  1. A very good point that few people remember. It took the Rams four or five possessions inside the redzone to score a touchdown in the Superbowl. They moved the ball well, but they had a tough time scoring. I have gone back and forth on this game regarding Flutie and Johnson. I think Flutie would have made a difference, but I'm not so sure the Bills would have scored more TDs. They probably would have scored more field goals but I'm not so sure about touchdowns. Remember also the Titans had a top-5 run defense. The Rams had a top-5 run defense also, and those are the teams that end up in the Superbowl.
  2. Not having Thurman Thomas for the whole season and Eric Moulds for a few games and Pendry all combined to hurt the Bills offense in 1999. It's funny how Belichek says Flutie is the one of the hardest guys to defend and people here say it's so easy.
  3. I think Flutie is a agile as Barry Sanders, OJ and Gale Sayers. It's just that he's not as fast. I think you're thinking speed rather than agility. Most agile QB? Cunningham, Tarkenton and Young were no better than Flutie. I'll give you Vick. Vick's small space explosiveness would beat Flutie hands down.
  4. Maybe Flutie did say things, but I have not seen teammates come out in mass against him. And, by the way, does it really matter? Both Jim Kelly and Dan Marino ripped teammates. Watch Jim Kelly's "Beyond the Glory" on Fox Sports net. In that show, they had a clip by Thurman Thomas who said "we need a new QB" or something to that effect. Plus "House" Ballard (spelling) wasn't that good and I think Kelly had a right to say something about him.
  5. You have a right to your own opinion.
  6. Now that Flutie has retired . . . I wanted leave a message and say that I really had the most fun while watching Flutie when he was in Buffalo. To me, Flutie had his best success in the NFL when he was in Buffalo. And to me, at that time, it was a great fit for Flutie and Buffalo. Flutie will be linked to Buffalo probably more than any other team. I never wanted Flutie to leave Buffalo and I never wanted him to leave any other team he was on. Even in Canada. But, at that time, I new someone had to go. So when he went to San Diego, I was all for it. I'm a Denver Bronco fan and the 1998 season was the most fun I had watching NFL football. Not only did Denver win the Superbowl, but one of my favorite players was doing so well in Buffalo. I was a big Roger Staubach, John Elway and Flutie fan and I stuck with those players until the retired. To me Flutie was the most agile player I've ever seen. The thing that bothered me the most was when people said Flutie didn't have the arm strength to play in the NFL. I guess because I know hundreds of players who had weaker arms. The other stuff I won't get into. Someday I'm going to go to Buffalo to check out the stadium. I'll probably buy a throwback jersey sometime too.
  7. So it would have been okay (sort of) for TO to have said another black QB might have been better than McNabb. But because it was a white QB getting the praise, TO needs to be kicked off the team. Real mature, McNabb. Real mature. 592966[/snapback] For those who don't know, I was probably the first one on this board to rip on McNabb and Peyton Manning on a consistent basis. And boy was I ripped up and down for it. But look now. McNabb is a jerk. Back then I didn't think a team(s) would be able to win a Superbowl with either of these two. The first time I saw McNabb play, I knew he wouldn't be that good because he was too inaccurate. Plus, he seemed to buy into the hype by the media that was written about him. For the record, Troy Aikman was the first one to publically rip McNabb. At least from the stand point of an NFL insider. And Aikman did it during a preseason game. That was funny. For those who don't know, Aikman said McNabb was one of the most inaccurate passers he had ever seen. Another funny thing was how Aikman thought the comment was so innocent (which it was). But the media got ahold of it and it created controversy in Philly. I don't think Aikman ever apologized, which was great and he didn't get fired. Russ Limbaugh was the second person to rip McNabb and he told the truth and got fired for doing so. He said that the media was very desireous that a black QB do well and they (the media) hyped McNabb and he was never that good from the get-go. Forcing Limbaugh to resign was a joke. He just said what many others thought. I know I did. TO just agreed with a statement made by Michael Irvin that was relayed by a 21-year old intern at ESPN and the team went nuts. But,TO is a total azz because he was warned not to go to Philly because of McNabb. TO was the one who said he wanted to play with McNabb. He should have stayed in Baltimore. And he shouldn't have signed the contract with Philly if he didn't like it. The NAACP leader came out and made some cruel statements about McNabb. He said that McNabb should have remained a run-first QB. At least that's how I read his comments. To make such a statement is a totally stupid. Running QBs including, Steve Young, Roger Staubach, John Elway, Doug Flutie (who are all white) were all ripped for running too much early in their career. If anything, Donovan is doing the right thing by learning to be a throw-first QB.
  8. Just ignore my post then and/or stop talking about my team.
  9. Pittsburgh, Carolina, New England all won. Tampa lost on turnovers and a dropped TD pass.
  10. I was living in phoenix at the time and I like Plummer. But his faults are numerous and he can be exploited. If the Broncos and get some turnovers they'll win.
  11. I hope they don't lose. Because I think Mike deserves respect and I can see the fans turning on him if the Broncos lose. Plummer and the defense didn't play well the last two times in the playoffs. And you're right, if the Broncos win they won't beat the Colts and it'll probably be another rout.
  12. I don't see my Broncos winning. At least I'm not holding out that much hope that they win. Basically, I see Tom Brady as the difference maker here. The Bronocs were second against the rush and 28th against the pass in 2005. They also, according to NFL Network, were 28th in the league in sacks. Added to that, the Broncos were one of the top defenses in the league at allowing points at only 16.1 per game. But despite the good and the bad, I still think Tom Brady can overcome most things in the playoffs. Plus, the Pats defense will find a way to stop Jake Plummer. The only thing that can help Denver is if they get a turnover early and score early and get that running game going. Thus bringing in the home field advantage.
  13. All good points. But, the Patroits have a shot because of Tom Brady. Really in a nutshell that's all there is too it. Brady is such a huge difference maker for them.
  14. another Manning. another big game. another choke.
  15. I think the Pats did make the playoffs because of a weak division, but I also think Brady is a huge factor in that and it can't be overlooked. Without Tom Brady the Pats go nowhere (and that includes Flutie).
  16. The Panthers with Jake Delhomme are the best team to knock off the Pats in the playoffs (Superbowl). They have a good defense and running game (Foster and Goings) and recievers to get the job done in the playoffs. I'm a little bias because Delhomme is my fantasy QB.
  17. If the Pats score early, which I think they will, then the Colts are toast. Homefield advantage can work for and against you. People are overlooking New England. Has Tom Brady ever lost in the Playoffs?
  18. The Jags losing last night to the Patroits is another example of why the NFL can be such BS sometimes. The Jags started the wrong QB. According to many, including the NFL networks Rod Woodson, the backup should have gotten the call. They did so, because, in my mind Leftwich is their No. 1 draft pick and biggest financial investment. Therefore, if they would have started the No. 2 guy and lost then the fans would have thrown a fit as to why the No. 1 drafted player was sitting on the bench in the playoffs. Much like how Reggie Bush was standing on the sidelines in the Rose Bowl. Therefore it's the owner who is making the decision and not the head coach. And it's the head coach who is taking the blame when things are go bad. That's the difference between the Patroits and the rest of the league. Bill B. benched Bledsoe, the franchise player, in favor of a sixth round draft choice and the owner didn't step in and veto the move. Remember when the Chiefs started Elvis Grbac instead of Rich Gannon in the playoffs. I do because my Broncos went on the win the Superbowl after Grbac gave us the game. That's was Marty's call. At least that's what we were told. I'm sure you also remember Ralph Wilson stepping in and forcing Wade Phillips to start RJ in the playoffs. RJ didn't lose the game and he had the game won. But he didn't put any points on the board either. If the Bills would have scored more points like say in the mid to high 20's or low 30's people wouldn't have said Flutie should have started.
  19. 11 pages of posts in one thread. Sounds like Bills fans to me. Some are calling LT the P word. They're saying: a. LT ducks out of bounds rather than taking big hits when the game is on the line. b. Michael Turner is better and breaks more tackles and has more passion. c. LT gives half hearted attempts at catching passes. d. Larry Johnson (KC) has a better o-line but can still break tackles when he needs to. Actually, I think they're right because I think Tomlinson can't break tackles. He's a great open field runner and he can score inside the 5-yard line a lot. But when he gets hit forget it. And at the biggest moments in games he too often fails. In last year's playoff game, against the Jets, he got stuffed in the redzone and I was not surprised when it happened. So when Willis McGahee says he's the best, I'm not so certain he's full of it. McGahee can be a great player and he's a better power runner than LT.
  20. Got home and watched the tail end of the show at 8 p.m. They'll repeat it at midnight. Part I saw talked a little bit about the RJ/DF thing. Thought some might want to know. Sorry if this was already posted.
  21. I just can't afford to buy gas a $2.00 a gallon. Now with prices at $3.19 in my area it's really bad. I bought a used Yamaha for $275.00 and I riding it everywhere. Can't stand gas prices? Buy a moped or cheap motorcycle.
  22. then why do guys like him drop so far in the draft. must be size is better than performance. I like Chatman too. He's too fat. So what. Why cut a guy that gets 20 first downs on 65 carries. Why cut a guy who gets 6-yards a rush.
  23. According to reports out of San Diego, Darren Sproles is quickly turning heads. Most involved say he's something special. There goes my sleeper for fantasy football. The Chargers released Jesse Chatman because they say he's too fat at 5-8 250. He says he's down to 235. I think that's a mistake because he averaged 6 yards a carry last year. They said he was lazy and didn't participate in rehabing his toe. I used him in fantasy football last year and I was impressed by him. Great downhill runner. Other teams are now interested, especially Minnesota. Chatman became expendable because The Chargers also have Michael "the burner" Turner and Andrew Pinnock (spelling).
