LOL, what makes you think Youboty can replace Nate? Tell me what he has done this year to prove it....
Andree Johnson & Marvin Harrison would have taken Youboty to school if he was to cover them! Thats not an asumption, thats the facts.
okay, since he covered them this year... not
p.s. it's assumption. and you're not stating facts, you're speculating.

Was it me or did it seem like Whitner was always falling when making a break to cover a offensive player?
But there is a part of me that thinks he can adjust to the NFL speed next year.
i agree. but this is his rookie year, the year he'd have been a senior in college. (right?)
i think that it's common for players to improve by leaps and bounds from their rookie to second years. so yeah, i think he's going to do a lot better in that aspect next year.
-
From what I have seen of him this year, Whitner has not demonstrated that he has the coverage skills to play CB. He has had trouble covering Tight Ends, so Wide Receivers will be even harder.
yeah, my thoughts exactly. granted, antonio gates is the best TE in the biz at running routes and catching, but whitner wasn't able to even hinder gates. :?

yeah, tank johnson goes against the whole 'character' category that we're supposedly trying to go towards, so i don't think he's even an option

Next time they run the NFL replay add check out the Bengal’s cheerleader they show with Chad Johnson. You only see her for a couple seconds. Good god oh mighty.
the blonde on the right?

Well sure...and the fact that both those Defenses have/had multiple Pro Bowlers...The Bills are no where near the talent level of either the old Tampa, or the current Bears D...Not even remotely close...
All that being said I do think the D will improve in 2007...It's just a matter of how much, and will it be enough?...
and did those multiple pro bowlers just magically appear after one year?
-
to those who say "ditch the cover 2"...
did the current bears and tampa bay of the past 10 years magically start dominating once they implemented the cover 2? no, it took a little while.
i wish we had a dunce icon here.

tell me about it. i dont recall ever seeing any other FB in the nfl games i've watched this year get a false start... much less 4 or 5 of them like shelton has managed to do.

i remember kelly washington being mentioned as the guy that tore apart one of the tennessee volunteers' seasons.. and chris henry is a headcase. i dunno about those guys.

i've never heard it called that, but from what i know (a group of?) people evaluate the players and estimate their draft position, and then the players decide if they want to come out or not.

I wasn't intending to disparage Mccalister who I agree is a very solid corner. But he's also one of the leagues most protected corners playing behind the talented and agressive front7 which he does, while Nate is one of the league's most exposed corner regilarly matching up against opponents top receivers and getting no help whatsoever from a front7 that never ever sems to get any interior push to force bad decisions and bad throws.
While I like McCalister, at this point in their careers he's nowhere near the caliber of player that Clements is.
You're right, McAlister has had the benefit of always playing with a good defense.. but I dunno about saying he's nowhere near the caliber of Clements.

ooh patrick pass could be our 3rd down back/jack of all trades, much like kevin faulk does for the pats.
