You're drawing conclusions from ONE incident (or 4, if you want to take the entire plan and expand it). So in the past 30 years, there's been ONE attack. Non-muslim terrorists? How about Atlanta olympics? Unibomber? Oklahoma City? That's three. Even if you count 9/11 as four separate incidents, that's still only a 4-3 ratio and hardly something to draw conclusions on. Oh, those three don't count because it wasn't on a plane. CW
-
He's referring only to muslin terrorists. See, if you exclude all other terrorists other than muslin ones, then almost all terrorists are muslim! CW
-
Have anything to back that up with? Or you just using anecdotal evidence you get from the media? Oklahoma ring any bells? CW
-
Right, because the towel on their head gives them their magical terroristic powers. Take off the towel, and they're absolutely powerless. Remind me again, how many arabs have hijacked planes in the last 3+ years? Yeah, that's what I thought. CW

That's what I was thinking. I still think that, had domestic abuse been obvious (ie: "her had was mashed to a pulp") that there would already have been charges against the husband. What do they hope to accomplish by doing an autopsy 15 years later? IMHO, nothing - it's just a smokescreen by the parents to make the husband look bad. My favorite (from the "Let Terri Live" site) was when they said something like, "Yeah, three doctors said that she'll never recover, but those doctors were picked by the husband!!!! We picked two doctors who said she'll be fine." Ummm, so his doctor's were hand selected because they were willing to say she won't ever recover, but how is that different from the parents selecting doctors who are saying she can recover? Same thing, different side. Oh well. I knew there was a reason I don't frequent PPP very often. CW

Internal bone bruises are not the same as putting "her into the vegetative state by beating her head to a pulp." CW

Yeah, makes me think the hospital where she was taken has a bunch of blind imbeciles working there if they can't tell that someone's head has been beaten to a pulp. CW

Three years isn't "very quickly," IMHO. As I said in a previous post, it's very common for people to meet in support groups for cancer victim's - even when the other spouse is still alive. I just don't think 3 years is "jumping the gun" at all. CW

Hey, I like carrots! We used to order from places in Niagara Falls that gave carrots as well. CW -
Again, 3 years after the incident. What's the problem? Still need that second cup VA? I don't know, if I had to put up with everything he's gone through, I'd at least want the life insurance that I had already paid for. Also, if it really was her wish to not be in this state (and who knows if that's true), wouldn't it be wrong for him to just walk away? As Rockpile said in a previous thread, this is why everyone should have a living will; makes all of this moot. CW

Appology accepted. I don't see a problem with the guy dating after his wife had been "dead" for 7 years. My wife and I were talking about it last night, and she had a friend in highschool whose mother died of cancer. While she was still alive (but bedridden), her husband was going to a support group for people who had spouses dying of cancer. After his wife died, he was remarried less than a year later. Apparantly, that's fairly common. I don't understand why he's being villified for having a relationship with another woman while his wife is, for all intents and purposes, dead. This isn't like Christopher Reeve (aka Superman) who was still alive, still able to communicate, still was himself only paralyzed. This woman can't do anything. Villify him for other things if you want, but the girlfriend thing is ridiculous IMHO. CW

Granted, I havn't followed this thing in anywhere near as much depth as it appears people here have. That said, it's my understanding that he started going out with this new woman in ''98 (according to a timeline on CNN.com). His wife had been "dead" for what, 7 years? You're faulting the guy for finding someone else after 7 years? That's not very realistic. Again, I'm basing this on the CNN.com timeline I read last week. CW

Hey, he's getting a free vacation (1) out of it! CW (1) If by vacation, you mean working in my basement 24x7 until he's done

Well, he did offer me references if I was interested, and said that he is insured... However, the idea of references is pretty lame IMHO, as you know everyone's only going to give you people they know will say something positve, no? I just bought you a roundtrip ticket from Buffalo to Minneapolis -- $334. What kind of beer should I buy for ya? Thanks for the input everyone -- it all makes sense so I think I'll pass and hire someone to do it for me. It'll save me money anyway, as my projector is perfectly fine, just not as good as the newer stuff (I'm still kicking myself for buying it when I did -- had no idea this stupid project would take so long to start! ). Thanks all! CW

As some know, I'm in the process of finishing my basement. I have nearly no skill when it comes to this sort of thing, so I've been getting friends and family to help me out for the most part... Anyway, I'm part of a Twin Cities Home Theater mailing list, and there was a guy wanting to buy my projector (I bought it two years ago, but have only used it for about 150 hours because of the problems with the basement). The projector 's worth roughly $900 on eBay, maybe a little more. I was thinking of selling it to this guy and buying a newer one, when he asked if I'd be interested in his services instead. He's willing to hang a screen door, install a Dricore subfloor (http://www.dricore.com) and do the trimwork in the basement (two regular doors, one bifold door, one egress window) for the projector. I'll be paying for the materials, he'd do all of the installation. I havn't gotten any quotes for this stuff yet, but it sounds reasonable to me (for example, Menards wanted $139 to install the screen door).. What do you guys think? CW

I'd rather Lucas make Star Wars 7-9, but this might be kinda neat... We'll see. http://slashdot.org/articles/05/03/18/1425...7&tid=126&tid=1 Anyone see the Polar Express in 3D at an IMAX theater? I didn't, but it was supposed to be cool (similar concept as this) CW

And that's why I think being in IT right now isn't such a bad thing. These things go in cycles, and I fully believe that in 5-10 years, corporations will realize that it's very difficult to outsource everything to other countries and that they're not getting the value that they expected. It's already happening on a small scale and I think that will continue. And if you look at it, the call centers that are going overseas are for consumers, not corporations. When I need to call HP because I'm having a server problem, I get someone from the US (or Canada). Same thing for Veritas, Sun, etc. Consumers (and I'm guilty of this) want their products at a low price -- how can Dell sell you a computer for $399, but still provide top-notch tech support? They can't. To keep the price low, they have to outsource their consumer call center somewhere cheaper. On the other hand, go out and buy a highend workstation (for ~$2,500) from Dell/HP/etc, and I bet you get much better tech support (I know I did with my Compaq SP750 dual Xeon workstation I bought 3+ years ago). Dell still needs to make a profit, and selling PCs for $400 isn't giving them much of a profit margin, especially if people call tech support. What that means is that, if there are less people getting computer science degrees now, it will make them that much more valuable in 10 years when/if companies start migrating back. I hope I'm right... Here's a link of failures, including Dell's attempt at moving corporate tech support overseas and then bringing it back here: http://www.ebstrategy.com/Outsourcing/cases/failures.htm CW
