I am just doing the same ***** you all do whenever anyone tries to talk politics and you don't agree with it. Why even try when we can just play your games against you.
That's absolute bull####. This is the first time I've ever responded to you, and I do not play games with anyone. That's why I usually let your nonsense pass without comment.

No not a sub forum but go buy your own domain. You can be all the crazy you want and tell all the false stories to make yourselves feel better.
It sounds to me like you're the one who needs their own domain. You obviously can't deal with it over here. All you do is taunt and troll. Do you really have nothing better to do?

My understanding is that this decision was made by @SDS personally.
He has made a decision that certain viewpoints are unwelcome on his board.
Make this hurt for him.
That is very disappointing if true. His help was invaluable in launching PPP. I can only go by what I'm reading in this thread, but it appears that some people are unable to ignore posters with whom they disagree, and have taken to advocating for having them silenced. Losing Greg will hurt this board badly.

So if you’re one of his supporters who believe the virus is fake, I wonder how you react to this news?
I can't think of anyone here who thinks the virus is fake.

On the other side of things are the crimes that are never punished due to law enforcement policies or police/prosecutors doing favors for some. In Chicago you can literally shoplift, break into parked cars, steal cars, steal purses and do other non-violent crimes and the police won't even pursue it even if you're caught on camera.
I imagine part of the reason for that is the sheer volume of crime that Chicago police deal with every day. In Travis County, the police will most definitely come after you for most of the crimes you listed, whether it's caught on camera or not.

Would rather have the DA beholden to the populace rather than the Governor or the County Executive. (Even with your concern about conviction rate.)
I would normally agree, but since DAs routinely tout their conviction rates as qualification for reelection, the incentive to generate more convictions is enough to cause some prosecutors (re the Morton case I cited above) to withhold evidence that would prevent obtaining a conviction. I personally would rather a few guilty go free than see even one innocent incarcerated.

We’re all aware of Kamala Harris actively withholding exculpatory evidence in order to get convictions. Do you think she’s alone? We had a rather high profile case north of here around 9 years ago. A man served 25 years before exculpatory evidence in the form of a bloody bandana that prosecutors had withheld revealed a different man's DNA.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Morton_(criminal_justice)
I don't know if it would help at all, but I think making the position of district attorney an appointed position instead of an elected one might remove some of the DA's desire to maintain a high conviction rate, something that's always touted come election time.

I would recommend to put on ignore all the posters who had add little to no value. Also, if you see a new account created and they start off with similar level of mouth-breather level of trolling - slap them with an IGNORE.
Makes things more tolerable.
I couldn't possibly agree with this more. Who knows, there may be a few posters who would stop trolling and might actually take a more mature approach to posting under a new ID if that's the only way they could get a response from people.
(wishful thinking, I know)

“Parade of fools?” Who might they be? People who don’t share your worldview?
and inciting anger? With what, exactly? A competing viewpoint? Maybe the solution to your problems is to have an open mind.
Sounds to me like I not only struck a nerve, but maybe even inspired a little self-awareness.

I know everyone's got to be sick of hearing me say it, but STOP REPLYING TO OBVIOUS TROLLS.
The only reason they post the nonsense they do is because they know people will respond, and a few will be outraged. Every time you engage one of them you're letting them pull your strings. If Tibs told you to jump, would you do it? If no, then why do you respond to the nonsense?
An important point to consider: To argue with an idiot, you've got to stoop to the idiot's level. When you do, all anyone else sees are two idiots arguing. This goes for everyone. Every time you reply to an obvious troll, you invite them to continue trolling. Stop it.
Some people haven't been around long enough to see it, but there was a time when most of us who lean to the right would debate with each other over all kinds of issues. A person could learn a lot if they kept an open mind and a civil tongue. We don't have that anymore, and it's our fault.
It's our fault for engaging with the never ending parade of fools, because that gives them license to continue coming back, one sock puppet after another.
I respect and appreciate DR's attempt to call attention to what's obviously a serious issue, but I believe the source of the problems are not the ones inciting anger and running to the mods, it's those of us that encourage them to do so by engaging them.
If PPP goes away, it will be on us, not them.

I mentioned in another thread (probably the covid-19 thread) that many people that used to work in downtown Austin are now working from home. We got slammed at work in recent months installing high-priority, high-capacity fiber optic data circuits designed to provide access for employees to work from home. Many were for private business, but many were also for state agencies. Traffic in and out of downtown is a fraction of what it normally is, and I suspect that it will remain that way for quite some time. What few restaurants that are open are operating on a shoestring budget with reduced-capacity seating. Many are closed for good. Bars and clubs are really hurting, with iconic music venues going away forever. COVID-19 is having a massive impact on Austin businesses, much of which I believe will be permanent.
One industry that's going gangbusters is the collective delivery services. I've been having my groceries delivered for a couple years now, but since COVID I've been getting beer and liquor delivered, have had my laundry picked up and delivered, and have increased my Amazon purchases, as well as my food orders from both Grubhub and DoorDash. In a post-COVID world I would imagine some of that to fall off to an extent, but I believe the availability of delivery services will continue to grow now that it's in place.

1992 - Perot
1996 - Dole (not much of a choice - voted against Clinton after he admitted to smoking weed but claimed he didn't inhale it.)
2000 - Bush
2004 - Bush
2008 - McCain (not much of a choice - voted against Obama)
1012 - Romney (again, same as above)
2016 - Trump (completely fed up with 'traditional candidates' and rabidly anti-Hillary)
2020 - unless something truly outrageous happens, will vote for Trump again.

I brought this subject up some time ago in another thread but thought it might be worth its own thread with a little variation. Today I sent away for over $250 worth of supplements that are made in the USA and not China. I had previously ordered some of these supplements but today I completely weaned myself off China supplements. Not only do we owe China a big FU for their duplicity with Covid-19 but their products are often not worthashit. How do we know that the tumeric curcumin supplement from China is real and not colored plaster dust? Face it, we can't trust China in anything and as a country we should be very wary of buying their products.
While I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do I'm encouraging anyone reading this to take a second look at what they are purchasing and consider eliminating or limiting products from China. This is a good thread to post any decisions you've made in regards to purchases either from or not from China. BTW, eliminating Chinese products from out lives is not an easy thing to do. The day after I first posted about this I saw on a store shelf an item that I was going to order online and picked it up. Later when I took it from its package I noticed that it was made in China. I at first kicked myself but then realized that if I really wanted that product this was the only brand available. We can't be perfect in doing this but we can make a difference if we at least try. Post away.
I'm 100% on board with this and have been boycotting China in this manner at every opportunity.

I've been urging folks to ignore the trolls for a couple years at least, but too many just can't seem to help themselves. Engaging them has invited more and more. That alone is not enough to chase me away, but with the recent bannings I think it's finally enough.
