What is better, no guns, or more guns?
Azalin replied to Security's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
"I think most of the people in this room would have done that, too," said Mr Trump on Monday of his assertion that he would have rushed into the school. http://www.bbc.com/news/43202075 There you go, pal - there's the rest of the quote for ya'. I found it in the same article, too. -

Ain't that some $#&%! Purchased from Strait Music in Austin TX back in 2007. It was an import from Canada at the time, but now there are apparently plenty of them at the AMS warehouse. -

That's a more fair characterization of the president's suggestion than "Our president is asking school teachers to inflict death on another human being". For what it's worth, I don't care for the idea either but I think we can be a little more fair to him than that. -

Is this a statement that you truly feel accurately characterizes the president's words? -
I'm independent of party affiliation too, but that doesn't or shouldn't mean I support policy based on 50% from column A and 50% from column B. In my opinion, there's nothing to gain by supporting all middle-of-the-road positions. Wisdom is often lacking in both parties, so why look for a compromise between self-serving idiots and corrupt morons? That's the last place I'd look for anyone I could call a real statesman.

Yep. Yep. Yeah, you've caught a lot of grief in that thread. I can't remember if I've ever posted anything in that thread or not, but I've kept up with most of it. For what it's worth, a lot of people who post here support legalization for a multitude of reasons. I don't smoke it anymore, but I fully support it too. Whether it's fair or not, some people here will make fun of you for being a stoner. Relentlessly. On the other hand, by continuing to add to the thread as you do, you've built up a pretty good reference source for information on the medical potential of marijuana.

You know, you've been venting here for a couple of days now, and so far you've done absolutely nothing but show everybody how absolutely weak you are, both emotionally and intellectually. You start by posting an anti-NRA rant, and then become not just defensive, but rude, belligerent, and insulting when challenged. There has been nothing intellectual about anything you've posted. For some reason, you seem to think that you have a monopoly on anger over the deaths of innocent students. That's your own political bias clouding your common sense, which I suspect is in short supply even in the best of times. Now you're doing nothing but trolling. This is a forum, not a place for butthurt little candyasses to libel others. Grow up. Grow a pair. Some day, you might be afforded a seat at the adult's table. Until then, %$#@ off.

Disappointing ain't the word. If you want to discuss issues with a more thoughtful, leftist/democrat around here I would suggest (sorry for any misspellings) Doc Brown, GoBills808, Cugalabanza, and TPS. All are at least left-leaning, not all are partisans. They all bring a respectable degree of thoughtfulness to their arguments, without the screaming hissy fits that too often accompany these kind of discussions. Each has at least given me pause to reconsider something at one time or another. And don't be fooled into thinking that all of us taking a conservative position in any given argument are all in lock-step agreement on everything else. Far from it. While we may all feel strongly about preserving the second amendment, we vary greatly on other topics. If you stick around, you'll begin to see how we all tend to lean differently depending on the issue at hand.

If you're going to parody John Lennon, I would remind you that he also taught us that happiness in a warm gun. Bang bang, shoot shoot, mother$#@%er. -

Is the implication here that those who disagree with your stance are simply unwilling to question their beliefs? -

I know a few public school teachers, and every single one of them I've spoken with is of two minds on the subject; they are not against faculty, resource officers, or administration carrying concealed firearms as long as they are well-trained and licensed to do so, but none of them are willing to carry firearms themselves. The notion of having to pull a gun on a student is completely contrary to why they took up teaching in the first place. I had to laugh at the mention of body armor - my mom was a teacher, and even in her prime she was a tiny lady. I can just imagine her getting ready for work every morning, strapping on the bulletproof vest, the kevlar jacket, helmet, etc, etc, etc. -

Is your implication that the problem with mass murders in our country is legal gun owners? -
"In other words, Hamilton 68 won’t let anyone review their dashboard to determine in any way if they’re tracking actual Russian propaganda bots, or just conservative Americans who, for instance, care about FISA abuse. Yet Hamilton 68’s claims are repeated uncritically by a media that asks no questions about the methodology."

You know, I think I'm beginning to see his point. Of course today, nearly 300 years later, our society has grown and evolved, and has different needs than way back when those dusty old amendments were crafted. In fact, with our current environment being one of such violence and discord, I think it's about time we shut down dangerous speech such as his, so somebody needs to shut down KW95's account, and if he persists in publishing his dangerous rhetoric, he should be arrested.

"What is most disturbing is that no one in the media appears to have reviewed the language of the dossier. Whether the primary author is Steele or a Russian associate, the dossier is a mess, both in its content and in its style. A former KGB spy who defected to the United States, Konstantin Preobrazhenky, did not feel qualified to assess the language of the dossier. English is not his first language. As to content, however, he told us, "There is no information in the dossier whatsoever. It's just foolish speculation. There are no references. It is not an intelligence document of any kind. I was laughing when I was reading it."
