i never saw redzone as an option on the mix?  Plus didnt see redzone as a view available.  Next time not watching Bills game will check that.  Overall I was impressed it worked much better than suspected it would.   I do miss tuning my DVR to the channel and watching the specific pregame on say Bilsl channel especially when they break away to that specific game pregame stuff.   Will miss that but lately been listening more to Sirius Bills feed pregame than in the past.

I haven't watched a pre or post-game show in years. I find the availability of content so ubiquitous that it makes the pre-game shows irrelevant.

Exactly the point. It’s rarely about the size of the player. Instinct and technique go a long way.

Jason Kelce is probably 280lbs going up against 325lbs DTs and he wins almost every rep.

Yet at the same time, many fans on this thread have concluded that Bernard cannot be a good MLB because of his size. His size "could" be a factor, but we won't know that until he's played a few games. Who knows, perhaps instinct, technique, and athleticism will win out.

Lets paint a clear picture here.

Thus far, the scouting report looks pretty accurate.

Bernard play light, can't shed blocks well, doesn't fit well into a MLB role, and has shown nothing thus far to think he's a quality starter. Correct me if I'm wrong.

He was a projected 5th round pick and a project. Beane reached and the pick was a head scratcher then and now.

In short, I get the optimism and of course he could blossom; maybe into the next Lawrence Taylor. Let's dream big!

It's NOT optimism, it's let's see how he plays a game or two before you call him a bust.  This rush to condemn a player who has a decent pedigree is just so weird.

What in your right mind makes you think he's competent?

He played 45 plays in 7 games last year. He was pretty much a liability out there.

All you have is that he's young and can improve. But that kind of goes by the waste side too because he wasn't very good in college either.

Come on now let's get honest here. The guy is nowhere near starting caliber. We fans have to hold out breath and hope he doesn't blow up the defense.

I can't tell if this is a troll job but just in case . . .

45 plays is 15-30 less than an average full game of defensive snaps.  Moreover, he took those snaps over their first seven games, which is not an adequate measure of a player's ability.

As for your college analysis, it seems you forgot to mention he was a team captain, twice second-team Big 12, once first-team Big 12, and MVP of the Sugar Bowl.

I said it’s one of the reasons.  The main reason being he’s better outside causing having.  He played mostly strong side, not weak.  But being 222 and a starting mlb isn’t ideal.  Hence “one of the reasons”.

playing LB isn’t strictly tackling.  They have to take on blocks and not get steam rolled.  When Bernard puts some of that on tape in the nfl, I’ll be a believer.

I’m not saying he won’t be good “solely” because of his size.  But it has looked to be a problem during his small sample size in the nfl to date from my eye.

I think you might be underestimating the affect strength can have on a LBs success or lack thereof in the nfl.  Maybe Bernard is much stronger than he looks.  But I think he’s going to get rolled vs the run.  Surely hope that I’m wrong.  I’m rooting the the kid big time. If he can play and play well, our d will be legit legit

The key point here is we don't know anything until Bernard's snap count is large enough to make a rational evaluation. Too many here seem to have prejudged Bernard before he's had any significant playing time. However, when so many fans disliked to hated Edmunds, there's little reason to believe there'll ever be any kind of consensus.

And that’s one of the reasons that’s that Milano isn’t a middle linebacker….

Roquon weighs 236.  Bernard is 222.  How is that slightly lighter?  And Bernard doesn’t look any bigger than he did last year.  Put on 14 LBs of muscle and tell me you’re slightly heavier afterwards.  And “slightly” stronger.  Roquon is much stronger, takes on blocks much better and has advanced instincts.  Did I meantion he has 14 more

    pounds of muscle than Bernard.

that’s why people disliked your post.  I wasn’t even one of them, but it’s obvious to me why they disliked it

Milano doesn't play Middle Linebacker because of size, it's because of temperament and skillset. Nearly every decent Bills expert says that Milano doesn't have the personality for MLB and the team would never force him to play out of his natural WLB.

As for size, a player 6% lighter can easily be a better tackler than those bigger than him.  As for whether Bernard WILL be a good linebacker has yet to be determined, but it won't be due soley to his size (or supposed lack of it).

Could care less what Google has their weight at, there is no chance he's bigger than Milano. Bernard looks more like a WR than a LB.

So your "evidence" is a picture on the internet where the players are not standing next to each other, but you're quick to dismiss the measurables reported on team official websites?  Good one.

Bernard is terrible. He's undersized and for being so you would expect him to be super athletic which he's not. If he would have played in the preseason we would have all seen that. I definitely don't like the idea of them experimenting with him in a live game. This is going to be bad. Hopefully Kirksey will be available but I doubt it

Bernard is not undersized. He's bigger than Milano and slightly lighter than Roquan Smith.

Ugghhhhh who didn't see this coming?

The truly great NFL GM's in this league know when to move on from aging veterans and it was a massive mistake bringing back all these guys, especially at their current contracts.

This is why I predict that Rapp will supplant Hyde or Poyer as starter sooner than later so I guess give Beane credit for that contingency plan.

    Panic much?

really the big question is Miller. If he’s not “that guy” the roster has gone backwards. If he’s full go 110% come December and no other catastrophic injuries I feel much better this year,

pass rush will just be so huge in our defense holding things together

offense will always have us as a contender with Josh here but pass rush is the gap between elite and very good for the next ten years (assuming 1-2 playmakers on the offense with Josh)

I guess, but other than QB, there is rarely one player that defines a season.

As for pass rush, I think the line has just as much variance with Rosseau, Floyd, Oliver et al. If they play at a higher level under McDermott's schemes, then the Bills don't have to depend on Miller's heroics. And if they don't play at a higher level, then an outstanding Miller may not make a significant difference.

It's truly a team game, and it takes nearly every position playing well, week after week. Which is why it's so hard to win the Super Bowl.

I am well over 50 and have been a Bills fan since 1963. ( my first memory of watching the Bills with my family)

Like all of us, I want that Super Bowl win do much.  Since the "13 seconds"  debacle it seem like the Bills are moving further away from being a contender.

If well over 50, just enjoy it. There is literally nothing you can do.

As for the "13 seconds," what can you do? Doesn't mean they would have won the Super Bowl and you probably would be saying something similar.

I truly believe this is a better team and if most things go right, they can be win it all. If not, I'll be devastated but life goes on.

It would also help to look at the history of preseason Super Bowl odds. Even the "experts" are usually 🤷‍♂️

  12. "I just think that our team is weaker than last year." - You may want to compare the two rosters.

"With all the pundants saying the Bills window is closing," - You probably spend too much time listening to the wrong pundits.

I don't know how old you are, but for those over 50, this could be our greatest time to be a Bills fan. So enjoy every second because it may not be this good for quite a while.
