I think every registered member should make a thread on what they predict will happen tomorrow.
Oh god please no.
-
Because he's gonna be better than Julius Peppers (according to C. Casserly). But I dont think you need worry. I think he's gone before 10 even if 2 QBs are taken.
And we seem to like D-Linemen with bum shoulders anyway.
Seriously I have not heard that Allen was likely to drop for health related issues. Maybe I'm just not up to date tho.
He's been lowered by some yes. Still a good player from a great program; I am just a bit sour on drafting injured/potentially injured players given recent history.
-
Ugh why J Allen? He of 2 arthritic shoulders?Hmmm... two QBs go in the top 10, J. Allen falls to us, then we scoop bad boys Foster and Conley at 44, 75 or trade up and call it a day. Three high to mid-first rounders and the D is transformed for years to come.
I know its not happenin'.

Good stuff. I love TG on twitter - he gets a lot of salt thrown his way but very entertaining. No mention of Whaley?
-
No inside info but just looking at it from the outside, it's possible that she said she wanted to watch, so that she could be there to protect her friend if needed. Assume alcohol involved, friend might have been afraid to leave her.
It sounds like she went to Conley's room alone with him; 2 other people (who it sounds like she also did not know) were in the room already. Whoever she was with did not accompany her. Again, sketchy reports so take it with a grain of salt. Which is why it is a little unbelievable that so many people here are already assuming it's a false claim/money grab.

This thread got really dark, really quickly
Lotta assumptions flying around based on basically nothing.
-
If Mike G was such a steal why did it take so long to get an offer? Why only one team?
Probably a function of the attitude towards the position in general around the league. Ex-starters still looking for work too.
-
That's what I mean. False premise.
I think you can make a good argument that this was a shrewd move by the Bills, albeit one that is small.
I bet they are really high on JW, wanted to find a way to get him more carries, knew that it wouldn't happen if they resigned MG or tendered him for a 2nd. So they dangled him for a fifth and got the Pats to bite.
This is obviously speculation but I think very possible.
Gotcha. Yeah if that was their thought process it makes sense. I hope the faith in JWill is well founded though.
-
They got Cooks from the Saints.
Great point - that slipped my mind. Factoring that in I'm inclined to agree. They did lose Bennett though.
-
False.
More of an unknown at this point than demonstrably true/false.
-
NE won the SB and is a better team now then they were then. The Bills are worse right now then at the end of the season.
They might still lose butler, and be replacing him with gilmore. They will be replacing blount with burkhead/gillislee. I don't think your contention is that clear cut yet.
-
It's funny because Whaley seems so cavalier with draft picks with certain moves, then does this with Gillislee. I don't know what it means, but it doesn't appear that he has a cohesive strategy (as opposed to a team like Green Bay, for example).
-
I think everyone here (minus the idiots) feel for the guy and hope he's okay. I have no ill will for cyrus i think he'll be fine. Unless i am missing something this was one incident? Whatever. Still cool with me glad he's on the team.
-
Pfff. You assuming he is "sick" or has some sort of mental disorder based on initial reports of an isolated incident is more insensitive (and arrogant) than people joking about it chief.so mocking a sick young man is entertainment?
I am in the wrong place then.
carry on.
-
How hard is it to stay out of trouble? These guys need personal handlers just to get through the offseason. They have a gift and far too often we see examples of what not to do....They just throw it all away.
Ha you have no idea about the kid's mental state or condition at the time, or if drugs or any other illegality was involved. So way to jump to a stupid conclusion. Trouble? He wasn't even arrested.
-
If anything, hopefully this will motivate Whaley to really hit the books these last few days before the draft. Don't screw up!
-
Well that's dark.I think we should all chip in and buy a new bed sheet for all of the Patriots maybe they will follow Hernandez
-
Also, this idea is horrible
Seconded.
-
we replaced him with MG 5.7
You're obviously still participating in your thread, so why not fix your title?
-
Better add "apparent" to the thread title to appease these conspiracy theorists.
-
Easy to say a replacement backup RB can simply be drafted late, but that would require ignoring how good MG has been. Various advanced stat places rank MG up there as the most efficient RB in the league. Burkhead, another Pats target, is generally right behind him. DVOA and other advanced stats measuring efficiency can be skewed by sample size sure, but it is highly telling that the Pats roll out of another championship season targeting these 2 guys. MG may actually be worth the extra $$$.
-
Yep. I would bet right after the draft we hear he is gone
I think the right time for firing Whaley this year has come and gone. What exactly does a new GM do brought on right after the draft do? Work on signing all the rookies he had no hand in drafting?
-
Whaley himself said you have to build through the draft and we have the fewest draft picks on the roster than any team in the nfl..... you cannot rely on Free Agency
Yes he absolutely needs to draft better. I was not trying to suggest otherwise.
-
The press leaks haven't been kind to Whaley, especially in the national coverage. Those paint the whole ship in a bad light. But overall, Whaley's been pretty decent from a strict personnel standpoint. Moreso in free agency than the draft, but still.
I think the current narrative is Whaley's had his wings clipped by ownership (and perhaps Brandon, and the head coaches, who have all been owner-hired) and thus doesn't really wield that much power anymore. If that's true, then sure he ranks towards the bottom, simply by reason of being ineffectual.

Pfff. I've "heard" a lot of things first here, especially lately. Guy projects as one of the best tight ends to come out in years and has zero injury concerns currently. I'm sure you'll be back to eat your words if you're wrong though right?
