  1. $13 million spread over 4 years isn't too unreasonable. The $23 million figure is just "agent speak" as the only guarantees in the NFL are bonus money. He probably needs to hit a lot of performance goals to get to $23 million....if he doesn't, they won't be paid and if he does the contract will be cheap.

    :yeahthat:

he probably has a lot tied to 'funny money' like making 500k for getting 10 special teams tackles or something that's highly unlikely like that.

  2. Does anybody have his stats. Not saying he isn't great but was his prodution on the field above average. I know I have no life, but I have all the combine taped (which I haven't watched yet) and the Senior Bowl practices taped (which I have watched all of). Ryan Kalil handled him pretty easily in the pass blocking drills that I saw (take it for what it's worth). Not trying to be critical just wondering if he is more hype than production.... but he does seem to be a high character guy; which is never a negative.

Finally, has this off season been long or does it seem that Okoye has been the 19 year old phenom for about 2-1/2 years now. Go Bills !!

from what i saw of kalil, he was manhandling everyone lined up against him

  3. I never got to see him play either, so I'll just post a bio:

BIO: Two-year starter awarded All-Conference honors as a junior after posting 56/1/9. Tied for the Big 10 lead in interceptions as a sophomore with four.

POSITIVES: Nice-sized prospect who flashes ability as a shutdown corner. Fluid transitioning off the line, quick closing to the play and offers solid ball skills. Strong at the point and physically beats down opponents to defend the throw. Has a burst of closing speed breaking to the throw.

NEGATIVES: Suffered a hip pointer in the middle of his junior season and struggled during the second half of the year. Does not display a good sense of timing or wherewithal. Bites on play-action passes and seems to forget where he is on the field.

ANALYSIS: A good athlete with exceptional corner size, at times Youboty looked like a dominant player the past two years. Struggling down the stretch of '05, he offers tremendous potential yet has a ways to go before he is considered a complete player.

  4. This is my impression as well. I obviously haven't watched the film on him for the whole year, but it seems like every time I watched the Colts, I noticed him whiffing on tackles and being caught out of position. Then again, this could be just as much a symptom of the whole crappiness of the Colts Run D over the year, but it certainly did not leave me with a glowing impression of him overall.

    :yeahthat:

every game i saw of the colts he was missing tackles left and right.

    he is fast though.

  5. During yesterdays broadcast, they mentioned that the Pats OL gave up just 17 sacks the entire season...Ours gave up 47 sacks.....

If the line gives up only that much sacks, the QB can completely trust his line holding up and then he can pick and chose out of his 4 WRs and throw......The QB play is all about confidence and that confidence comes in the fact that your OL is going to give you the time to make that throw.....and that is exactly what the line did for the Pats yesterday....

I don't know how the Pats OL does their pass protection, but it does work very effectively.

I think it was either Peyton Manning or Steve McNair that was sacked 17 times.

  6. I blame that hit on Brees. Why float the ball to him id throw a dart give him a chance to get his head turned. But man, Bush got blown up on that play! I wasnt sure if he was going to get up, but he did and was a major part of his team winning.

Brees was counting on Sheldon Brown to follow Stecker away from Reggie Bush ...

  7. Crowell is too small to play ILB-especially on this team. If anything, we need a big backer who shreds blocks, has great instincts, and flows to the ball.

Shelton Quarles has played, and excelled at MLB for Tampa Bay for several years weighing 10 pounds less than Angelo Crowell.

  8. I find it very presumptious of you to come along and annoint this the Official Nate Clements / CB Thread. What does that say about the Clements threads that have come before yours? Is it possible that you will squash future discussions because people don't want to interfere with your Official thread? Shouldn't we promote a free flowing dialog where everyone feels enabled to post their thoughts on Clements in individual threads? Doesn't this official thread demean the unofficial ones? Did someone die and annoint you the Official thread starter?

    Fer gosh sakes.

You're right - what a pompous idea to have a single thread about him instead of 100000 different ones with 3 posts each about him.

    Gawsh, what an idgit!

  9. I would not be shocked at all if a MLB is drafted in the first round. How many times has Marv brought up that Shane Conlan draft pick war story, anyway? He can also probably see that a guy like Jonathan Vilma is a better player than Fletcher.

that's laughable. if you think fletcher is the king of the downfield tackle, then vilma is the emperor.
