I would not expect an IOL with the first round pick, the value of the player could be there but the value of the position makes it tough.  Last year people mocked Torrence to the Bills in the first and they got him in the second.  I fully expect DE, DT or WR with the first pick.  If it were OL, I would think an OT that fell would be more likely than anything inside.

I wouldn't mind an OT at all. Put your best 5 out there, and if Dawkins moves to guard so be it. I would rather have Josh more comfortable in the pocket at this point in his career. I think that's our best bet to win the superbowl. We have enough guys that can catch the ball now. I could get behind IOL in the second too, let McBeane figure out what to do with the leftovers if things get complicated.

That is the weirdest QB room on the planet I have to give Mike Tomlin credit he literally has been picking up quarterbacks like he’s sniffing magic markers

I think Omar Kahn is spreading his wings. It's not like the 2023 room was uber talented.

This is definitely true with all the other cuts.   Morse is the only real surprise especially after trading Bates.  There were plenty of teams that would have killed for offensive line depth last year and putting someone in with very little experience at center is very risky.

I'm thinking they didn't promise Bates the starting center job, so he had enough of being a backup. Someone start looking for second round centers, stat!

It may be the prudent move to let Douglas walk considering his age.

I just don’t know what our CB room is going to be like without him?

Tre coming off 2 ACL injuries, Benford who is often injured, and Elam?

    Yikes.

So you're saying we could draft more corners than wr's?  😄

Same but I do think the chances are very high he's played his last game as a Chief because he's made it clear he wants to be the highest paid defensive player in NFL history and he's turning 30 in the offseason so this is his one and only big shot and grabbing the bag so to speak. And quite frankly he's not just another name, he has the resume and showed up big time this year and in the playoffs when it mattered most.

Chiefs would have to franchise him to stay which means Jones could just sit out and then do nothing when he finally is forced to play out the rest of the season so he can be an UFA again in 2025. I don't think he has any interest in making history with a 3peat and all that.

I think the Bears need someone to keep blockers off of Edmunds, and they have some space. Git 'er done Buddy!

There isn't a tackle in the league who can consistently stone Chris Jones without help.  And Dawkins, while good, is certainly not elite while Jones is first team all Pro.

Josh can't quarterback in fear. He has to trust his guys to do the blocking or he would never get through reads.

Jones wasn't the same at DE, tackles had arm length advantages over him, that's why he has mostly played at DT since the experiment KC tried last year.

No it wouldn't have.  He didn't have to wait until an all Pro pass rusher has pushed the LT into his lap to slide into the pocket.  It was poor pocket management.

Throwing it to Shakir was the correct play.  Throwing it to Diggs would have also been a perfectly reasonable decision.  Standing still while an elite pass rusher wrecks the play was the issue.

Disagree. I think as a qb that's tough to determine where the pass rush is while going through your reads. It didn't help that it was a bull rush so Josh didn't have the advantage of seeing the jersey color in his peripheral vision. By the time he felt the pressure it was time to throw the ball.

Dawkins has had problems anchoring on the past, just unfortunate he could not hold up for another 1/2 second.

This discussion completely misses the point.  The decision was 100% correct.  It was Josh's execution that was poor.  Had he simply slid into the massive pocket to his right, that's a TD.

As talented as he is, Josh still has room for improvement when it comes to the subtleties of QB play.  There's no way  Brady or Manning stands still and lets himself get bumped by his LT when there's a perfect pocket to be had.

Unfortunately that slide probably throws the timing off, so Shakir is not in the window at that time.

  9. I'd take a shot on DJ Chark and draft a wr fourth round and after. Do folks realize we've spent two 1st's on pass catchers already?

Now if they move on from Diggs it's a different story. But with Kincaid and Shakir emerging, someone like Chark who is just an outside guy is missing from the offense. I'd rather get an interior lineman with some versatility at 28 than a wr. It's probably going to be a dl though, maybe that safety from Iowa.

Maybe, it’s just a player who suddenly can’t catch the football when they did in college worries me. I’d have more faith if he were a great runner with bad hands in college. I’d give him the benefit that he could improve. I hope you’re right.

You also have the Josh factor, that ball is coming at you fast sometimes
