  1. Thanks - it did sound like I was making it up - eh? Yeah, I wasn't...
  2. Then why do NFL teams like Atlanta spend millions of dollars and fail to see that the guy they are spending the #9 overall pick is LATE OFF THE SNAP and hence is now sackless in 18 starts as an NFL DE? Heck, some DEs get garbage sacks, coverage sacks, sacks where the QB scrambles right into him. Anderson has ZERO. Truly mindboggling. Then again, doing it in REAL TIME is different from PARROTING GURUS, ANNOUNCERS, COACHES, and WRITERS and then being "shocked" when they are TOTALLY WRONG and some guy with some VCR tape and a website got it right... Where is the Reggie Bush hype now???
  3. Amazingly enough, the site failed. I had by far the most accurate Draft assessments each year 04-06 and "fans" just hated hearing how their FO FUed each year. The hate I got for panning Gallery the night he was Drafted was worthy of a Smithsonian booth on the intelligence of football fans. My actual Raiders grade that year included a big swipe for Jake Grove being a dirty player and Stu Schwiegert being a drunk. Them Raider fans love TFG... And yes, I did make a few errors too - recommended a few injury and head cases, panned Lofa Tatupu, Trent Cole, Robert Geathers - those were the three biggest errors. On the big issues, I got those right every year, and "fans" who didn't want to hear that Youboty wasn't very good or trading up for McCargo in a deep Draft was a mistake, well... they hated me and never came back. You can search for "TFG's NFL Draft" and find some evidence it existed, but your best evidence is all the nonsense about King and Justin that appears each time I show up here with a point for Bills fans. For the record, two other second day "Recs" in 05 besides Justin and King were Darren Sproles and Tyjuan Hagler.
  4. How much of Henne did you watch at Michigan? Carson Palmer did take four years to be a good QB at USC. Henne took four years and was still not a good QB. Sometimes they "develop" and sometimes they don't. In a weak year for QBs, he went behind Ryan and a McCown like prospect from Delaware.
  5. Edwards has demonstrated the ability to zip a medium ball and throw an accurate deep ball. With Evans, that forces the D to defend the deep ball, which opens up the shorter routes.
  6. "He couldn't beat out Daunte Culpepper" - false - he beat out Pepp, started the first game, threw for 300 yards and had the Raiders ahead, and then broke his finger on his throwing hand. Being a Raiders QB since Gallery was picked has meant certain failure. "Drew Stanton" - LOL! - dude, he was never on the same team with Stanton. He lost to Jon Kitna that year, and Kitna wasn't the Lions problem. "Kurt Warner" - again, inaccurate - McCown did beat out Warner with no experience from SAM HOUSTON STATE and an MVP performance in the Senior Bowl. McCown may be a 5 year NFL vet, but he is still green. Anyone who watched him overcome 8 sacks and beat the Vikings understands what he went through so far in the NFL as a green QB with ABSOLUTELY NO PROTECTION at all. If Kurt Warner was supposed to be the "answer," why did the Cards brilliantly select Matt L over Cutler??? "Chad Pennington" - laughable - Penny was handed the job and McCown was not given a snap with the first team after Penny arrived, but McCown was reportedly ahead of Henne and Beck - not exactly a HOF resume point but heck... "Matt Moore" - false and pathetic. Moore is hurt. Carolina traded for McCown because Moore is hurt and they needed a backup. Josh McCown is still a green NFL QB prospect with amazing tools who has yet to play a snap in the NFL with anything resembling a decent OL or supporting cast. The Fins royally FUed by dishing him and latching on to Penny, especially with Ted Ginn as the "1" WR...
  7. Truth be told, suggesting King and Justin were two excellent values in Rounds 5 and 6 was supposed to be the "evidence" that I am not "good" at assessing talent. Things like 1. being the only Draft site to pan Robert Gallery as an OLT 2. having Mario Williams and Jay Cutler as the two top prospects in 06 while calling Reggie Bush a "mid to late First rounder" 3. claiming Jamal Anderson was late off the snap and hence would not be a good NFL edge rusher 4. praising Kyle Williams and Ko as the best values of the Bills 06 class Yeah, those are the things they don't bring up here... Sorry for being right all the time...
  8. I'm with you. I hate starting rookie QBs. O'Connell is different from NOD and is not related. However, as a rook from SD State, he probably isn't that bright. He did lead some drives late in preseason and became a fan favorite. The kid just has unreal tools - arm strength, wheels, size, power, and finds ways to win. He also seems very poised, relaxed, and is well liked by teammates - strong leadership qualities. Cassel certainly has the offense down and is the better option now. If and when O'Connell gets a similar understanding, he has the upside you look for to be special, and was a decent value late in Round 3 even if some dummy publications questioned taking him over Andre Woodson. Notice too that Cassel really didn't ever go deep to Moss. If the NFL ends up believing he can't... But, yeah, if he isn't ready, don't play him. Tossing rookie QBs in who aren't ready is not a good idea. Still, I mean, comparing O'Connell as a prospect to the likes of high Second Rounder Beck, who just doesn't have tools at all...
  9. King is better than either Youboty or Greer. However, it takes some ability to assess talent to figure that out, and you have none, just the ability to parrot announcers, stats and gurus while totally misunderstanding that which you watch every Sunday. Geisinger was a late round position switch prospect and has taken three years to get it down, but the Skins love him, and his smarts help at C too. Plenty of teams wuold kill for Justin right now, including the team the Bills just beat. The Jags have precisely nobody better than Justin inside right now. Is anyone here surprised that a topic about Parcells being dumb about Penny and Ginn turns into another debate about cutting King and Justin???
  10. They never had the chance to sign King. He was claimed by TN. Only Houston and NO passed on King, who is still starting at nickel for the Titans three years later. They could use Justin right now, but Justin definitely took longer than expected to get the interior stuff down. He looked great all preseason and has been active with King every game - not too shabby for a FIFTH and a SIXTH... which just reminds everyone how dumb the Bills were letting both go...
  11. Trying watching them and just them. Clady is an incredible athlete from Boise State. Long is a polished guy from Mich. One has upside from here, the other doesn't. It isn't close. Clady is shutting down pass rushers without any help or problem. Long had problems with Gholston and Harvey last year, and neither one of them can crack a starting spot so far... Clady will just put more distance between him and Jake as time goes forward assuming no injuries or stupid stuff that keeps PFT around..
  12. Ainge, Clemons, Henne... don't inspire me. If the Jest had really thought Clemons was the answer... Ainge - come on... did you ever watch UT the past few years? Henne - see above. Has all the tools but just doesn't think quickly and makes poor decisions, even with 4 years as a starter at Mich. Don't know anything about Ratliff...
  13. It is also perfectly clear that Ryan Clady is a vastly better OLT than Jake Long. Clady is dumb and had some "work ethic" charges against him, but he is just keeping Jay Cutler's blindside locked down cold. Long is nowhere near the athlete Clady is. While Chad clearly isn't the long term QB, McCown at least had a chance to be, had he developed. With Pennington, even the run game doesn't work because the D has no fear of the deep ball.
  14. McCown is green, not dumb. Did quite well on the Wonderlic. Has a lot of potential and has only played for horrible teams so far. Did some impressive things with poor supporting casts, like taking 8 sacks against Minn and standing tough to throw the winning TD pass on the final play. McCown has great tools. You can be the smartest QB to ever play, but if you cannot throw a deep pass, you surrender part of your offense and allow the defense to stack. I totally disagree that Pennington "gives them a better chance to win." He gives them nothing but a surrender offense that has been totally unable to exploit two marginal defenses. Whether Ginn is a BP pick or not doesn't change the fact that he is on the Fins roster, a roster devoid of WR talent except Ginn deep. Take away that and the whole thing implodes. Hagan and Wilford have the worst set of hands in the NFL. To "develop," a young QB should play. Henne is a rookie so he is learning the playbook etc. Clemons will get a chance if the Jest get eliminated early. Having seen both in college, I really don't think either will make it as an NFL starter. Henne just doesn't think fast enough on the field. He has all the tools, yet he clearly never put it altogether, and that is the difference between "prospect" and "great QB." Clemons doesn't have a gun like Henne, and has already had a host of injuries. I thought he was more of a 5th Rounder than a 2nd. The "developing" backup QB in the NFC East with the most potential is Kevin O'Connell of the Pats. Don't cheer too hard for Cassel to get hurt...
  15. The mess in Miami has now come full circle. Tedd Ginn really isn't anything more than a deep threat as a WR. Ohio State never had him run short routes unless he had a huge cushion. As a short range "possession" receiver, Ginn sukks - doesn't fight for balls. Now, given that about Ginn, the decision to go with Pennington has essentially reduced Ginn's value to the Fins to zero, because Pennington just cannot throw a deep ball after his shoulder surgery. Granted, Josh McCown is unproven and clearly not a "savior" as Favre is supposed to be to the Jest. However, McCown is both mobile and strong armed, and having him in there would keep the deep pass to Ginn alive and force opposing safeties to play back, off the LOS, helping to open up the running game. Indeed, if you haven't noticed, the Fins OL is geared towards run blocking as opposed to pass blocking. Grabbing Pennington and dumping McCown before McCown even had a chance to play has reduced the Fins O to short passes to a really lousy set of "possession" receivers and stacked the box run defense. Parcells, who drafted Pennington in Round 1 from Marshall, clearly did not think this situation through. Pennington cannot throw a deep ball and that is why the JEST parted with him. Everyone who plays the Fins just has to "cover" the likes of Wilford and Hagan in man and dump everyone else in the box hunting Ricky and Ronnie. It ain't working, even against inferior defenses. To those of you who thought the Favre deal strengthened two divisional rivals, think again. Favre didn't exactly light up the Pats, and Pennington is a serious liability to the Fins. Neither franchise is developing anyone young either... Hate to say it, but the best QB in the division right now is... some injury case Third Rounder from Stanford.
  16. Everyone who responded with hate in this topic did.
  17. Another hate filled tirade from the central PARROT arguing Jared Allen was worth twice as much money plus a First and a Third than Justin Smith. The one King tackle was cited because it negates the central theme of your Allen argument - stats. Put Jared Allen up against a GOOD NFL OLT and he doesn't do jack.
  18. Zolman wasn't a bad developmental prospect, but was never going to be an NFL elite starter like Jay. Spending a lot of late Round Draft picks is inexpensive. Getting the Greers and George Wilsons of the football world help. Getting Jason Peters - yeah. But you have to be patient... unlike the Bills with Justin.
  19. "And your point is what? That a 5th round value, Hall of Fame bound Eric King couldn't beat out a street free agent scrub Jabari Greer?" LOL!! He did his rookie year, played every game at nickel, and played extremely well. A new coach clearly "knew best" canning King and taking Youboty in Round 3. King was an excellent value in Round 5, and you are way too much of a CREAMED WHINY LOSER LIAR MORON to admit it. Truth be told, the #1 corner from this year's Draft was Tracy Porter, now with NO. You got the second best one... a round higher than the best one.
  20. The Jags wish they did pick up Justin. OL depth sometimes matters. Indeed, with Meester out, the Jags would upgrade their center position with Justin. Watch closely the CB Drayton Florence. He is a marginal player at best - another top dollar FA from a team which Drafted him, replaced him and let him walk... Truth be told, the problem with the Jags is James Harris, who has an abysmal record as GM/DPP which began by taking Byron Leftwich over Kevin Williams while Brunell and Garrard were already on the roster. You would have to be colorblind not to notice what Harris has done with the Jag QB position, not just with Leftwich, but with Quinn Gray and now $3 mil per for Cleo Lemon...
  21. I was quite clear in 2006 that the best QB was Jay Cutler and the best player was Mario Williams. I was the only site to pan the NO selection of Bush. Then again, none of those fell to Round 5... The first sentence of my analysis of the VY pick by TN: "This is a terrible mistake" Gosh it sukks being right all the time...
  22. Complete bull on the injury. Young hurt his knee badly. The left knee buckled like it should not. He may join Brady on IR. Fisher yells at players who screw up. Wow... imagine that.
  23. "Yes, because one tackle as a nickel back makes you that much more valuable than an every down DE who needs to be double teamed?" Allen was NOT double teamed. Allen was scored for a mid First and a Third, as well as a fortune. Eric King was a FIFTH. Check the signing bonuses to get a clue what you are trying to "compare" here. The comp here was Allen vs. Smith plus First and Third. That comp is outed immediately. Indeed, as a STAT PARROTING MORON yourself, you were arguing for Allen, because STAT PARROTING and ANNOUNCER PARROTING are all your BIRDBRAIN "understands" about football. As for Eric King, he was a heck of a good value in Round5, as Justin was in Round 6. Just that First Rounder traded for Allen, that pick, got a signing bonus of 50 times what King and Justin got combined. Spending an early First Rounder to replace King wasn't exactly a bargain, not including the wasted Third on Youboty... A fifth plus a sixth doesn't even get you a Third - check the DRAFT VALUE CHART... Value in the late rounds - correct calls about the major Draft and FA issues - man it sukks being always right...
  24. When reality clobbers PARROTS who PARROTED and watched the reality that Chad Clifton single handedly prevented Allen from doing anything all game... you get this type of hysteria. For those of you without a clue, we had this debate when the Vikes traded for Allen. Allen for a First, a Third and a FORTUNE vs. Justin Smith for half the cost while keeping the First and a Third Trade HIGH DRAFT PICKS for the right to OVERPAY that which another team doesn't want produces... well, ask Danny Snyder...
  25. Some people learn and some do not. Instead of parting with a First and a Third and a zillion dollars for Allen, they could have parted with half the cash and kept the picks with Justin Smith, and gotten a lot better player against the run... not to mention much less "character risk." Good to see Geisinger and King active Sunday. King was actually more productive statistically than Allen... LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
