LOL….. I love Shakir, but come on. When Shakir has 9 for 115 in the Championship game and looks like the SB MVP then we can talk

we get OBJ and our base formation should be 3WR, 1 TE,  1 RB

NO ONE has the personnel to deal with Diggs Davis and OBJ

To be fair to Shakir, the Bills actually have to be in a Championship game before you can make that comparison.

Thanks for the additional leagues.  Typically by week 5, 20 or 30 people have stopped playing.  I guess as soon as they lose in survivor, they quit on Pickem.

  3.    I am really going to miss this show.  A fitting ending as Jimmy redeems himself.

You have to give the writers and the actors a huge amount of credit.   Every character in this was engaging.

Throughout this last season, I have gotten lost a couple of times.  There were scenes I didn't understand and conversations on this board I understood even less.  The reason for this is, I have yet to see a single episode of Breaking Bad.  I find it hard to believe it could be better than Saul.

As far as I can see, not knowing the Breaking Bad story/characters didn't detract from Saul.  Maybe you don't miss, what you don't know.

I'm still stuck on Aunt Suzie's birthday gift. Even though it isn't exactly related to Ticketmaster, it still falls under the same new laws. So Aunt Suzie gives you $1,000 for your birthday. The law says this isn't taxable because the amount is under the taxable threshold for birthday presents from Aunt Suzie. But Aunt Suzie is hip. She's not like grandma. Aunt Suzie is with the times and she uses venmo to send you the same $1,000 gift she's sent you for the last 15 years.

Enter the IRS. Now that Aunt Suzie used venmo, there will be a 1099 form generated. You may get this form and throw it out since you know it's not really taxable. Yet when your taxes are filed, the IRS will know you omitted this 1099 form in the amount of $1,000 from your reported income. They won't know it's not taxable, and they won't really care. They will just know that your income listed on your tax form doesn't match theirs.

Now in typical IRS fashion, they will presume you guilty of tax evasion. They will send you a bill for the $70 or whatever your tax on $1,000 comes to, plus a generous penalty and late fee, etc. You will now have been judged by an agency of the federal government and found guilty.

Fortunately, this is America, and you will be given the opportunity to prove your innocence. This will take a bit of your time and maybe cost you some money, but hey, it's a small price to pay for freedom. Eventually you may prove your innocence and can then claim a small victory against the IRS and their strong arm. Yay.

Of course you can avoid all this trouble by listing the $1,000 on your tax return, and going through the trouble of proving it was just a birthday gift from Aunt Suzie ahead of time. Or you can persuade Aunt Suzie to mail you a check like she did for so many years. Although the IRS has already tried, and will most likely eventually succeed in treating that $1,000 bank deposit in the same manner.

We didn't really think the IRS was increasing its workforce by 15% to go after GM and Haliburton did we? And none of the above used to happen unless Aunt Suzie's and your other venmo transactions totaled over $20,000, or more than 200 transactions. But starting in 2022 that threshold drops to $600 and a single transaction. Yet somehow there are people who think this is all a good thing because, hey, we need roads to drive and new STADIA (Bills related!), and have to pay our share.

Remember when Carmela Soprano goes to the bank and deposits $9900.  When the bank exec says, if it was $10000 the bank would have to inform the govenment.  She smiles and says "Oh really,"

I believe the threshold is now $600 and it is not per transaction, it is for the entire year.

Marlin "the magician" Briscoe RIP.  In 1970, with a rookie QB (Dennis Shaw) Marlin had 57 catches for over 1000 yards and 8 TDs. Marlin made his only Pro Bowl that year. Bills went 3-10-1 that year under John Rauch.

The first person that came to mind when I read the title was Dennis Shaw.   Not that he was so wonderful but IMO Briscoe made him the Rookie of the Year.  I swear half his passes were jump balls.

  6. One of my favorite Scully calls, although I may not get it in the correct order, despite the fact that I have heard it more than once.

" the dueces are wild.  There are two men on base, and the count is two balls, two strikes and there are two outs."

Did you hear about the guy in NC who won the lottery…..twice?   :)

I had a tennis buddy in Florida who would walk of the court immediately as the lightning alarm went off, meaning strikes within 5 miles. He wasn’t messing around, he’s been hit before…….twice.

When we lived in Hilton Head, SC we invited the wife’s cousin to come watch the PGA tournament outside our back door. Good old Tommy went out to watch and got hit by a golf ball…….twice! (Albeit one was a short hop of the cart path,  the other a drive.)

I could go on and on (some of it improper for this family site, but that one night at the bar made a legend of my buddy Dave), but unlikely things happen all the time! Multiply that by nearly Infiniti……

    I don’t know what IS, and I can’t say what ISN’T.

I did all that without any math.

Your first rarity has happened at least twice.

Evelyn Marie Adams is an American lottery winner. She won the New Jersey Lottery twice, in 1985 and 1986, for over $5.4 million combined (both prizes were paid in the form of mandatory annuities).

Odds were 1 in 17 trillion, or so says a different article,

No propulsion, his control was limited to going up or down and spinning the balloon. At one point he dropped down to the river and the balloon started going backwards. What was cool was that he has multiple launch sites and he picks the site based on the prevailing winds to try to maximize time over the gorge.

I can't believe everyone gets a journey as grand as yours.  As a friend in college used to say, "I am farking impressed".

Apologies in advance that this is long-winded - cliff's notes version is it turned out great and adventure is somewhat apropo.

First day of vacay we're settling in to our airbnb (i.e. - cocktails) and my boys spot balloons. We are pumped!  We had made a reservation for a few days later but weather for that day looked sketchy so fingers were crossed. We see balloons every night, but forecast doesn't improve for launch day so anxiety rises. At some point we realize there is more than one balloon company and maybe the other one is better than the one we reserved. Weather doesn't improve, our ride is cancelled and by a stroke of luck we are able to reserve for the next day with the other company.

Launch: The weather is better but windy enough that it might get cancelled as we are preparing to launch. At the launch site (basically someone's backyard that the pilot knows) it's still a game time decision - but we get the thumbs up. In retrospect, the pilot called the launch 'sporty'. Ahead of the launch I was concerned about clearing the tree line. During the launch I was convinced we were dumping into the pond next to the launch but we got off the ground and cleared the trees.

Ride: More amazing than I imagined. Reached an altitude of 4000 feet. He would have gone higher but wifey balked (which I was fine with). The crazier part was dropping down low. He skimmed trees so we could (and did) grab leaves off the top of trees in Letchworth and then to my amazement dropped down into the gorge to the point that the bottom of the basket was probably inches from the water (a bit downstream from the lower falls). At one point he asked some Letchworth hikers to post pictures of us to his Facebook page. Saw an amazing sunset - before the trip he told me that on the sunrise trips he rises and lowers so they can see multiple sunrises.

Landing: a bit sketchy. He had to find an open field and spoke to a few people on terra firma  requesting permission to land - not everyone is amenable to having a balloon land on their crops. Landing was a bit rough - we were running out of daylight and the wind was kicking up and it was a bouncy landing that ended up just shy of a tree line.

I could go into a lot more detail about how awesome it and the operator was and why if anyone wanted to do this they would want to use https://balloonletchworth.com/ and not the company sanctioned by the state park.

Is there any propulsion device on the balloon besides the hot air, or did he make that entire journey just playing the air currents?

Afaik XRP is not backed by gold. There are some coins that are, but XRP isn’t one of them. In fact, I believe Ripple’s (the company that made XRP) CTO David Schwartz even said if XRP was backed by gold it would limit its capabilities.

Here’s a list of all the current gold backed crypto:

    https://www.goldscape.net/gold-blog/gold-backed-cryptocurrency/

XRP not an asset backed cryptocurrency at all. It’s not really backed by anything but the company that made XRP (ripple), who’s currently facing an SEC lawsuit over what XRP actually is. The SEC is alleging that XRP is a security (not a commodity) so it should be regulated like a security, and that all XRP is currently considered unregistered securities so ripple’s owners sold it illegally.

ripple says XRP is a utility coin.

XRP is backed by gold. XLM is backed by silver.

Gold and silver are the assets.

Most people are not accustomed to crypto being backed by anything but hope.

What does backed by gold mean?  Does it mean for every dollar of XRP there is a a dollar of gold backing it?  And if so where is the gold held?

I ask this in part because I was a player in SLV two years ago.  They say that is backed by silver,  The issue is it is not 1 to 1.   It could be $1 in SLV is backed by $0.1 of real silver.

You could feel something was very wrong.  Like your heart was beating like a hummingbird wings.  Very obvious.  I went in to one Urgent Care.  They turned me away because they were overwhelmed by COVID.  Didn't even ask me what my problem was.  Went to another one.  They said one hour wait.  They asked me what my symptoms were and I told them.  Two minutes later I was getting an EKG and sent to the Emergency Room next door.  Doctor looked like he was going to faint.  Admitted immediately.  I ended up getting a cardioversion which is an electric shock to correct your heartbeat.  (Like you see on TV) Went home next day.  If you feel anything like that  - go to the hospital.  You can get a stroke.

Thanks for the reply.  I asked because I was wondering if you had a device that would catch that.  I have a Kardia EKG monitor which I check once in a while and they say that will catch afib.  I know there are also apple watches which will catch it.  I am assuming they will catch events much milder than yours.

Your description of an actual event is much appreciated.
