  1. As a person, I have great respect for Tyrod. He has given a lot to the Bills team and has been all class. No drama and all effort plus willing to take a pay cut. Whenever he leaves the Bills, I will wish him well.

With that being said, we should be looking to upgrade if possible. My problem with Tyrod is if McD is looking for a pocket QB, he is not the type of QB you would want teaching the young guy how to read the field. I also don't think he should take a pay cut. He is a proven player at a position of need in the league. If he's not on the Bills, he'll be playing somewhere.

  2. I agree with the premise of your post. I was impressed with Lauletta's ability to throw accurately into tight windows yesterday. People have compared him to Garopolo. I have seen a lot of Rudolph but am not sure if he has the ability to thread it that accurately into tight windows. Most of the throws I see from him are to wide open receivers. White seems very sharp between the ears from what I have seen, but I'm not sure about his arm strength. I was a supporter of Rudolph - I'm not so sure now. There is still a lot to learn about these three. At this point, I don't know who to favor.

  3. Nice writeup. Hopefully we can get one more good-feeing wrap-up post from you after next week.

Re: McDermott - We may not all agree with all of his decisions, but he has done something really special with this club and that is building a TEAM. In all my years of watching NFL football, I have never seen a bunch celebrate the achievements of their teammates like this club does. They are disciplined and play selfless football. With all the players they let go and all the new players who came in, that is not an easy thing to do. It was such a contrast compared to watching the fins yesterday. I hope this ride can continue one more week!

  4. With defense, a lot of it seems to be how the players skills and abilities fit the system. These guys fit like a glove. Its a good sign that our coach can recognize talent that fits what he wants to do. Lets hope for another great draft this year.

Since the Bills are exorcising all their demons this weekend, time to give some pay back to the Jags for eliminating the Bills in Jim Kelly’s final playoff game. I believe we were favored in that game in Orchard Park.

I was there and remember that day. We definitely need some long term payback for that one.

  6. I am happy with him as coach. He is young and hungry. He is the best we have had since Marv or Wade. Yes, he is learning on the job but people who know the NFL all seem to speak highly of him. The two things this team needs is a solid QB and stability in the coaching and management positions. Finding a solid QB is one of the most difficult thing to do in pro sports. Give him time. I believe he will find one.

Constant turnover every 3 or 4 years is not going to lead to success. Personally, I think we have to prepare now to be ready for the decline of Brady. As long as Brady is performing well, we will have a tough time succeeding the way the NFL officiates games, regardless of our coach or QB. But someday, in the next few years, he will be injured or we will see his decline and we should be ready then with a solid QB and experienced coach. In the mean time, we shouldn't be firing good coaches just because they don't win the division.

There was also a stat thrown out on Twitter yesterday that the Pats lead the league in First down conversions by penalty!

That's not quite accurate. The correct stat was "Patriots now have 29 scoring drives on the season in which a penalty has given them an extra first down. Leads the NFL."  It still makes me sick thinking about the calls they get.

  8. While they are flawless, Chris Brown today on Twitter stated:

"The Patriots lead the league in scoring drives in which a penalty gives them an extra 1st down. That 40-yd pass interference led to New England's 28th scoring drive this season."

It is hard to not think the refs are favoring them.

I have a lot of respect for your game though posts Virgil but I am sorry I totally diaagree on the above today. He made mistakes that turned potential touchdown drives into FG drives, he made mistakes that got us behind the sticks constantly and whilst yea... he had a good drive before half when Clay and then the refs screwed him but other than that it was a really, really poor Quarterback display. He was absolutely a key reason we lost today. In both Pats games our D has kept us competitive while the offense was on the field and sustaining drives and keeping Brady on the sideline. In both games the offense has failed in that endevour after mid 3rd Qrtr and games have got ugly fast.

Today was one of Tyrod's worst games as a Bill. I don't give a damn what the stat line says. I suspect it will be even uglier on all 22 review.

I have never seen a QB absolutely refuse to show the ball away like Taylor. He is all too willing to take the sack resulting in long down and distance that kills dives. Taylor had his good moments today, but as soon as we are down 10 points, there is no hope of coming back. I'm sure the defense senses this also. He should be in the prime of his career. At this point, I am resigned to believe that he is what he is - not horrible, but not good enough.
