is Justin Blackmon worth moving up to get?
1B4IDie replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buddy Nix has been pretty clear that he isn't trading up. -
I think the fact that Blackmon is 6'0" and closer to Michael Crabtree than Calvin Johnson isn't lost on the Lambs. There are 4 Top OTs and there are not huge delta, outside Kalil. Then Floyd is arguably more AJ Green than Michael Crabtree. Plus Tampa may not take Claiborne, Either way I think St. Louis is set. Plus the 2nd and two years in a row of 2 1sts. I think they'll be A-OK.

I'm not sure what you mean. Sam Acho, was DE/LB Tweener. He could stand up in a 3-4 and put his hand down in a 4-3 front, perfect for a "hybrid defense". He won the "Academic Heisman" in 2011, He had a 4 year career at Texas. The smart, physical, senior pedigree that Nix looks for. I was banging the gong for him Sam Acho all season. He fell perfectly in our lap in the 4th round. He would have been able to take the reigns from Merriman when he went down, and with the switch back to a 4-3 he is great for a pass rushing D-End, which is what he did for the second half of the season for the Cardinals. His brother Emmanuel Acho is in the 2012 draft. I like him but not as much. He is not as much a tweener as Sam is, he is more of a LB, some project him as an ILB, but I think he still will be OLB I just don't know if he can be a DE. Just saying you can find a backup safety in the CB trash heap. Its hard to find Pass rushing talent, hence the Bills current predicament. Are you saying you wish that wouldn't have made the pick, because it is possible that having a productive pass rusher would mean the Bills might stay will Edwards and the 3-4 hybrid?

I'm pretty sure that's the plan. Don't get me started on that Searcy pick. The kid might be a good player but there were pass rushers available last year at that pick that are better than Ingram or Coples. THE 2011 DRAFT was deep for pass rushing and we let them all get by us. That was the pick to get our starting DE thus year. You can sign an old CB for depth at safety its a much easier position to fill.

All Peyton Manning, all the time!
1B4IDie replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't discount Tebow leaving CAA in the offseason. The best stop for Manning might be Denver. John Fox has the Defense playing well. Manning can resume his role as OC/QB, Mike McCoy's job would be do essentially what Manning tells you to do. Demarius Thomas, Decker & Royal is a nice WR squad. McGahee can still get the tough yards, (its not like a manning offense hands the ball off much) The O-Line is pretty solid. No conflicting offensive "genius" like in Miami. The Broncos made the playoffs without him, The AFC West is pretty weak (even though it was close there were no dominate teams.) Denver immediately become AFC Super Bowl favorites if the defense plays the same. Elway would love to get rid of Tebow and get a real QB. -
I'm sure. Its definitive.

They have those in the 2nd through 7th rounds too.

You're not alone. It is really really really strange. I don't understand the fascination some people have with "overpaying." The team is way under the cap. The last thing the Bills have to worry about is the Salary Cap. Its misguided, misinformed, and did I mention strange? I just completely ignore all that nonsense.

Johnny Hammerstick's Mock Draft
1B4IDie replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Which ties directly to people assuming he was 6'2' then finding out he was listed at 6'0" then measuring 5'11". I think you're being sarcastic but I'll bite anyway . . . You may not have heard that Blackmon measured 6'0" at the combine. I've been saying all along he is more Michael Crabtree than Andre Johnson. Michael Crabtree was the most dominating college Football WR at the time. The lack of height is proving to prevent that type of dominance in the NFL. Don't get me wrong Crabtree and Blackmon are talented but not the "uncovered when they're covered type of receiver" the BiLls and I want. -
4 FA signings that could cost between 20-25 mill a year
1B4IDie replied to Jrock6986's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was injured for part of the time on the Lambs. I don't think anyone in the NFL is planning to offer him 7.5M a season. I think 5M a season will be wear he signs. He has essentially been in "a contract year" for the last two years. I don't believe he has a lazy, work ethic issue, but thats for Buddy and other GMs to determine. -
Johnny Hammerstick's Mock Draft

The guy out combined AJ Green. and has a great resume in Nortre Dame. If he didn't have the DUI issues he would be a concusses Top5 pick. This talent doesn't grow on trees. If this pick happened. Everyone on this board would whine and moan about a pass rush but by Week 3 2013 most of the Stadium would be wearing Floyd jerseys. He is a freak, if he can keep his drinking in check. Almost getting kicked out of school might have opened up his eyes. Its up to Nix an GMs around the NFL to make that determination. Talent wise, if he is there at #10, he would be hand down the Best Player Available. Wouldn't even be a close second place. -

I've seen a lot of Robinson play because of Fantasy Football. I thought he would have clicked when he was on the Rams, but it didn't happen. He looked great on the Cowgirls. He started as an injury replacement then the 4th option, as teams focused on Austin (when back) Bryant (when Back) and Witten and was open and took advantage of it. By the end of the season teams were keying on Robinson and he was still performing. He would be a great fit with SJ13, Nelson, Chandler, FJAX & Spiller coming out of the backfield. I would love a Robinson signing, Garcon I'm not as impressed with, although he did look good with Painter and Orlovsky. I wouldn't hate a Garcon signing I'd just fear that he might not perform as well. Either way Garcon or Robinson is a huge upgrade to The Ghost of Easely\Donald Jones\CJ Spiller\Ruvell Martin\Naaman Rossevelt And more importantly would solidify the #10 pick as one of the Top 4 OT. -
And this point cannot be undervalued. The Locker Room is filled with 7th rounders and UDFA RIGHT NOW. The lesson to everyone, From our 1st Rounders that under perform to our Practice Squad signings that over perform, is simple. IF YOU PRACTICE HARD AND YOU PERFORM WELL ON THE FIELD YOU WILL GET PAID IN BUFFALO, NY. Where this was not true in the past the locker room knows they can get rewarded for their efforts and thats all a player, especially a late round pick or UDFA can ask for. This is a huge change in direction for the Buffalo Bills. :w00t:

Good. That means there is no shot it will happen. The only picks Kiper got correct in the Top 10 in 2011 was Cam Newton, AJ Green and where Julio Jones was picked. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/675649-2011-nfl-mock-draft-mel-kiper-vs-todd-mcshay-who-got-it-right

I hate the OPs FA list. I hope we sign 0 of those players. I like Doc's list much better. I hope we sign 3 of those players. -

One way to look at it is, If he played as well as he did with bone spur that had him walking awkward for more than a year. Imagine how well he will play when he doesn't have to walk funny. -

or because it can be edited by ANYONE (and actually not all pages can be edited by ANTONE some are protected to authenticated users) it has more potential to be correct than ESPN or the AP, as people tend to correct mistakes as they are found.

Yes. I am sure that the defensive coordinators around the league are waking up in Cold sweats because Alex Carrington is listed as a DT and Chris White is at OLB. The LB positions will work out through OTAs (Are they allowed to do OTAs under the new CBA?) and training camp. Plus with a fresh batch of FAs and Rookies there will be a lot of movement. The LBs most likely won't be completely settled until Week 4 of the regular season, if that, then injuries. Its going to be a very dynamic depth chart. As long as we get some help at DE. The LBs will settle themselves out. They lose some of the focus now that we're going back to a 4-3.
-
Yes because the only indication of success in the NFL is where you were drafted when you were 21 or 22 years old, not what you do after you were drafted.
-
Get Michael Floyd in the 1st. Floyd, Johnson, Nelson and a TE (hopefully Chandler) and you have a sick WR core with a backfield of Spiller and FJax. The offense skill positions are actually pretty bad ass. The interior of line is strong and if Harriston can develop as a LT then line is pretty solid. Then draft 2 DEs 2 LBs, Maybe a 4th round O-line, a DB and a TE Thats 8 picks. We get 1 more for a wildcard BPA.
