  2. From KFFL

Free-agent TE Fred Davis (Redskins), who is going to visit the Buffalo Bills Thursday, March 28, said he was impressed with head coach Doug Marrone after having dinner with him last week. "I think when you meet him, just talking to him, he seems like a player's coach, down to earth and real and that's something with a lot of coaches you don't get a chance to see," Davis said. "He was really cool and all the things he talked about you can tell he's a humble guy that doesn't make choices because of money. It's more about what he wants to do in life."

Would like to see him in Buffalo. At 80% he's still better than anyone we've had in the last 5 years

  3. Fitz we know is not a starter in this league (some of us knew it a lot sooner than others). Kolb has potential as a starter. Therefore kolb is infinitely better than Fitz.

I've been on and off the board during the day hoping for a signing or at least some news / gossip. This is the smartest evaluation of Fitz vs. Kolb. I can't believe (at least according to Chris Brown) that we're not looking at him.

We'd have a legit starter for a year and if he sucks then we have next years draft to pick up a QB. plus we wouldn't have to use a pick on a QB from this year's bunch of clowns and could fill positions of need (which there are decent amount)

  4. Bad idea, and not what they are going to do. There are no loose Qb's out there that are appreciably better than Fitz.

Kolb is much better, I'd even go out on a limb and say appreciably better than Fitz. He can make all the throws. Fitz could make one maybe 2 on a good day. Line him up and give him a shot. This year's group of rookie QBs is terrible - not a starter among them.

  5. Yeah. What do you disagree with?

Did I need to say "They got rid of Fitz because they want to develop a rookie, because Fitz sucks"? I thought we all knew that.

Sorry, I thought you wrote that they got rid of Fitz because they want to develop a rookie. Good that you know that. I'd rather they sign Kolb draft for all other positions of need and see what the guy can do behind a decent OL.

  6. I think there is no point bringing in a guy like Kolb. They got rid of Fitz, because they want to develop a rookie. They have Tarvaris Jackson if the rook isn't ready for opening day. People trying to salvage this season by bringing in a guy that is just gonna do what Fitz did are missing the whole reason why they let Fitz go.

It's going to be a rookie that starts. They will probably suck this year, but it's time to search for the "quarterback of the future".

    Just accept it.

They got rid of Fitz because "he was competing for a backup role". He's really not good at all. He'd make a damn good Fathead but is not starting material. Regardless of starting a rookie QB or an 4 year vet this team could not line up Fitz as a starter 2 years in a row

  7. I feel the same way. Fitz put SJ13 and Chandler on the map. CJ has shown himself to be an able receiver out of the backfield when isolated on a LB and TJ is quietly learning the offense and is a bona fide deep threat. Once our "Fab Five" O Line return fully, I see this offense opening up...Let's go Fitz.

Sorry man....Fitz didn't put anyone on the map. Those guys are the best receivers on the team and in spite of how sorry Fitz is, they've become somewhat successful (If you're talking about getting paid then very successful). He loses games. Frequently.

  8. Regardless of our ultra-terrible Defense...Between the SF game, and the NE game, Fitz missed no less than 6 passes that could have gone for TD's...At the very least they would have been VERY long gains...He kills you more with the plays he does not make...Other than that he's about average...I will say this for him...On all 6 of those plays he made the proper read and threw it to the right receiver...He just missed them...badly...Two resulting in INT's...He's smart...He reads Defenses well...He simply does not have the physical abilities throwing the ball accurately that the better NFL QB's do...That has killed him throughout his career...And that will continue to kill all of us in Buffalo... B-)

It seems that he does make the correct read when its a throw he's comfortable making. I think he has a huge confidence problem throwing the ball down field. It appears to my very untrained eye that Fitz walks up to the line knowing he's going to try and throw it as far as he can (all 35 yards) or he finds another receiver. Dude lacks the ability (part arm strength, part confidence) to go thu progressions and find a 2nd or 3rd WR deep downfield.

  9. Fitz is terrible. Sure he can occasionally throw a rocket 6 yard pass with questionable accuracy at best, but any time he has to put some air under the ball he struggles mightily. Its a damn joke that people call him a game manager. He's a game killer.

The D in the NE game crumbled but the offence didn't respond until NE scored 5 consecutive TDs. Sad on both sides.

In SF Fitz missed open receivers downfield because he has no touch. He can throw it as far as he can or it comes up 10 yards short.

  10. I don't think Fitz compares well with RJ. RJ had a big arm but did not have the necessary feel to sense a rush and took too many sacks. Losman resembles far more closer to RJ. Fitz has a average to above average arm, but has made poor decisions (with the INTs) and also has simply been inaccurate. I see Fitz to be a taller version of Flutie.

Wait. There are 32 NFL starting QBs. You believe Fitz's arm puts him above 16 other QBs? I believe he's in the bottom 5 of all starting QB's.

Further Fitz cannot consistently deliver the ball with any touch. If he completes a pass its a line drive pass on a slant or over the middle. On the play early in the KC game where he was booed for missing Chandler, that throw had to go over the top with touch and he didn't throw the pass because he can't make the throw.

He should hand the ball (this team seems to do that well) off or run it himself. We can have a Fitz wildcat. Anything else makes me cringe.

  11. Mario had a rough game and, rightly so, is getting lots of criticism. It was like having a clone of Kelsey - on a bad day. But where was the rest of the DL. NO ONE is bitc#ing about KW and MD who were supposed to bring pressure up the middle. The whole line was manhandled and the team was outcoached. Rough to watch. Almost canceled the ticket for the 2nd straight year but am going to stick with this team and see if they can win - or find a way to draft a QB in the first round next year.

  12. weve got everybody and their mother framing the bills offseason as the best in the nfl

jaws is telling everyone over the airways that other teams are "afraid" of what the bills are doing

even hell has frozen over with mel kiper now reversing field and showing love for lowly buffalo

im just now starting to be able to erase from my memory the awful dickball epic collapse. and of course we only have to look back at last season to see this team doesnt handle positive attention well

can we please go back to being just one of the pack. at least until a few real games are under our belt. heck, even then id rather be running under the radar

Are you kidding me? "I'm a little nervous about positive attention". People B word when we're ignored. People whine when we get a little hype. We made some good moves. Be excited about it and stop being such a damn puss.

  13. Bell was OK in pass protection last season, and useless as a run blocker except on plays where he was leading a screen or pulling (because he is agile and with a head of steam, he can push someone). Not watching tonight as I was out but he has a long way to go from last season. As Bill often points out, the guy is athletic but not strong and cannot bull anyone.

He looked slow and weak tonight. Real bad.

  14. Once again....Jim Kelly had a horrible Wonderlich test score.

Jim Kelly isn't very bright. He was a great QB though

Wonderlic doesn't measure success, it measures intelligence.

Does believing black people tend to be more athletically gifted than white people make you a racist?

    nope..probably more of a realist

I beg to differ on that. Due to his hard work and die hard attitude he has impressed me. He has taken his physical skills and dedicated himself to playing QB at the pro level where athleticism alone won't get it done.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were in the NFL. Is this Clay Mathews?

  15. WOW! You don't put much stock at all in the wonderlick test being the end all be all of a mans intelligence do you?

Do you realize that some of the guys are trained and coached up on the wonderlick???? The same article I read also spoke to WR and DBs traditionally having HORRIBLE wonderlick scores because nobody cares what they score. It's not that every WR and DB in the NFL is an idiot. It's that it is not important so they don't put any effort into it.

That being said isn't it just the tiniest bit possible that perhaps athletic QBs in general don't get coached up on or care too much about the wonderlick since their supreme athletic gifts will get them where they need to go on draft day? To my recollection Tebow didn't impress any Mensa members with his wonderlick score but nobody ever said he was "dumb".

    Hrmmmmm.

I believe that intelligence testing is valid - using Wonderlic or some other form of IQ test and that people are limited in the jobs that they can do successfully by many things (effort, motivation, ethics, and intelligence being a few). You wouldn't want Vince Young trying to repair the space shuttle would you?

Its no secret that you can prepare and in some cases beat the Wonderlic test - so your results are higher than they should be.

Regarding your last paragraph - Actually, I don't think its possible. With all the hype (real and perceived) associated with Wonderlic test scores and all the dollars associated with being a top 5 pick, I believe all players are coached on the Wonderlic. See Vince Young and his taking the test multiple times.

Facts are facts. Half the population is below average at something. The original post that I responded to tried to tie Newton comparisons to racist behavior. I don't think that's true unless you believe black people are less intelligent that white people - which would in fact make you racist. My comment back was simply stating that he tests out to be dumb and that's where some of negativity is centered around.

BTW, Tebow hasn't impressed anyone in NFL yet either

  16. Google wonderlic and see how many NFL people as well as sportswriters comment on how the test doesnt predict success and is largely not used.

Its just not used in any way you have described it. Favre scored a 22, Big Ben a 23, so they must be idiots who have no chance to succeed? ?

SI just did a piece on how there is no correlation btwn the wonderlic and success.

btw Eli manning scored 10 points higher than Peyton, who only scored a 28......the same score as mark sanchez and lower than JP Losman, Rex Grossman and a host of other scrubs.

ITs about football, there have been plenty of guys who arent booksmart but can read a defense. Thats why coaches want one on one interviews. To talk football.

I'm quite familiar with the pros and cons of Wonderlic as I use it for my job frequently. Wonderlic has many tests - a CPP which measures personality (I don't think the NFL uses this) and a congnitive portion that measures intelligence. Did you even read what I wrote? I never said they predict success or failure. They measure intelligence. Half the people in the country have below average intelligence. That doesn't mean the same half are less successful, they just have a more difficult time doing it depending on their profession. Cam is below average. I didn't write he's going to suck because he's dumb. I just stated that he's dumb and therefore he'll probably have a more difficult time certain professions or portions of that profession. Also, other skills, such as work ethic, drive, competitive nature can all help overcome his low IQ.

  17. wonderlic scores are largely irrelevant and are just fodder for the fans, just like "mock" drafts.

You see thats why Gailey wants to sit down with these guys and go over stuff on film, you get to see if a prospect understands he pre snaps reads and can recognize shifting coverages.

Its far less important whether a guy can tell you when two trains leaving two cities will meet traveling at X speed.

They are (Wonderlic tests) actually quite useful at gauging intelligence / mental capacity. Cam is slightly below average intelligence. Blaine isn't. Dumb people generally have more obstacles to overcome but can do it with drive, effort, and hard work. That's why they have the sit down interviews - to see what else a player can bring to the table.

To call someone below average intelligence isn't racist, its stating a fact. No matter what type of test people take intelligence doesn't change. Personalities might, but not smarts.

  18. I was so mad when i went online to my directv account. I clicked on nfl sunday ticket, and price is now $315. yikes!!!

I'm still getting it. Maybe that's why I was mad. lol

So who else is krazy like me? Meaning renewing or singing up for sunday ticket.

It took 2 minutes and quick question "is this price negotiable?" and Directv dropped me down to 29 a month for 6 months. I'm good with that number
