 teams, which won AFL cahmpionships, but you have to remember, that was the AFL, not the NFL. And then, you might argue it was one of the four Super Bowl teams, but then, you have to remember that they lost all four Super Bowls, so, they might have only been the 16th (no Carolina and Jacksonville yet) best team in the league in those seasons.
So, with all the players the Bills have added this year, the best available free agent DE in Mario Williams, a name guy at back-up QB in Steve Young, and a nice complimentary pass rusher DE on the other side in Mark Anderson, I feel confident that the 2012 Buffalo Bills are the best team in the history of the franchise. All that, along with keeping the core of last years 6-10 team make me feel like the sky is the limit!!!! Thoughts?
Team of the century? (2000 - 2012) I could buy that. But they haven't even played a down of regular season football yet, and compared to some previous Bills teams that others have already mentioned, they still have everything to prove (like a winning record, for starters).

Wow this thread is still going? Go Bills!

So much for "freedom of expression".

Really? An Olineman who can play all positions and a DB with elite size and speed have high bust potential? link:http://www.profootballweekly.com/
I think we are going to be happy with these guys. Eff PFW.

I would love bringing burress in...but Stevie kinda burned that bridge
-
Best of luck to a classy guy.

I like your optimism but they still haven't played a single down yet... We still are the worst team in the division until we prove it otherwise on the field. Don't you remember the Eagles won the Superbowl in last year's off-season.... they didn't make the playoffs.
Disagree - Miami is worse

I think Jairus Byrd is going to have a big season.

Wayne County, NY. The in-laws lived in North Buffalo. Used to go to a lot more games in those days..
-
Jimbo
Thurman
Daryl Talley
Kent Hull
Ray Bentley
Honorable mention: Ruben Brown, Steve Tasker, James Lofton
(Does it sound like I'm stuck in the 90s?)
-
No, not really. There was an SI article from 2009 that said 78% of NFL players are either in bankruptcy or financial distress within 2 years of retirement.
EDIT: Damn, Tonyd19 beat me to it
Wow, that's pretty sad.

I really could have lived with Jabari Greer at 4.5 million per year since 09.
Sigh . . . Another missed opportunity

Can we get back to you or do we have to say this was an awesome trade right now?
+1 Let's see how we like the acquisitions AFTER they have played some pro ball? (Hairston has done ok)
-
Assuming Fitz stays healthy, we should be somewhere in 9-7, 10-6, 11-5 territory. We still play in a tough division, so I think anything above 11 wins is highly optimistic. (But I'm hoping for the best).
Go Bills!

After watching the Rob Johnson montage in another thread I say we bring the old surfer boy back if we need an emergency QB.
The dude (now 39 yrs old) hasn't thrown a pass in the NFL since 2004. Let it goooo . . .
-
Trying to remember the last time the Bills used up all their QB's and had to turn to the emergency QB.
I say we go with Stephon Gilmore.
HIGH SCHOOL STATS: "Named "Mr. Football" for the state of South Carolina... helped his team to a perfect 15-0 record and the South Carolina AAAA Division II title as a senior... Rushed for 1,331 yards and 23 touchdowns and passed for 1,771 yards with 14 scores... rushed for 119yds and passed for 69 yards and another score in the state championship game win over Northwestern... played quarterback in the 72nd Shrine Bowl Game of the Carolinas...surpassed the 1,000-yard mark both passing and rushing in 2007.

Probably the best thing for the team, and maybe Drayton will get picked up by someone else..
-
Just tragic; R.I.P. Junior . . .
-
Would be great to see the Bills getting more touchbacks on kickoffs. We got killed on kickoff returns last season.
-
Oh to be 20 again . . .

The link just doesn't get old. Should be a pinned post at least through next week!
