  1. Not sure if I follow you here. I'm saying the Bills will most likely be 6-10 with #9 pick. Does it get any more real? Another Overcast day with a few glimpses of sunshine breaking through the clouds.
  2. Whats interesting about this, is that most people would feel that the Bills being in a position to draft Andrew Luck is a sunny day. If anyone thinks the 2011 Bills are going to the playoffs, well I don't think thats optimism, I think thats delusional.
  3. Jack Locker was 5-7 his junior with a 58% completion percentage and 21TDs and 11 Ints did pretty much the same thing his Senior year 6-6 55% completion percentage 17TDs and 9 INts with a Bowl win. So if Luck does the same thing that Locker did, have pretty much the same performance and get two more wins. Then Luck would be coming off a season where he led his team to winning the National Championship and would be without a doubt the #1 overall pick.
  4. If the Bills have the #1 overall when Andrew Luck comes out, you take Andrew Luck, or you trade the pick for the entire draft class of a team 1-7 (and probably a few picks the next year) a la the Ricky Williams trade. There will be multiple teams lining up to make that trade. The smarter play would be to take Luck and trade Gabbert for a 2nd.
  5. Minnesota doesn't have a 3rd this year.
  6. 1.) who doesn't look good at their pro day? The whole event is designed to make a universities' alumni look good. 2.) I can't figure out if Kaepernik is Tony Pike, John Skelton , or Dan LeFevour.
  7. I'm putting this list in my list of lists as "Plainly one man's opinions presented as an authoritative opinion using completely unmeasurable categories however seems to be on to so something" list
  8. You are right on with this. Given the 30+ page "All you need is Defense" thread in January I think we've all seen enough arguing of the relevance of that strategy.
  9. This is revisionist history and untrue. In April of 2009 there may have been people clamoring for Locker. This time last year Jake Locker completed a 5-7 season where he had 21TDs, 11Int and 58% completion percentage. He did not "disappointed" his Senior Year. He actually had pretty much the same season with 2 more wins 6-6 a Bowl game 17TDs 9Ints and a 55% completion percentage. He is just not good he has less than a career .300 winning percentage in college as a starter (yeah everyone at Washington was horrible with Jake Locker the lone exception for some reason.) and 20 Wonderlic with huge accuracy issues. If his name was Lake Jocker he wouldn't be in contention for an UDFA contract.
  10. It would have to be a top 10 to get Jordan. No matter many mocks have him in the teens, dude will be a top10 pick, you take that two the bank. I'm in favor of almost any tradedown where we get Top 15, an additional second and it would probably have to be 2 more mid round picks either in 2011 or 2012, JJ Watt should be there from 10-15.
  11. The best at checkdowns? I give you Bledsoe but lets not get carried away with General Checkdown. 1 out of 3. I think McElroy is going to be the next Jessie Palmer, dude is money infront of a camera, breaking down a game, this is not a joke. I've seen him twice and he has the camera presence of a seasoned, professional studio host. If the Bills don't take a QB in the first 5 rounds I wouldn't hate a 6th or 7th flyer on McElroy. Wonderlic Twins activate!
  12. I respectly disagree. I believe you're missing the point, the point of drafting QBs is not minimizing risk. Its Maximizing potential. You can get a caretaker QB off the street. A Super Bowl Wining, Franchise QB is the goal of a 1st round and especially a Top10 QB pick. BTW Jim Kelly had 31TDs and 28 INTs at University of Miami and had 55% completion percentage so he can be 5/7 on the Parcell criteria Tops. http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/jim-kelly-1.html
  13. Right you are. Who has a good history of drafting QBs? Was Brees and Rivers drafted by the same management team?
  14. The Proposed rule change is that "the QBs head can not be moved when contact is made." It seems to be universally hated by the coaches. I think the vote happens this week. If Minnesota is offering #12, #43, #105 and additional 2/3rd in 2012 it would be a no brainer for the Bills to take that. One thing to remember is Minnesota already traded their 3rd for Moss (worst trade in NFL history.) So the Vikes would take their QB then not pick again until the 5th. On a team that has a huge number of free agents leaving. The Vikes went all in 2010 and now they are pretty much rebuilding. I don't think they're likely to trade their 2011 draft picks when they have huge needs and a new coaching staff needs "their guys."
  15. Yeah Because Parcells is a master of drafting QBs. Are Drew Bledsoe, Chad Pennington, and Chad Henne really the aim of a team with a Top 10 pick? Obviously Parcells is a legend, but I'd rather hear Bill Pollian's criteria. Jim Kelly, Kerry Collins, and Peyton Manning is much more impressive.
  16. I hoping one of those tackles falls out of the first. Right now it's looking like Sherrod, I've seen him out of the 1st in a few mocks so far. I'd be a no brainer if Sherrod were there at #34.
  17. The Link goes back to TwoBillsDrive.com I think this is the link you meant to post: http://www.buffalosportsdaily.com/source-bills-remain-very-high-on-cameron-jordan/ Based on Bills draft history of taking the guy, that everyone calls a "reach" I fully expect Cam Jordan to be the pick. If it happens, I also fully expect this is to be the first time in a long time that the Bills get it right. Cam Jordan is not going to be a sack master, but he will be a pocket collapser with a High Motor. Paired with Kyle Williams you have 2 guys like that on the D-Line that require atleast 3 Offensive lineman's attention and probably a TE to help as well. It will allow the Moats, Poz and the LBs we draft in the 2nd and 3rd round to make plays. Yes Marcell Dareaus, and Fairely maybe better pure talent but we're splitting hairs here in the Top10. Neither Dareaus or Fairely have it upstairs in the mental department like Cameron Jordan. Cam Jordan is entering the draft after completing is Senior year, was a team captain at Cal, and has NFl bloodlines. He is a Buddy Nix kinda guy if there ever were one in my opinion. Get to know this possible future Buffalo Bill before you push the "reach" button. Think of this way. What are the risks associated with Bowers, Quinn, Fairely & Dareaus? What are the risks associated with Cameron Jordan? For a team that needs a sure thing, Cameron Jordan looks to me as the closest you can get to a sure thing, and that is never a "reach." I put this in the other thread about Cam Jordan to help people get familiar with this guy:
  18. Wait I thought all you knew was Seattle is going to take Jake Locker at #25, I guess you don't know that anymore. You won't put your money where you mouth is, and you keep talking about Cam Newton for some reason. You seem obsessed with Newton. Is it because you secretly want to be an entertainer and an icon? You never got your chance to be an icon and now you're jeoulous? Your non stop discussion of Cam Newton doesn't seem healthy.
  19. He is in the discussion at #3. Who says he isn't?
  20. Here is that video: Jake Locker, Barkley, Foles, and Andrew Luck all make guest appearances. This is also a good one: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-combine/09000d5d81e8001e/Cameron-Jordan-talks-to-press Wouldn't you love hearing how "he loved hitting Brady and hearing the wind come out of his chest" after the first Bills win over the Pats in almost a decade. He is a top 10 player no doubt. Yes it will be a "reach" but he just seems like a Buddy Nix kind of guy to me. This guy can be the face of the franchise.
  21. 1.) You called me a Newton Lover, Meaning that you have read previous posts and somehow interpreted my posts as love for Newton. I was simply stating that I did not Love Newton but that the statements filling the pinned Newton post, especially in the beginning before Mayock specifically stated that there is no worry about Newton's ability to throw, were foolish. 2.) No one is talking about Newton except you, you brought it up originally and continue to beat this drum for some reason. Continue with your Master Debating skills. You won't take the bet because you are a blow-hard that adds zero value to this board. You can't back up your statements with logic or reasoning and when someone calls you to task you start talking about Newton or some other non topic nonsense. I don't need to listen to Locker's excuses. I watched him play. If you think throwing the ball away when he is under pressure is his major problem you really don't get it. Nope Wonderlic still matters. You know how I know? Because actual GM's are weary of drafting a QB with a low Wonderlic and on top of that the last 8 Super Bowl winning QBs had an average over 30. The average Wonderlic of all the starting QB's in the NFL in 2010 was 28. So kudos for Marino but Wonderlic still matter. By the way how many Super Bowls did Marino and Kelly win? Now I remember why you are one of only two people I have on my ignore list. Thanks for the reminder.
  22. Great simile. There are tons of kids that can throw heat, if Locker is struggling with accuracy after 4 years in the minors, and on top of that, in shorts and T-Shirt can hit a target 20 yards out (see Skills competition.) You really have to worry.
  23. 1.) I do not love the Entertainer and Icon, I just think that the blowhard statements that Newton can't throw are complete nonsense, Newton has Steve McNair type of potential. 2.) Notice I said "when it comes to drafting QBs." with regard to Casserly 3.) Mike Mayock had Jimmy Clausen as the #17 overall prospect last year. Just sayin' when it comes to QBs the Talking heads talk like they know but most are without a history of accurately assessing what actual NFL decision makers do on draft day when it comes to QBs. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story?id=09000d5d817695a5&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true You need to watch the games to assess Locker and I honestly don't see how anyone that saw this guy crumble play after play and lose game after game would want him wearing Red, White & Buffalo Blue ever unless they want the Bills to continue to lose. This may be the case as there are some sad sacks on here that only seem to be happy when the team is disarray. Locker has a better chance to make it at H-Back than QB in the NFL. If you're so confident that Seattle is going to take Locker why not put your money where your mouth? I'll put up a $100 that Locker is not drafted in the first 25 picks. BTW what was Red Grange's wonderlic?
  24. That sad thing is a consensus poll on TBD would have been a better at draft decisions than the FO of OBD the last 10 years.
