The Bills Have Hired a Director of AnalyticsDibs replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives Though I agree with the sentiment here, I think that you have generalized the point. If a study definitively shows that a preconceived aspect that the HC has is incorrect, I would hope that said HC would have the intelligence and wisdom to change their view on that particular aspect.

Belichick and Pats Wanted EJ ManuelDibs replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives I think this logic is sound. I guess we won't know until after Brady retires(to see if BB follows).

The Bills Have Hired a Director of AnalyticsDibs replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives Yep. Likely the only proof we will ever get is when there is a direct statement from the Coaches/HO pointing it out. I can see that happening though. Marrone said that he was going to be spending a lot of time this week on challenging plays(throwing the red flag). Though likely too early for the analytics guy to help, this is the perfect situation where they could be used. They spend the time, crunch the numbers, and come up with high-risk/low-risk categories......while Marrone can devote his time to coaching the players etc. I could easily see Marrone acknowledging the anaytics guys after a successful challenge. Most things though.....as you said....will likely go unnoticed.

The Bills Have Hired a Director of AnalyticsDibs replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives IMO using analytics to evaluate the ability of players is inherently illogical. An analytic study on the success/failure of your talent assessment guys is likely the better way to go.

The Bills Have Hired a Director of AnalyticsDibs replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives A computer can't tell you anything at all. It is the people using the computers who determine what the data means......the computer simply collates that data. Analytics is the science of logical analysis. Logical analysis can be, and should be applied to all facets of the organization. Hopefully Mike Lyons will have the wisdom to apply analytic studies to areas where it can help the team.

	I had a brain fart.

The Bills Have Hired a Director of AnalyticsDibs replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives From looking at Marrone's Monday interview I would guess that his first job will be to help with Marrone analyzing the challenge flag situation.

If he does, the Dolphins will be hit with a $32.8M dead money cap hit next year .

Can somebody please start a separate thread on the Hughes play? It seems to have hijacked this thread somewhat. To be honest, I am far more interested in hearing peoples thoughts on Gilmore and the associated stat than discussion about one individual play(call).

	Thanks BC......that's awesome.

Agreed.....but that's besides the point. The point being that the Bills are not in fact an inferior team(outside of QB) to most teams in the NFL. Like I said earlier, considering that a good QB on this team likely would have lead us to a 7-1(or better) record......to constantly complain about mistakes that occur(in all areas of the team) and assume that the Bills are sub-par across the board is unreasonable IMO.

I really like your dedication to this BC but I think you should bracket the runs into categories. "negative-3 yards" "4-7 yards" "8-12 yards" "13-19 yards" "20+ yards" (or something similar). That way one can get a quick and clear look at how the years are comparing. As an example, we see a big spike for 2013 on 2 yards.....but 1 yard and -1 yard are ahead for 2012. Grouping them together will show how the comparison is for "short yardage stops".

I think that there is little doubt that if we were playing with Brees as our QB & the Saints had Lewis as theirs......we would have won the game. Furthermore, I tend to think that we would be at least 7-1 on the season if we had Brees playing on the Bills each week. People knock the Offense, the Defense, the Coaches, the Players and Special Teams.......but put a star QB on this team and we are a legitimate contender in today's NFL.

Bit of a Chiefs fan are we?

We will loose to the saints by how many points???Dibs replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives The point that Hopeful was making was that you could have done a "Predict this weeks score" thread. Is it really that difficult for you to understand why so many posters are annoyed that you set up a prediction thread that presumes that we lose.

What would it take for people to take the Bills seriously?Dibs replied to KikO M G's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives I would say that all opposition teams already take the Bills seriously(as they do every team).......but that's not your point. The media will start paying more attention to the Bills when there is something more exciting to talk about for them. As I see it, the media focuses on 5 main factors.... Market size, QB, Super Bowl chance, other exciting play-makers & controversy. At this point we don't tick the market size, QB, SB chance or controversy boxes......our exciting play-maker(Spiller) is not producing.....and we have two players starting to draw attention(Mario & Kiko). That means for the national public we have two small talking points at this stage. The media is simply doing there job. That job being to entertain their audience. Unfortunately for us, our interest in the Bills is not reflected by the national majority.

Fantastic insight article about our culture of losingDibs replied to GaryPinC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives The 4 seasons prior to Marrone were, 1-10, 4-8, 2-10, 3-9. He improved the team across the board which culminated in a divisional 1st placing......and earning to 2 Pinstripe Bowl victories in his 4 years there.

Is it too early to give Buddy credit for last draft class?Dibs replied to tedstrong's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives I think you might be remembering that incorrectly. I don't recall anything of that sort......and you can be fairly certain that there would have been quite a hot thread here at TBD if he had made that statement.

Can somebody explain to me the relevance of the question. I'm guessing that there was some sort of law change in 1989 or something?
