  1. I don't know Monos, I don't know if he's "right" and/or has an axe to grind, so all the comments should be taken with a grain of salt.

No team is perfect but it's clear the Bills are a Top 3 team, and could have won the Super Bowl each of the past few years. That doesn't happen by accident, and while the Bills have come up short, it seems counter productive to just point out flaws in a team.

I'm not here to shill for Beane, but he has a great record.

He's built a outstanding offense, developed a HOF QB, has an outstanding OL, terrific RBs, some very good receivers and TEs.

On defense, Beane has brought in and drafted many very good players at Safety, LB, and CB. Two All-Pros and many pro-bowl caliber players. The downside is that the DL hasn't gelled. It happens, but it's not for lack of trying.

It's very difficult to be great at every position at the same time. Injuries, age, personalities, etc. all play a part. Eagles and Chiefs have their flaws as well, sometimes you can overcome, but there are too many variables to say that Bean and Company don't have what it takes to win a Super Bowl

Cut the season in half so guys might care at least a little bit. Too many games means they don’t matter very much. It will never happen ($$$), but if you go watch the Cav’s play in Charlotte on a Tuesday night in January the lack of effort can jump out at you. It jumped out to my son in the first couple minutes. “They’re not even trying!” Yep. I don’t even watch the NBA Finals anymore.

They'll never reduce games, but I think this is the best answer.

Teams often play every other day for weeks on end, with the occasional back to back road games, and then three games in four days. Just brutal.

About two thirds the way through the season the games are often sluggish as players are just worn out.

By the end of the season, the good teams are able to rest players, cut down on minutes and get ready for the playoffs. All others are tired by the time they get to the postseason, making rest a an important factor in a series.

  3. I don't like receiving gifts. I don't need anything and don't want anyone spending money on me.  I'd rather go out to dinner with them.

The nightmare is receiving a gift you can't hide. Picture frames (or worse, with a bad picture), art, anything subjective, books (I have a library of yet-to-be-read books, and now they'll ask how I liked the gift I would never have bought). My wife and I have a rule where we provide a short list of very specific items. Usually something I wouldn't normally buy for myself.

I probably have anxiety over gift giving on the assumption others feel the same way.

  4. I will say, "not really" surprised.  Fans of other teams probably feel the same was about Allen and the Bills offense than we do about 3rd and Short when competing against Mahomes and Jackson. Your gut tells you they will get the first down because they are so difficult to defend.  Man or zone?  How to defend against the QB run or scramble?  It's such a dangerous down, especially now that KC, Ravens and Bills may go for a 4th and short on their own side of the field.

I think most teams almost "concede" a third and short to avoid getting pasted by game breaking play.  2nd and Short is even more of a nightmare.

  5. Injured Reserve

    Could be back December 1:

    - Matt Milano

    - DeWayne Carter

    - Tylan Grable

    Could be back December 15:

    - Baylon Spector

    - DeWayne Smoot

If all come back, who moves off the roster?

    - Milano > Open Roster Spot?

    - DeWayne Carter > Quinton Jefferson/?

    - Grable > Clapp

    - Baylon Spector > Andreessen

    - DeWayne Smoot > Toohill?

If all are back, who are the likely inactive?

    - Grable

    - Ulofoshio

    - Elam

    - Gouraige?

    - Davidson

  6. If he's fired, I wouldn't oppose returning Shoen to the Bills front office.

I was never a Jones fan, but I understand why they resigned him. The subsequent injuries made the borderline decent QB into a below-replacement-level washout. It was partially lousy luck, but Schoen was also stuck with a QB he didn't draft and maybe wasn't thrilled to keep. Critically, Shoen missed on several Olinemen and then didn't trade away Barkley and several others they didn't seem interested in resigning.

Despite his failings, the 2024 draft class is pretty good. There's talent on the team, and they'll have high draft picks and a lot of cap space.

  7. Joe Mario does a great job and while a huge fan, he’s not a homer and will tell it like it is. While it’s great he’s on six days a week, so there is a bit of excessive content creation to fill the time, though that can be excused.

Also a big fan of Joe Buscaligia. I like him for all the same reasons. He’s a big Bills fan but very objective and has a knack for unique insights. He only does a game recap and one preview - both are very well-done.

I’ve cut back on many of the shows. I like Matt Parinno but that show can have too much homer-ism and not a lot of fresh insight.

Cover 1 is just too much. They are very knowledgeable but tend to overdo it and rarely admit they were wrong. They are also huge homers.

IMO, Bruce Nolan is a MUCH better guest than as a host. As a guest he can be pressed to explain his opinions but on his own can be was too esoteric and cutesy. The best show was when he teamed up with “Nick” (?) who was a great straight man to Bruce’s philosophizing.

  8. No trade. Chances are Benford or Douglas will miss a few games. Kair is the new Dane Jackson (with all the caveats).

Moreover, Devin might not be any better than less talented players who are bought into McDermott's system.
