  1. Interesting note: Timmy Smith was given a 30-month federal prison sentence in July for cocaine distribution. He's been in jail about six months now.
  2. Here comes the dreaded second quarter for a Bronco fan.
  3. I think they were, if not I think Washington might have been a 3-point favorite at the most. I was in college at Michigan State. Bring back the old Denver Broncos uniforms.
  4. Network broadcast. I'm sure the Bills-Giants will be re-aired at some point.
  5. I don't think people are defending Merriman. I don't think he deserves to be in the pro bowl. But in this case both teams are wrong. Before the shoving match at midfield. LT wouldn't shake hands so he's a sore loser. Then he runs to get into a confrontation with Patroits players after they act like jerks. Both parties are wrong.
  6. Call me crazy but I think Peyton played well . . . because he didn't try to change the running plays at the LOS.
  7. But I still think S.D. wins I think the Chargers would be wise to use Michael Turner on short yardage if he is available.
  8. In my 30+ years of watching pro football, I never seen a dumber move. I went to the Eagles message boards on the web and they are saying fire Reid now. Jim Johnson just resigned . . . some Eagle fan said.
  9. Yes it's the NFL Network. It's living up to its potential.
  10. I'm going to watch Superbowl XL tonight. They're giving us what we asked for i.e. classic games from the past. They say they're going to air 9 of the best Superbowl games, original broadcast. NFL films claims the Chiefs-Vikings bowl was inadvertently taped over so it doesn't exist. Hopefully they take it further and give us some playoff games too.
  11. To clerify, Montana didn't have Roger Craig and Jerry Rice until his second and third Superbowl. 1984 and 1988.
  12. That's what bugs me the most about McNabb, (other than him being inaccurate), he seems to be untouchable. People are ripping Vick why not McNabb?
  13. Are the Eagles better without Donovan McNabb? I think they are because Garcia is a more accurate passer. But they've also balanced their offense since losing McNabb to injury. More running plays. And how many times do you see this. When coaches get away from the running game they start losing. When the come back to the running game they start to win more. When McNabb comes back maybe they'll wise up and take the ball out of Donovan's hands and place the offense in Westbrook's. Westbrook is better than Reggie Bush. The media hype is going to the wrong player. They are so similiar in build etc. but Westbrook can run between the tackles. So, at this point Westbrook is a better player than Reggie Bush.
  14. Isn't he like 5-11 or something. Both players seemed to have really hurt themselves.
  15. People like Brady because he has a stronger arm and is bigger. Montana had junk in KC and also had no running back in that first Superbowl with S.F. He didn't get the all world talent until later in his time at S.F. Brady also won with a questionable running back in the form of Antoione Smith (spelling).
  16. Interesting post. I think you still need to take a QB in the first round if he has that kind of talent. The problem comes when these QBs don't live up to expectations even before they make the playoffs. I, for one, will be glad when I don't have to watch David Carr take another snap in the NFL. The guy is terrible. If you will remember, the Ravens have had a terrible QB situation, before and after the Cal QB they took in round #1. They tried Stoney Case, etc. etc.
  17. Would you rather have him or a Jon Kitna? Or is it John Kitna.
  18. I agree with you on this. And I would say it applies to many, many other NFL QBs over the years. And for the same reasons, I can't understand why someone doesn't want Kurt Warner as their starting QB. Kurt can still make all the throws. His play has slipped some, but he can still make all the throws. You got guys like Kitna starting and Warner riding the bench. Guys like Steve Deberg fit the physical ceiling that you talk about. And it's why I liked Ryan Leaf so much. He had great upside.
  19. I think you're right. New England is a huge hurdle to get over. Tom Brady is not someone I'd want to play in the playoffs. Even though my Broncos beat them last year. And Baltimore can beat anyone if they get an early lead. It's up to Phillip Rivers and he's got a bumb ankle. Rivers is playing well. But the Bolts defense has given up a lot of points in a lot of games. If they lose people are going to be calling for Marty's head.
  20. Andrew Walter is a better prospect than Quinn at least from a pure passer point of view. However, (and it's a very big however), he seems to like getting sacked.
  21. I've noticed the same thing. Quinn can't seem to throw a tight spiral.
  22. The NFL network has been advertising that they are going to re-air Superbowls every Thursday until the Superbowl. The first one is tonight Superbowl XL and next week is New England and St. Louis from 2001. Furthermore, they advertised Bradshaw, Montana and Namath. Which means Superbowl III. I was looking forward to it. The Patroits/Rams game is still on the schedule on NFL.com for next Thursday. Now all of a sudden it's gone . . . Seahawks/Pittsburgh will not air tonight. What gives? Now they are going to air NFL replays of the Phil/Giants series from this year. What is the hang up? I would like to see Superbowl III. I sick of hearing people talk about it. I want to see it.
