1. This is the kind of asshat response to a discussion that I believe creates evidence of that fact that the fan of today is not what it used to be.

The fact is that there are often many visiting fans at the stadium because tickets can be bought, unlike in their team's home stadiums. Buffalo makes for a good road trip for many of them if they want to see their team play live at all during the season.

However pointing that fact out results in the ridiculous "if you don't like it don't show up response". B-)

He just went on & on about how the gameday experience is horrible. Why would he subject himself to that aggravation?

From my experience, gameday at the Ralph is awesome. But what do I know, I have just been going to the games for the last 13 years.

  2. I live in Rochester, so it is a little different for me. I am not familiar with any of the back ways. We take the expressway all the way to Route 90. If the game us over by 4:00, we will not get home until between 7:00 or 7:30.

I didn't say that visiting teams had more fans than Bills fans, but it is not uncommon for there to be between 10,000 and 15,000 Patriots or Jets fans at our home games, and many of them outnumber Bills fans in certain sections. That is all that I was implying.

If you dont like it, then why dont you just go buy season tickets to the Rhinos & save yourself the aggravation.

  3. You are 100% correct in everything that you just said. While we might be one of the smallest markets in the league, we also have the lowest ticket prices. I will start by saying that I am not a seaosn ticket holder, but I do attend about 2 games per year.

I am probably going to get blasted on this but here goes.

The majority of our sellouts aren't even to Bills Fans. Attending a Patriots, Jets, Browns, or Steelers game is misleading, since their fans out number Bills fans in many of the sections.

The Gameday experience at Ralph Wilson Stadium is horrible. The traffic is terrible getting in and it is terrible getting out. The Jumbotron is pathetic so trying to watch a replay is torture, especially if you have to turn around 180 degrees to watch it because there is only one. Worst of all, going to the bathroom. If you go in between any quarter or halftime you are guaranteed to miss at least half of the upcoming quarter.

I am much happier having the same group of friends over every week and wtaching it in HD at my house.

    792833

Im a season ticket holder. Park in lot 5 & live in Lancaster. Now me & my friends do go up to the game early(8am) so traffic is never a problem getting there. It takes 10 minutes to get into the parking lot from where I live. Getting out of the stadium is even easier. I never understand when people say it is impossible to get out of the stadium. Not from lot 5 it is not. We are usually home by 4:30. I cant speak for the other lots or other routes but we just take southwestern all the way home & never run into any traffic jams.

As far as having more fans of the visiting team then bills fan come on, that is exaggerating. There are 50,000 season ticket holders, right there that accounts for 70% of the stadium. It maybe more then in other cities(for opposing fans) but the ralph is still mostly comprised of bills fan except for the steeler game 2 years ago. That was ridiculous.

  4. oh I thought you were talking about the beginning of yesterdays game..a TON oe people got in late due to gate 9 being closed for the Clintons...

    792810

I got in 5 minutes into the 1st quarter. I have never seen the gates that backed up before.

As far as 20,000 empty seats at the end of the game, that is just wrong. The house was packed until the end. I dont know where some people get their information from.

  5. I have had season tickets for 11 years now(since I was 22). My advice to anybody that doesnt want to put up with this nonsense is simple. Stay out of the endzones, especially the scoreboard. Most of the visiting fans that do come occupy the scoreboard endzone & the other endzone(tunnel side) I think is where they give the discount season tickets so chances are you are going to have alot of college kids & younger kids that like to really party it up. Hey we were all that age once, in that respect I do understand. My section is 110, lower bowl around the 20 yard. There is never any problem there.

  6. Vincent has been stealing money from the bills for the last 3 years. The guy should of retired after Philly cut him loose. I guess if you could find a team naive enough to pay your salary, more power to you. I always got the sense with Vincent that althoug a standup guy, he was always condesending. I for one am glad he will never see the field again in a bills uniform. The only reason the bills kept Vincent over Baker in the first place is to not have an early season mutiny among the veterans in the lockerroom.

  7. sullivan actually made a decent point on the radio this morning. He said the young bills went into 2 hostile stadiums, division rivals, who are both looked as super bowl contenders by the so called experts, & this young offense did not turn the ball over once. He said that is almost unheard of.

When Dickie J was with the bears & they went 13-3, he won alot of games like the bills won yesterday. Stellar defense, great special teams, good field position, & a mistake free offense. Smart gameplan by Jauron & the boys. I think they realized somewhere towards the end of the 1st quarter that the only way that they were going to loose this game was if the offense turned the ball over, I think that is why they reverted to a conservative game plan. Not because because they have concerns about JP's so called lack of developement. Believe me their is going to come a time in this season, especially with the d being so young that they are going to have to open up the playbook & let Losman do his thing. I think the coaching staff has seen enough of Losman to have no reservations about doing this. The point is why get risky if you dont have to. Yesterday, with that smothering D they did not have to.

  8. RunTheDamnBall sez: "The difference is we beat cream puffs at the end of 04. "

And what cream puffs might those be?  I seem to recall us beating some good teams like the Seahawks (38 - 9) in thier house.  They won their division and went to the play offs that year.    We also beat jacksonville save for a bad pushed out of bounds call at the very end.

Don't get me wrong.  I expect great things this year.  Go BILLS.  Just Jonesin' for Ws ...

    773352

The seahawks went 8-8 that year & had no business being in the playoffs. They got bounced out by the Rams another 8-8 team at their own house in the 1st round

  9. You just defined rebuilding!!

    772704

If you think the bills are a better team right now with Vincent on the field you have not watch too many games closely for the last year & a 1/2. Vincent should of been out of football 3 years ago. The guy couldnt cover my grandmother right now & he is constantly getting dragged by runners all over the field. He should of been cut right along with Milloy.

  10. I love Spikes, I think he is one of the true warriors of the game. But his comments were way out of line yesterday. He has not won anything in Buffalo, or cincinatti for that matter. He should keep his mouth shut & play. The veterans on this team had 3-4 yrs under Donahoe to prove they could win. Guess what they could not do it. Guys like Vincent, his time is done, Simpson is going to make his mistakes, but the upside & athleticizm he brings to the team is enormous. I think it is a good move & spikes should be smart enough to be on board with it.

  11. I dont post here often, but I said it before the season when they shown Milloy the door they should of told him to take his sidekick with him Vincent has not been a decent football player since he left Philly. We will be better off without him. Hopefully they play Simpson or Bowen could return because I dont want to ever see Coy Wire on the field in a bills uniform again unless it is on special teams.

  12. Tsk Tsk Tsk...you guys are overlooking the most important element..the conspiracy element. You think the league is going to allow the Dolphins to go  0-2.

Watch the refs do their little dance on the Bills' heads again this week.

You Bills fans have to start dealing with reality...the script has already been written. We have NO chance Sunday.

    That's why I won't be watching.

    770836

As much as this is pessimistic, I almost have to agree. I think the bills are a better team, however they have 3 things going against them sunday, the dolphins, home field advantage & the refs. Noway does the league want the phins & Nick Saban be 0-2. The refs were a disgrace on sunday. Im not one to blame the refs usually but the lack of holding calls when I could see it right on my tv screen was disgusting.

  13. Donahoe did some good things here. It just that he wanted to play the role of the wild gunslinger too often.

With that being said, if someone offered a 5th round pick for Holcolmb I would be all over that like flies on sh--.

That fat sob just lost what little respect I had for him with that old comment. No need for it.

  14. It is just yet another example of the silver wind bag showing that he was going to be smarter then everybody else. I remember that draft like it was yesterday. No matter what anybody says there were only to blue chip tackles in the draft that year.(Levi Jones was considered a late first early second & Kiper & the rest of the morons on ESPN grilled the Bengals for this supposed reach). So it came down to Mckinney or Williams. In my view it was a no brainer. One tackle played the position we needed, one did not. One tackle never gave up a sack in college, one did not. One tackle utterly dominated Dwight Freeney on a hot December Saturday in South Florida, one did not. But yet Donablow was going to show us that he knew more football then everybody else. Kinda of the same thing happens when Donajerk was picking coaches. Conventional wisdom stated that the bills hire Marvin Lewis or John Fox, we get Greg Williams. The second time around, conventional wisdom stated we hire Charlie Weis, we get meathead. Im so happy he is no longer a part of the franchise I love.

  15. At the end of the day, Losman is still basically a rookie.  He's gonna make us stand and cheer one minute, then throw sh-- the next.  It's gonna be a bumpy ride this season.

I hope he continues to improve, taking the next step next season.  Much like McGee did last year, not a season removed from everyone wanting to bench him.

    748978

On the radio this morning Simon & Jeremy White stated that Losman actually looked pretty good last night & that they definately notice that he has been improving. Call me crazy but I think we are going to the Bowl this year.

  16. If you trust your scouts, general manager, and whoever else has a say in draft picks, you won't be afraid of the risk/reward.  If you don't trust those guys, you better get some guys you do trust.  Bailing out of the 1st isn't an option.

    745976

I agree. It is fine trading down once in awhile, but you better believe most good teams cores are built thru the 1st & high 2nd round picks. Anything lower then that, I think the success rate for a player to make it drops dramatically. You need those blue chippers to make up the core of your team & if you do have a high draft pick(top 10) you better not waste it or it could set your franchise back 2-3 years minimum(aka Mike Williams). Remember, with M Williams, the guy who was picked before us was Julius Peppers. Carolina had a pick before us because in the regular season we came back from a 12 point deficit in the 2nd 1/2 to beat Carolina & get one of our 3 wins that year. We loose that game, we are in a position to draft peppers. Funny how football works sometimes.
