If anyone listened to Beane's presser last night, I would say that they still have Dawkins penciled in as the starter at LT. Which agree with. I assume that they were unhappy with his play at the end of the season and after Bobby Johnson watched film, Johnson must feel he can help Dion. Dawkins is very naturally gifted with long arms and good agility. He's a left tackle until he proves he can't do it.

He essentially said this in his interview with Simon on GR this morning.  Howard asked him specifically if Dawkins might be considered as a guard.  Beane said that he would start at left tackle, but certainly made it clear that there will be a competition and that he could be moved inside if that is how it plays out.  So it's his job to keep as the incumbent, but no guarantees.

He also did say Ford would start out at right tackle, but he could play guard as well.  Except for center, the competition for the other four spots should be very strong.

On the occasions he isn't dropping the ball, mishandling snaps on FGs or line driving 60 yard punts so the returner goes  20 yards before he is even touched, yes.

Give the kid a break.  Belichik gave him no snaps the whole preseason because he was hiding him, and he was literally signed and put right into his first NFL regular season games, completely unfamiliar with our team.  I'd like to see him have a full training camp and preseason before I ream him for the mistakes he made before the injury.

..wonder if we can register some illegals??........

Maybe we can just pay a guy to send out people to collect other people's votes BEFORE they vote and then he can vote them all for Josh, and any votes already for Mahomes can be disappeared? ?

I've seen this exact argument a 100 times here.  I can't put it any better than having you look at Alex Smiths 2017 season. (wich was good) ....With Hill, Kelce and an NFL leading rusher in Kareem Hunt, Smith threw for a career high 26 TD, had a 67 PCT comp % and threw for over 4000 yards.

With the SAME supporting cast.  Pat Mahomes put up 50 TD, 63 pct Comp % and threw for over 5000 yards.  The Chiefs ran exactly NINE more total plays in 2018 than they did in 2017.  The offense was the same.  The coach was the same....Mahomes executed the whole thing THAT MUCH BETTER.

I can get you some GLARING 3rd down conversion stats and some GLARING red zone stats that were also WAY WAY better with Mahomes.

And to top it off....if you take Kelces stats away.  OR Hills....Mahomes STILL would have led the NFL in TD passes by 5 and still been in the top 10 in yardage.  Keep in mind they cut Hunt mid year...

He threw at least 1 TD to 12 different targets in 2018.

Sure Mahomes has a very good supporting cast.....but I would contend that he elevates WHOEVER he's with out there.

Yes, and I'm sure there were no other variables involved at all, and I'm even more sure you are capable of knowing that.  Everything was exactly the same except for the QBs throwing the ball.

As @Cripple Creek is fond of saying, I never miss an opportunity to show my age as it relates to the Bills.

I’m So Old; my 1st 7 games attended, EVERY man wore a white shirt, suit coat, tie & full brimmed hat. Only.

I’m So Old; nobody had a Bills jersey -except Me! My Grandmother sewed #15 on a dark blue sweatshirt and added decorative white & red tape to make a Kemp jersey for me. I was the envy of the neighborhood.

I’m So Old; I was in my seat for the kickoff vs Washington in brand spankin’ new Rich Stadium (‘Skins returned for a TD..) Only a couple jerseys were seen in the crowd -probably prizes.

Since those daze of yore, I’ve had far too many to count Bills gear. Today, the family & I wear our jerseys on Game Day -a plethora of HOFers & Chandler#81, but rarely -if ever- in public other than Game day. Loses the impact seeing them on white haired guys and restaurants won’t offer me the Senior Citizens discount..

    I'm so old I saw Ed Rutkoswki and Marlin Briscoe play QB at the Rockpile;

I'm so old, I remember the live dance band they had in the dug out at the Rockpile.

I'm so old I saw OJ's first game as a rookie.

And I am never embarassed to where Bills gear, but it may just be I'm so old my brain doesn't know any better any more. ?

Statistically he was the 32nd best punter in the league. In a league of 32 teams, that ain't great.

Ummm, how do you arrive at that conclusion?  He was 18th in gross average, 19th inside the 20, and 21st in net average.  And as mentioned above, he kicked in his last 3.5 games in pain severe enough to IR him.  Even if you went with gross yardage he was still 28th even though he missed half the season.  Was he 32nd in locker room popularity?

Oh, and he was 10th in return ydg against.

no we have 2 young ones who have good hang time and long legs under contract coming off IR

I agree.  Bojorquez was pretty good even though he was a rookie with virtually no playing time at all even in preseason because Belichick was trying to hide him.  He averaged 45.1 yards even though he was in a lot of pain for the last three and half games he played before they IR'd him.  The pass attempt came on the botched field goal and so did the injury.  With some actual preparation and experience in handling those kinds of contingencies, he should be fine.

Very accurate assessment. We have a QB that can run, but can't hit the side of a barn with his throws. Mayfield was the best in this class and it's not even close. Allen only hit over 50% of his passes in 2 games this season! I know people will flame me because they refuse to see it, but they'll get it sooner or later. Meanwhile, I'd take any of the other QB's that were drafted in round 1 over Allen.

I'm going to flame you because you are either unable to read stats or youo are exaggerating to support your narrative.

    Chargers  - 54.5%

    Vikings - 68.2%

    Tennessee - 52.6%

    Houston - 58.8%

    Miami (1st) - 54.5%

    Miami (2nd) - 65.4%

Now, I'm not a genius or anything, but that sure likes he exceeded 50% not 2 times, but 6 times.  Now I'm sure you will find some other way to support your narrative, but how about accurately quoting stats when you do it. It at least gives you a shot at some credibility.

You don't need a Brady to win but you do need a QB that can react and think quickly. It might also help if Allen was accurate more consistently.

I thought and still think that Mayfield will be good enough to win a Super Bowl. He was the best in college, and while it's still very early, he's the best of the crop, now.

You think it's a coincidence that the best QBs get rid of the ball fast?

What I find not a coincidence is virtually all of the great QBs of today were not getting rid of the ball all that fast when they were rookies, if they even played as rookies.

Didn't you know?  Nothing is ever Allen's fault.  He's perfect just the way he is.

What you don’t seem to appreciate is that he is a rookie, and is going to make mistakes.  He absolutely tried to make plays on those interceptions that were not there. He’ll learn. Funny, but I don’t recall Peyton Manning being even remotely mistake free as a rookie. Brett Favre was traded away after his rookie year, and his mistakes he made early in his career were well chronicled. Who knows that Brady and Rogers would have looked like as rookies, because they didn’t play early on.

No no one here thinks Josh is perfect. NO ONE. Some of us just prefer to enjoy the good with the bad as he grows into the position. You know, because some of us are not deeply invested in proving ourselves right that he has problems and is going to be a bust.

I agree---mesing with punters all yr----bit him in the arse

I don’t get this one. Schmidt has been prone to shank kicks at the worst time. The lefty they signed from New England off of waivers was very good, but was roughed (no call) and hurt his shoulder in the New England game. He was in a lot of pain and it was affecting his kicking. That’s why he was placed on IR.  They resigned Schmidt in a pinch and while he had some good kicks, he shanked a couple just like he has all along.

Finally, do we know for certain this new kicker messed up the hold on the FG or extra point??  We negated the missed PAT anyway. So please explain to me why this is a point of contention here?

  11. One of the seemingly off target passes to Thompson over the middle was a failure on Deonte’s part to adjust his route back to the outside as Josh was expecting him to do. It was a third down pass early in the second half. Josh ran up to him and you could see he was explaining to Thompson how he should have adjusted the route and they continued the discussion on the sidelines for a bit after coming off the field. I liked the way the kid handled it. He was teaching and helping a new teammate.
