  1. eff that dude.  we had them in a tight a$$ game, we're good.  we can almost win toe to toe vs the best team in the league.  we're actually good.  offense is behind the defense but was coming until a concussion.  hopefully our guy Josh learns a ton from this game and finds some peace/balance in his game so he won't have to fire the team up with some highlight run each week.

    Speedy recovery please No. 17

There are certain statistical benchmarks people like to throw around as a sign of a team's skill and strength. The 300-yard passing game is one. The lack of those games in Bills history is often cited.

And it's true that not being able to throw the ball effectively makes you a bad team. But what if you're a team that has an incredible defense that limits scoring? Would you still want to throw for 300/game if you didn't have to keep scoring?

I think about Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, or DeShaun Watson and the Texans. It's electrifying to have a QB and receivers that put up those numbers. But in their cases they have to do that because their defenses can't stop good teams from scoring. They have to win games 35-31.

But if the Bills defense plays like it did against the Jets all year, and the Bills offense is able to win games with a balance of run and pass, but never crack the 300 yard passing mark, does that make them a flawed team?

I think so.  Do we have the horses to play like that all year?  If Levi is hurt or another corner, or any of our other 10 of 11 returning starters are hurt?  I know our depth is just better across the board.  But we do not have studs on the bench yet, outside of maybe the D line.  So I think we do need our offense to take some strides closer to averaging 300 yards passing so if our D does get a little beat up we're a balanced team and the offense could actually carry the load when needed.  Our offense not being up to that task as of right now makes us a flawed team.

  3. My Uncle married a lady from Kenmore when I was a little kid.  My family is mostly Giants & Jets fans, but they're actually bigger baseball fans - Yankees & Mets.  So there wasn't a lot of football team-related pressure.

My Uncle & Aunt from Kenmore lived with my Mom and I in a 2 family house.  My Aunt's brother going to Buff State would spend summers living in our basement.  He taught me how to play chess - when I lost I'd have to make him a pb&j sandwich.  He also brought me to my first Bills game in Buffalo in 1994 and made me a Bills fan.
