1. What if the Bills were able to pull this off in next months draft. With the 9th overall Clausen falls to us, and at the 41st pick his teammate Golden Tate is there. Do we pull the trigger?

There is no doubt that probably one of these or both of the picks will go to tackle or defensive line, but this duo was literally unstoppable in South Bend.

Even when Micheal Floyd was out with a broken collarbone, every person in the stands new Clausen was going to Tate over and over, yet they could not be stopped.

This chemistry would immediately show at the NFL level because both played in Weiss's pro-style offense.

I think we would be looking at a Kelly/Reed connection once again, and big play potential. The running game is there for at least the next 2-3 years with Jackson (and probably Lynch). So Spillar as great as he might be, is not the pick at #9. RB's are a dime-a-dozen. Lets not waste it again.

Just watch Jimmy Clausen's highlight tape, it mine as well have been Golden Tate's too.

    Your Thoughts.

literally unstoppable? wow. You'd think that combination would have led to some success last year

  2. lol, i know thats a joke post but i was curious and did some research...

in 2007 the Colts picked a WR in Round 1 and a DT in Round 3

in 2006 they went RB in 1, CB in 2, and LB in 3

in 2005 they went CB in 1, CB in 2 and DE in 3

in 2004 they had no 1 pick, and went Safety in the 2nd.

in 2003 they went TE in 1, Safety in 2, and CB in 3

If only we still had Polian! he wouldnt have drafted as "foolishly" as Marv/Dick!

thats a lot of earlier DBs for winning a Super Bowl in 2006...

Didn't they take Tony Oguho (guessing on the last name) last year in the first round to play LT?

  3. Believe it or not, I'm not really into doing mocks. I mean, I've done them in the past, but each year I realize you cannot predict trades, so they pretty much ruin the whole thing. This year, my buddies and I may try doing a live mock draft so we can adjust on the fly to trades or just a standard old mock draft. It's always fun to wager, haha. Keeps things interesting when the Cardinals are on the clock.

I have not even attempted a mock draft yet. I'll put one together either tomorrow after work or before the draft on Saturday.

My brother and I do a mock - 4 years running. We account for trades by not assigning a team to the play. Ex. Pick 1 Jake Long, Pick 2 Glen Dorsey....ect.

It works pretty well. We live in different cities and use food as a prize. I live in Oakland. I win, he ships me wings from Buffalo. I lose, I ship Dungenus crab from SF.

Fun times. Enjoy your draft day!

  5. Absolutely, but you have to look at the numbers (I'd prefer Combine numbers) to make sure he will be fast enough and does have enough acceleration to make it at the pro level.... No 4.6 WR is going to be a #1 WR at the pro level... I don't think you look at the numbers so much to see how fast, but is he fast enough? Does he have that burst? If he doesn't he isn't worth taking in the first round, and probably not in the second either.....

    don't quit your day job.

  6. Interesting. Apparently Marv started a trend.

Don Pierson, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo and LB Lance Briggs met to discuss Briggs' contract situation. Angelo offered not to use the franchise tag on Briggs next year if Briggs would play this season. Briggs has said he will sit out the season if the Bears keep the franchise tag on him. No agreement occured during the meeting.

  7. He played that TD pass to Royal perfect!  Looked left and drew the safety over, then turned right for the easy TD pass to Royal   I think we're seeing him mature right before our eyes.  Enjoy!

Have 2 say I have been very critical of him for this. Looked better today and in the last couple weeks.

He really seems to be raising the level of the entire offense.

  8. Shaun King

    Patrick Ramsey

    Jerald Sowell (RB, Jets, TB)

    Richie Petitbon

Rodney Holman (pro bowl TE, retired 1996)

    Chris Bush (WR)

Tulane has more active NFL QBs (3) than most division I programs

    847077

With the exception of Rodney Holman, that is an ugly list. Names that JP will be mentioned with anytime anyone asks for some really bad players from Tulane.

BTW Tulane is a DI program.

  9. Offensive line played awesome today! We will not be drafting any offensive lineman next year.

    842167

Great thread. I don't know that anyone has complimented you for the irony that you brought up. One game doesn't make a difference unless future performance remains the same.

  10. Picture is wrong...big deal....let's read what they say about JP and his peers that are soooo much better....

    Vince Young....

To protect Young against the aggressive Ravens defense, Tennessee went to a run-oriented offense (38 carries); Young's passes were mediocre, but he scrambled well and played with adequate results.

    Matt Lienhart....

He really seems to be regressing each week as he continues to take a pounding and is forced to run for his life behind an inept Arizona OL. He has five INTs in the past three games as Cardinals were embarrassed at home against Dallas.

    Alex Smith...

His numbers in an unexpected road win at Detroit were not flashy -- 14-for-20 for 136 yards with no TDs and no INTs -- but the run game with Frank Gore was the reason San Francisco won.

OVERALL.....All of the young QBs are stinking up the joint.  Hopefully JP sees the light in the second half and comes out to play next year as a veteran with some battle experience.....

    838911

    You're right. Hopefully he does!

Otherwise, you're just comparing him against other poor QBs to almost justify the fact that he sucks.

You say"all young quarterbacks are stinking up the joint" the fact is they are not - see #2 on your list.

  11.  Although the jury is still out on JP, it is nonsesnse to give up on him now. This is only in effect his second year, and has a brand new offensive scheme this year, but still has a respectable QB rating half way into the season.  This behind an O line so bad it has to be completely re shuffled in mid seaon. This is almost never done, and shows just how pathetic the line is. Nobody succeeds behind line play like that.

In two games against the Pats this year JP had two fumbles and one interception. In those same two games, Tom Brady had two fumbles and one interception.

Watch the Jets v Lions game, compare how much time Pennington had to throw compared to how much time JP had v Lions

    815980

    Brady 2 wins

    Losman 0 wins

    What else matters?
