1. I'm going with Losman.  Yea yea, holcomb is efficient, and can "manage" an offense, but he's still good for some bonehead plays, and we need more of a risk taker under center.  He's not the guy I want running my 2 minute offense in the 4th quarter down by 6 pts.

    491991

You're assuming we'd be w/in 6 in the 4th quarter with Lossssman playing?

  2. People keep forgetting about the following:

    1. The game that JP managed against Houston....The Jets and Miami teams

that we played are pretty comparable to Houston in the mediocrity dept.

    2. JP gets to play roads games against Tampa Bay and in a noisy dome at

San Antonio.......Tampa Bay probably is leading in all defensive categories

in the NFL now.  They have manhandled pretty much every one in the

        AFC East..

    3. JP gets to play a tough game against Atlanta at home, where the defense

could never get off the field on 3rd and longs.....They let Vick, Dunn and

Duckett run for 240 yards...and control the clock....

    4. KH is yet to see any of the above.....If KH managed the games at home

very well, then how JP managed the Houston game should not be

        conviniently forgotten....

I want the bills to win, so I don't care how we win...but please don't make

    KH look like a god...

    479089

Please read "not the future, good short term fix"

Maybe for a Losman supporter that is godlike, but for the rest of us, hes a way to get some points on the board and some support from the other players

  3. They dumbed down the offense for JP, and the coaches thought it applied to them as well. Stuupid! Stuupid! Stuupid!

    479036

    [/quot

JP is and was real bad. i hope he's not our future cause if he is, its pretty bleak.

Clearly he could not manage whatever offense he was given and our many 3 and out drives prove it.

Not to say KH is the futute, but hes a good short term fix

  4. Brady-Patten-Givens reminds me a bit of Marino-Clayton-Duper. Not making a direct comparison, mind, but if NE's trio can stay together as long as MIA's did, they will remain competitive.

    IMO.

    479054

    [/quote

guess they won't remain competitive cause Patten plays for the skins]

  5. WTF...Did you expect Losman to be an All-Pro right out of the gate.  Go back and take a look at Eli Manning when he came in for Warner last year.  3 games and you are ready to write off his career.  Did I expect that Losman through 3 games would show more signs than he has?  Sure I did, but I'm not ready to write him off, because he hasn't.

    455394

Eli Manning (and i'm not a fan) was a true rookie last year. JPL saw time in the preseason last year / a few games last year / the entire offseason to study the playbook / preseason this year.

Its not even close to compare a 1st season rookie w/ ultra high expectations to a second year qb w/ no experience. They're from different worlds and clearly moving in different directions.

  6. We ordered Cubs tix for the weekend series vs the D-Backs....any suggestions on restaurants (steak or seafood pref.) Is it worth going up in the Sears Tower? Any gin mills in town that would suit a Buffalonian (massive draft beers for less than 10 bucks)  <_< Any other suggestions or must sees?

    a couple thoughts...

(i lived in Chicago for 3 years. just moved to the bay area in May)

one guy mentioned the neighborhood festival near wrigley. There are all kinds of festivals in the neighborhoods during the summer months. Most involve drinking. some have live music and drinkiing. keep that in mind (depending on what your wife likes to do)

if i were going to the game i would

    1. arrive in wrigleyville early. there is a great place called Cullens on Southport for a late breakfast / bloody.

    2. check out cubby bear b4 the game. there is anohter bar called sluggers that has batting cages upstairs if you're interested.

    3. Go to Murphys AFTER the game. its located behind RCF

The sears tower is a scam. its 20 bucks for the two of you. The hancock building has an observation deck / bar on the 96th floor. The view from the ladies room is the best in the house. your wife can verify, and then let you in when the bathroom clears. if you want tourist stuff try doing it early in the day or better yet, on a weekday.

where are you staying and what type and price cuisine are you looking for?

  7. I know I am about to be flamed for this post but here goes anyways.

How does the collective wisdom on this site feel about the following trade:

Eric Moulds & Travis Henry along with the Bills 2nd round pick in 2006 for Terrell Owens and Cory Simon.

Before you all lose it and tell me what a cancer TO is and how Moulds restructured his contract to help out on the salary cap please consider these facts.  Moulds has a huge 2006 cap number , will be 32 in July and has been injured a bit in the past few years.

Owens is going to be 32 in December and has an active 6 year contract at a manageable number, now he will need a new signing bonus which could be prorated to support the teams needs.

Henry for Simon works for both teams, it moves players that are FA's after the year and provides player talent at need positions for both.  TH would be an excellent between the tackle runner for the Eagles allowing them to split out Westbrook a bit and use him more for 3rd down situations.  Simon would be a perfect compliment to Adams in the run defense as he is a shoot the gap type of lineman which Adams is a two gap run stuffer.

The draft pick balances the equity of the trade.

Fire away folks, I'm ready to respond.

    336019

its another typical tbd trade post. it has no chance of actually happening. the eagles would have to be smoking crack to even think about it.

i still don't see how th is an excellent runner in any position. he wasn't good enough to start for us.... a non playoff team. how could he be good enough to start for the sb runner up? and please odn't respond with "they don't have a quality back" cause its just not true.

  8. Please explain to me what Kyles character flaws are?  Mike Martz does not get along with him and you are taking Mike Martz side?  Kyle is intense.  That is a character strength- not flaw!

    321842

dudes back is so bad, he can't get into positon to block on the o line. he wants to switch to DT or DE.

  9. The NFL is a business in todays day and age. Like it or not. Travis henry wasn't trade because of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

    317696

i'm in the minority here, but i think th wasn't traded because he's not that good.

he wasn't good enough to keep his starting job here. why would another team want him as their starter, when you could pick up a back w / a lot more potential?

    ex. JJ Arrrington

on top of that travis is a fumbler, and has injury problems. he's in the last year of a contract. if you let it play out, he may want more $$$ next year than a team is willing to pay. Why give up a 3rd round pick for nothing?

  10. Nonsense? You are starting to be borderline boorish. Are you a new Bills fan? If not, then you realize that Mularkey likes to be innovative. Is it a violation to revel over a new addition who could be used in more ways than one? The point of the post is that the guy could be more than a ST'er/slot reciever. The FIRST thing that I mentioned about Parrish was that he at one time was an All State QB in high school.

Look, if you want to be objective, fine, but don't respond just to be belligerent. Maybe I better use smaller words, I forgot who I'm dealing with. I'm sure that you're a decent guy, just sand off some of the edges. One other thing, I noticed that you really don't post you just have retorts. If you want to be on the board, why don't YOU come up with an idea and not just belittle and criticize others who do? All of your responses are either negative or flat out argumentative. Don't be intimidated, you're just as good as all the other boys and girls.

    317602

    [/qu

i read your post "he was a qb in highschool" and i read your comments. I also read it from 20 other people. We all realize that he can be used in many different situations - that was the benefit of selecting this player. I was really glad you could point that out though. i was having a hard time getting it. and thanks, i am a good guy.

  11. I got to tell ya, your spelling and comprehension is not your strong suit. Did you happen to notice in that first thing that they call a sentence that I said, " I just noticed your "smart remarks"? Maybe I can help you out with an alibi. You're used to speed reading, right? But what about your spelling? I can't help you there.

Tell me bro, what is it that you can't grasp about the post? I didn't post it so I could occupy my time. I posted to make a point, a point unfortunately that you can't understand. While you're occupying my time, I have a question for you. Are you new to reading? Just asking, I don't want this gibberish to confuse you.

    317597

i talk fast and i type fast. if i make mistakes, i rely on a spell check to fix them. this place doesn't offer such a feature.

heres the deal. your post read "hes a specialty player, but in more ways than the obvious one. even a 5 yr old can see that they are all obvious ones. so thanks for pointing out the obvious. its not confusing, i was just surprised you would start a new post for such nonsense.

  12. Hey djfarr00, I just noticed your "smart" remarks. How you interpret specialty player for special player is pretty clever. I have to give you credit though, your spelling and diction is impressive. If I had to descibe it, I'd have to descibe it as optic pollution. I can understand that my post sounds like a 10 year old's, to a 5 year old reader. Go ask an adult to explain it for you.

To Dennis in Az, thanks for your insight congeniality.

    317592

that was a rreally good post. made me laugh pretty hard. its a shame the rest of your posts don't offer the same humor / insight as that did. its something you should work on. and i will make sure i fix my typing errors from now.

  13. Arrington is better than a 1400 yard rusher in the NFL? How can you say you would rather have someone who is not proven? but i guess im the only one

    317577

hes a 1400 yard back w/ fumbling problems and injury concerns. he's already taken a ton of punishment and he's dumber than a box of rocks.

travis single handedly cost us at least 3 games during the 02-03 season. games where his fumbles were either returned for or lead to tds.

add to that bitter and wants to be a feature back looking to make a huge check next year - when his contract is up

    take arrington everyday

  14. Does Arizona really think that J.J Arrington is their guy. I mean come on, he's 26 years old and hasnt played a down in the NFL yet. I mean Marcell Ship is decent at best. I would much rather have Travis Henry than those two guys. And they picked Arrington with the 2nd rounder that they would have given us. I would have traded us the pick for Henry I think they would get better vaule.

    317556

sry man, i would take arrington everyday over henry. i think they made the right call.

  15. According to local news, Leonhard and a FB from Purdue have already been signed.  Leonhard is only 5-8 with below average speed, what is he going to provide for us???

    317544

think kurt shultz. white guy who can play. (maybe not kurt shultz) i watched him play northwestern 2 years in a row. he's kind of a ball hawk, and he makes plays. if we picked him up, he can contribute. probably special teams, but with pp and ir gone, we need someone who can play on special teams.

  16. Wow now there's genius. So if you get irritated with your team you should quit cheering for them? Me, I call that bandwagoning and I really hate bandwagoners.

you dont want to read garbage on the board, why are you reading the board?

Were you compelled to read? Take your own advice,

    "if it's so bad leave"

    See ya!

    316490

well i wouldn't want to be a bandwagoners, and you hating me has a serious impact on my life.

my expecation is that there won't be garbage on the board.

i'm happy with this draft minus our last pick. i did not post a "reality" that was full of incosistancies and half truths. i just like to comment on those. so if its alright w/ you i 'll stick around in the hopes some of your smarts will rub off on me.

  17. My only question would be would this kid have been available in round 5 or 6?

    316274

ne picked macklin? i htink at og yesterday w/ the 31st pick. Baas whom most of the people around here wanted was still on the board. sometimes our ratings are different the kipers. and here's the kicker.... sometimes we're right

    BAckoff

  18. At the end of the season what it all comes down to is two teams fighting for one crown.

I know that many of you Donahoe Koolaid drinkers think that the Bills are going to be there.  Oh, really.  Well, I got news for you…If you think this 9-7 team that got exposed vs. PITT at home are going to be better than last season…. You’re in denial or you’ve had one too many Donahoe cocktails.

Lets talk the AFC East… after all, the road to the playoffs begins or ends right there…  If you’re not in the sweepstakes for the division crown, you’re can’t even think beyond that.

So what it comes down to is can the Bills win the division, and if not, how many “Ws” will it take to get a wild card invitation.

Anyone think New England will slip a notch or two?  OK, let’s say they do.  Dropping down to from 14 wins to a 12 win team in the division ain’t too bad is it?  I’d take that.  And those of you that think because of the Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crennel exits the Pats are going in the tank, think again.  Belicheck has absolutely no life outside of football.  He eats, drinks, and sleeps football 24/7 and there ain’t anyone out there that will out work him.  He’s figured out how to get 53 guys to play together regardless of their talents & skills.  If any of you remember the bills SB teams… well, no matter how depleted they got in the mid 90’s, because they knew what it took to win, they were always in the thick of things until the team core just got too old and they addressed it too late.

Now the Jets.  Anyone think they took a step back?  Well, if you do, then you must have been living on Mars over the past few months.  At worst, they will match there last year’s

Record.  Herm Edwards has consistently has improved the Jets… and with Coles, Jolly, and Nugent, a team with a solid “O” line and solid “D”, just got better… last year’s 10 win team is a cinch to win 11 games.

How about the Fins…  Well, remember this name, “Hudson Hauck”.  Yeah, this is the dude that put the Chargers O line back together in two seasons… and he did it with scrubs… not real high draft picks, nor big name free agents… and he’s going to take the Fins youngsters and do the same.  Fins have very good WRs and a pretty good TE.  Now they have at least a RB that make them credible and legitimate.  Their QB, Feely, ain’t that bad… and with the new regime and a better performing O line, their offense has to be considerably better than a year ago.  Their defense is stellar, and with the additions, even minus Surtain, they still have a top 8 defense.  Let’s not forget that Saban was Belichick’s defensive coordinator when Belechick was the Browns HC.  Clearly, though… the improvements and additions which the Dolphins made this offseason are much more so than did the bills.

Now the Bills.  Let’s talk the 2nd rated defense in the league last season.  Is the loss of Pat Williams a big deal?  Well, no, if you replace him with some +/> than him.  The Bills didn’t and in doing so, just negated Sam Adams  effectiveness.  Sam cannot play well unless he has an upper echelon DT next to him.  Otherwise he can be easily controlled.  Let’s not forget this #2 defense, when pitted against > than .500 teams, got killed.  The Jets game at home was the only> that the bills managed to beat…. And let’s not forget, as mentioned above, how PITT exposed the truth.  Their D is a top 10er, bur without the heavyweights in the middle, they can be had.  The Bills “O” is better simply by the subtraction of Bledsoe.  But, the offensive line is a still an issue.  At best, the bills have only solidified LG, RG, and RT.  Center and LT…. The two most important components of any offensive line are  problem areas.  LT is a huge problem and Teague is barely adequate at center.  If he’s surrounded by upper echelon O linemen, he’s OK.  Without that, he sucks.  No problem with WR/RB. Tight end? Big problem… Bills top two TEs go down in December with torn ACLs… No way either one is where they were performance wise before this December… and Kevin Everett is not going to be a player for at least a year or two. QB… well the trio of Losman, Holcomb, and Matthews can best be described as “brittle”.  None have been able to sty healthy a full season of playing.  Losman… maybe he gets a mulligan for last season and being injured.  But essentially, he’s a rookie.  Well, aside from Rothlisberger, there ain’t a 1st year QB in recent memory that took his team to the playoffs, let alone the promised land.  SO, anyone think lighning will strike twice two years in a row?

So the way I see it, the jets and Pats are flying at 30K feet.  The Bills and Fins are flying at somewhere around 8K feet and are probably going to duke it out for somewhere between a7-9 and 9-7 finish.

Now, why Roscoe Parish?  Of course, we all know there’s a shortage of 5-9, 170 lb. Receivers.  Hell, who becomes expendable?  Fast Freddie, Sam Aiken?  And Don’t we already have Terrence McGee Fast Freddie and Nate Clements to return kicks and punts?

Isn’t Parish the same as Santana Moss?  How many games has Moss missed due to injuries?  So, how does this pick make sense?… even if Moulds costs $$$ next season, cut him and bring in a FA!!!  If Parish was the only one there, trade the pick for more picks. And I still don’t see why Adam Terry didn’t get snagged…. Must be his 6’8” 330 frame exceeded their ht./wt. Criteria or they’re worried about feeding the guy.

Someone once said “be careful what you wish for”.  Well, I hated to see Polian take the fall for two losing Super Bowls.  But I couldn’t wait for Butler to make his exit.  But having gone through the misery of the last 5 drafts with Donahoe, I’ve come to appreciate the Butler era and how good Butler really was.  San Diego was in a similar situation to Buffalo 5 years ago.  San Diego, under the foundation that Butler laid is a much better team than the Bills.  JB didn’t out live Ralph, but somehow I think JB is smiling down on us and has gotten the last laugh.  Somehow, someway Teflon Tom has been able to con a multitude of Bills fans.  As merciless as Dickerson was with Butler, I wonder how Teflon Tom would fare with that kind of constant sniping that JB lived with dayin/dayout.  Teflon Tom has somehow managed to get a free pass.  Well, when does that run out?  How many more seasons of no playoffs will it take before this ‘multitude’ finally spits out the Donahoe Koolaid?

Hey... I'm just the messenger.  I'm neither negative or positive.  I'm just bringing reality to the multitudes.... and the Bills improvements, if any, this offseason are not as good as the improvements the other teams in their division made.

    316082

i 've figured it out. you're either 1; trying to get everyone fired up.

    2. retarded, and no nothing about football - donahoes last 5 drafts make butler look like a companion on your short bus. butler remember brought us rj. he had one good draft from 1996- 2000. the 2000 draft might have been the worst in history. no players remain on the team, and most likely not in the league.

you stated aren't santana moss and roscoe parrish the same ? answer no. another 5'9 receiver was the mvp of the superbowl last year. you say that kevin everett won't be ready for 2 years? how do you know you freak? then turn around and say adam terry would have been great. all reports i heard / read say that he is a project if indeed he's going to play left tackle. there are too many inconsistancies in your post -

3 if you're that irritated just don't cheer for the bills. in fact i really don't want to read your garbage on this board. if its so bad leave.

just remember the offseason isn't over yet. if you want to have this conversation again on sept 2 i would be glad too.

  19. Hey, so the Tipster is excited and he's typing too fast!

You didn't get the point somehow? Some of our recent players display some versatility, the ability to play several positions.

And... we have a coaching staff is that is not afraid to use them in multiple ways!

    Verstehen sie das point?

    315812

if you read the entire post, it didn't make sense. somebody followed up his frist post saying that many players have played / play multiple positions.

he agreed. then said that gibberish.

it sounded like a ten year old
