The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Delightful. That's not all you said, but if you prefer to mix things up, that's ok. He was "convicted", you said, and your interpretation is that filing a motion to withdraw a guilty plea is the same as not filing a motion at all. The Flynn case is resolved, pending the resolution that comes once the case is finalized. When does he get out? -

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
He is, and certainly this recent interaction doesn't help his case. I just hoped he had more to offer other than accusing a fine poster like @3rdnlng of misunderstanding a direct quote. Deep fake, editing etc. I think what Joe said was pretty clear. I also asked a while back about a comment he made where hurling insults was indicative of losing an argument. I was hoping maybe I misunderstood that as well, or maybe I attributed the post to the wrong poster. I am pretty sure he wrote that, and has gone about tossing insults and name calling, indicating lost arguments. No reply. Then again, to be fair, he was all over the Flynn case being over and there is nothing going on there at all. I think Flynn is learning a new trade at Leavenworth as we speak. -
The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency

I thought about that, but is it better to ignore the comment and quietly enable the guy or jump online and claim someone else has misunderstood the spoken word? I think S3 believes the video is edited deceptively, because to suggest otherwise seems nonsensical. -

This is interesting. Was the video a deep fake? Edited, cut and pasted? What he said seemed pretty straightforward. He was actually quite lucid this time around. -

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The video of the (*^*&%^$^#in the mask above doing the story about the recklessness of the crowd around him while his crew is maskless sort of illustrates the point. Much of what qualifies as reporting is simply an illusion, a story, a myth. When the curtain is pulled back, reality is often revealed. There can be multiple reasons for the illusion, from good old fashioned salesmanship, to well-intentioned but bias-influenced decision making to something much more sinister and manipulative. What strikes me is that in most other instances involving corporate America, people rightly identify the bull#### and call it out. When Wells Fargo manipulated customer accounts, outrage followed. When WaPo —-a commercial enterprise with its success/failure determined by forces other than some nebulous pursuit of “truth”—- reports for 4 years and misses on virtually every aspect of the Russia story, many people just shrug their shoulders. I’ve asked before, but given the outcome of the probe, was WaPo and it’s vaunted staff of reporters and editors with a horde of anonymous sources simply incompetent, or was it deliberate? Either way, it’s a very bad look. But, the entrenched narrative that a “FREE PRESS” is actually free continues to carry the day. -
I heard this person on a satellite station, may have been Howard Stern. She got to talking about her decapitation gag and the fallout....what a sniveling dimwit. Broke down and cried over the mean people in the world. Just another poser. When she is called on this, expect more of the same.

Yeah, this is an odd encounter across the board. The man decides to confront her on the dog being off the leash...she gets upset and agitated and his next thought is to offer the little pup some treats...to get the dog to come over to him? Your plan is to lure the dog away from the woman...In Central Park? Are we suddenly supposed to assume everyone treats each other like they are in a small town in Iowa? She lost her *&^% for sure, but I'd be surprised to hear it's the first time she's identified with being a whackadoodle in her life. Very, very odd.

My God. Even though BIden is a known liar, sexual abuser at worst, serial fondler of women and little girls at best, a guy with a history of making racist comments against minorities and a guy who sells our country out routinely, its very hard to watch this video. Thankfully, watching the BIden supporters line up behind JB to explain it all away makes it very entertaining. I especially thought it was entertaining to watch the View hosts nodded their heads thoughtfully at his answers, as if they were engaged in a real dialogue where the other party actually spoke in complete sentences.

Should Trump Be Wearing A Mask?

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yeah, this has flipped into the tyranny category. I have been at Home Depot, Lowes, the food store and the like and like clockwork, folks are buying such essentials as grills, paint, pavers and decking material. Limit is now 100 people or so, people ripping their masks off as soon as they clear the store exit. On the other hand, places of worship are targeted with no such allowances. I'm not a church goer, have not been for years, but something is wrong here. -

This doesn’t seem at all arbitrary nor capricious. -
Two thoughts. Change "white" to "black" and you are correctly identified as a bigot displaying incredibly short-sighted and culturally unacceptable ignorance. In fact, leaving it as you typed it you display incredible short-sightedness and ignorance that is culturally unacceptable, and reflects a bigotry reasonable people are working hard to move beyond. Also, if you're slow enough to believe the spin that 60,000,000+ and growing Trump supporters are uneducated, angry and Male, you're easily manipulated and just the type of simpleton that suicide vest makers, klansman and antifa warriors look for to spread the gospel of hate. Don't be a victim of your own limitations.

Too slow, Rhino. I duck ducked it. Interestingly, the headline from CBS News indicates “DURING A CONTENTIOUS INTERVIEW, BIDEN SAYS....”. They really love to enable this guy. On the other hand it will be refreshing for Transpy, Tibs and the gang to cast their vote for the arbiter of blackness. Let’s get that thing figured out once and for all!

Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to snafu's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
When all is said and done, the game hasn’t really even started yet. Trump will be hammered on all things Trumpian. Biden’s job killing Go Green philosophy will be front and center, not far removed from 20m folks who found themselves suddenly out of work, the question of governmental incompetence with respect to Covid response juxtaposed with MCA4all and what Americans might have expected had we entrusted every aspect of our health care system to bureaucrats, Joe’s open-borders plan v a sensible immigration plan with reasonable border security. Add to all that....Biden’s evolving rules of engagement for sexual assault victims and as you mentioned, his diminishing mental capacity. Should be interesting. -

It’s not so much a vetting as a grooming, I’d think. She’s right in his wheelhouse. -
Sorry, "Ms." Ballsy Ford. You believed her, and feel no empathy for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. I take no issue with that, though I think you're wrong. I think she fabricated a story, played the system for political gain, and when Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh drew a line in the sand, she went away back to Scumbagville. Thankfully, Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed, and in some small way my voice was heard and my vote mattered. Ms. Ballsy Ford is my enemy, not unlike the Iranian government, Bernie Sanders and the Shamwow guy from days past. Thanks for the update on the soda choice of nefarious accusers. I find them interchangeable, and as such I'm not much of a brand loyalist.
-
I don't care if you believe Ballsy Ford or not, it's irrelevant. Some will believe, others will not. The point was originally about "tribalism" and divisiveness. You do however make my point that if this is the new political landscape, then it is what it is. Borque got Borqued, Thomas got Pepsi canned, Kavanaugh is the rape train guy, and so on. We might as well keep playing. Brett Kavanaugh is another American hero. They tried to assassinate him and destroy his family and he told the dems, Ballsy Ford and everyone else to #@!! a $#@@. Most people don't have that depth of character, but he did. There's a trend here. Oh...you never answered my question on name calling and lost arguments. Maybe you forgot?
-
What I mean is pretty simple. If labeling a man a predator, a deviant and the lead engineer of a rape train only raises to the level of "bad" politics in your mind, then it should be a tactic used by all. If the vast majority of the public sees it as such, then there is no reason not to have an endless media freak show on every nominee. When the next female candidate is nominated, something "bad" should be expected. You mentioned your daughter, I indicated i have one, also have two sons. It's not just that I would hate to see any of them treated as BK was by Pelosi, Harris, Schumer, Biden, et al--to see their lives destroyed, reputations in ruins, having to explain to their own children "No honey, no I never participated in a gang rape, that's just what people say when they disagree with you politically". It's that I would hate to see it happen to Sotamayer, Ginzburg and everyone else. I have a pretty basic rule. If they will do it to XXX, they'll do it to me. Or you. Or one of your daughters. It transcends bad.
-
Fascinating, really, to me. Comparing a nomination that died on the vine due to political processes ( legal and acceptable) to branding a man a sexual predator and the lead party on a rape train....wow. What the dems and their voters did to BK is beyond shameful. And to be completely honest, if what happened there is only "bad", then it might as well be mainstream. If you as a conservative leaning independent see it as such, the next liberal nominee should, and unfortunately must be treated in kind. The worse the unsubstantiated rumor or allegation is, the better. When it falls apart, after a man probably a lot like you who loves his daughters as much as you has been gutted on a national stage because of his political views, we can all lament that it was "bad". When a smart and ambitious female works hard and grows up to have an opportunity to sit on the Supreme Court, and some political operative comes out and accuses her of performing oral sex on a child in her care when a babysitter at age 16, we can all think...gee, too bad, buy wtf, shes a lib.
