I still disagree. You're spending money to fight against one specific attack. So now, instead of someone bringing the bomb to an NFL game, they'll bring a bomb to a college game. Or a basketball game. Or a subway. Or a Broadway show. You're simply displacing the attack vector, not stopping the attack. In essence, you're wasting $25,000,000/year. I'm against the personal privacy portion of it as well, but even if you take that out of the equation it still doesn't make sense. Or do we only care about football because that's the sport we go to most often? CW

Way to make a comment without even reading the articles or book I said would open up your eyes. Warning! ID-ten-T error. CW

And you're the exact type of person they're targeting with these "feel good" window dressings. Placate the masses, regardless of effectiveness. Maybe if you did a little research into security, you'd realize how ridiculous this measure is, "privacy" or not. I highly reocmmend reading some of Bruce Schneier's articles: http://www.schneier.com/crypto-gram.html Crypto-gram comes out once a month and is a must-read, IMHO. Or one of his books, specifically this one: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=books&n=507846 It'll open up your eyes, assuming you're willing to have them opened. CW

And again, how is a patdown going to stop anyone? Even if the 9/11 terrorists were patted down, nothing would've changed. Patdowns = RJ CW
-
You can't only look at the threat - you have to look at how effective the security solution is to stopping the threat. How many times has a patdown uncovered someone with a bomb? Even using your own concerns, how many times has someone brought a bomb into a football game? Into a sporting event in general? Aside from the Olympics (which I'm not sure was even in a restricted area, was it? My understanding was that it was equivelent to someone blowing a bomb up during a tailgate party at the Ralph but I could be mistaken). Are you in favor of patting down everyone going into a school (since you mentioned Columbine)? You'd want your child touched by a stranger every single day they went to school? How about every time they walk into the local Walmart? Patdowns have never stopped anything. They're a waste of money and an invasion of privacy. Either the NFL is doing this for window dressing, or they're doing it to stop people from smuggling in food, thus increasing their concession revenue. CW

Right, and they don't turn around and charge the tax payers or the fans that fee, they're just ready to make $76,800 less this year... They're exactly the same concept. You don't like something about the product, so you shouldn't buy it. I'd like to know what you think is different about them. CW

I don't know about you, but I've never been patted down at an airport... The only time that happens (from my experience) is if you setoff the metal detector. Don't carry metal with you, no patdown. I'm in favor of the lawsuit because patdowns do NOTHING to increase security - it's all window dressing, and it's costing taxpayers money. Who do you think is paying the overtime for all of the extra people who need to do the pats? How quick we are to give up any civil liberties (and tax dollars) in this country, all in the name of "security." http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...ne/050920&num=0 http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2005...ity_pat_do.html I'm guessing the people saying, "Deal with it, and if you don't like it, don't buy a ticket," are the same ones saying, "If Hollywood wants to put DRM on all of their movies so that you can't make a backup, or if the RIAA wants to put DRM on all of their music so you can't use it on an iPod, then just don't buy those products!" Lame argument. CW

Hall of Fame for Moon, Drew and Testaverde?
Fezmid replied to Max Fischer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, why wouldn't he? He already has over 40k yards passing (roughly 7000 yards more than Kelly had in only 17 more games; that's an average of 411 yards/game!), so the argument that he's racking up stats because of longevity is bogus. He took a team to the Superbowl (twice, if you count the game against Pittsburgh while in NE). Even in Buffalo, he only had one losing season (from a team that was 3-13 the year before). He's now lighting it up in Dallas again. He's also a VERY respected player -- good image both on and off the field - and that will factor into the voters decision. If he continues his career for a few more years, makes the playoffs once or twice, I think he'll make it no problem. First ballot? Maybe, maybe not. CW -
How many of the players on the current roster will be here next year? I know we returned most of our players from last year, so I'm assuming that means we'll have a lot of FAs next year. Why WOULDN'T they want to win now, if they're not going to be here later? Especially given the fact that they went 9-7 last year and just narrowly missed the playoffs. I don't think they're being selfish at all. CW

...except complete passes.

I almost bought tickets to the game, but my wife had a midterm tonight... Plus, I didn't really want to pay $85/ticket for a bar stool I heard Cooke got leveled last night. Guy clotheslined him and the refs turned the other cheek. Gotta love his reputation CW

Happy BDay. I hit 30 this past May. My grandmother sent me a card and on the front it said, "Remember when you thought that 30 was old?" You open the card and it says, "You were right!" D'oh! Thanks a lot gradma! CW

Yeah, but he's so small, he'd probably bounce off of Vinny like a gnat. CW

I doubt the Jets would be cringing in their boots if they saw Parrish lining up to start the game... It's not like anyone needs to gameplan around him (yet?). CW

That goes without saying.

Hall of Fame for Moon, Drew and Testaverde?
Fezmid replied to Max Fischer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last I checked, Bledsoe has a Superbowl ring and an AFC Championship ring. That's probably why he ignores the fans CW -
At what point do we HAVE to play JP?
Fezmid replied to nick in* england's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we're 5-3 (or even 4-4), I'll mortgage next year. CW -
Hall of Fame for Moon, Drew and Testaverde?
Fezmid replied to Max Fischer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I said before, I don't see how you can say averaging over 3100 yards/season is padding your stats... Testeverde, yes - he's only averaging 2479yds/season. For the record (and to add more fuel to the "Aikman is overrated camp), Aikman's career QB rating is only 81, four points higher than Bledsoe's current rating that eveyrone says sucks. CW -
Hall of Fame for Moon, Drew and Testaverde?
Fezmid replied to Max Fischer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, I disagree -- Drew has comparable stats to Testeverde in roughly 6 less seasons. I've read a lot of people give that argument (If Bledsoe gets in the Hall, then Testeverde does too), but I just don't think they're valid comparisons based on years played. If Bledsoe plays another 5 years, just think of what his stats will be. Even if he only throws for 2000 yards/season, that still puts him at over 51,000 yards. CW -
Just saw three movies with very different results
Fezmid replied to Talonz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=31710 The TV show is already out on DVD (and has been for over two years): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...&s=dvd&n=507846 It's currently the #5 top selling DVD at Amazon, and I"ve never seen it below 15 in the 2+ years it's been out. Everyone I've introduced to the show has absolutely fallen in love with it. You'll love the series, especially if you thought the movie was pretty good. CW -
I want Buffalo to win a Superbowl. Who's with me? CW

You'll probably have to wait until next week to get the results. http://tv.yahoo.com/nielsen/ EDIT: Nevermind, here ya go: http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/...7997|1|,00.html CW

My wife likes hockey WAY more than I do. She even camped out for Minnesota Wild tickets a couple of years ago. Got there at 8pm, and didn't get to buy the tickets until around noon the next day. Crazy. I wouldn't even do that for Bills regular season tickets! CW

Have you watched any Cowboys games this year? He's been moving around well, throwing screen passes (!!!) well, and even has a rushing TD. Then again, maybe you're right -- maybe he took the cut as a wakeup call and wouldn't have done those things here. CW

My in-laws will be going out there on Jan 1st for about a week. Unfortunately, they're Packers fans... I've always thought working in IT for one of the casinos could be a fun job. I just don't want to move to a desert... Have fun! CW
