Hillary thinking about dropping out of 2008?
JimBob2232 replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I bet you got that from Drudge.... No way can it be true. Drudge only reports lies. -
Damn. I am really starting to like this kid. Didnt watch alot of the preseason games, but I look forward to seeing him on the field this year.
-
If you got Gonzo in the 7th, that is a steal. I thought you probably reached a bit for him when i read your team up top, but I guess not. Ya know, I like your team. Not too shabby. I'm not as sold on Trent Green as much as some others this year. If I were you, I'd drop Brad Johnson and pick up a guy with large potential upside (i.e. Losman, V.Young, Rivers, Alex Smith, Frye, Kitna...or even Cutler). Put a flyer out on one of those guys and see if you hit Gold. If you dont, chances are Brad Johnson will be there to pick up later. Still hate 2 PKs and DEF. Wasted picks IMO. (Same with QB3...but in your case i think its warranted). Also hate Bubba Franks this year. Now that I have ripped it apart....the LJ2 and SJAX are a good combo in the backfield. I'd like to see a top 10WR in a 10 team league. You have good depth, so what you give up at WR1, i think you make up in the other WR slots. Prediction : 3/10. Due to lack of a top 10 WR and QB.
-
Correct. Once he has cleared waivers, he is essentially a Free Agent and can sign anywhere. Once he signs on to a practice squad somewhere, the only way he can go somewhere else is to a) be cut or b) be signed to another teams active roster.
-
A fairly reputible poster over at KFFL has reported that Nance will sign with the Vikings PS, assuming he is not offered a roster spot elsewhere. Granted this post is of the "I talked to him" variety, so take it for what its worth...

Maybe some folks claimed that moulds had no trade value, but he was still a productive #1 WR in a league with a shortage of WRs in the offseason where things are very dynamic. Holcomb is a QB who has never shown much of anything (save a game here or there), couldnt win a starting job over JP Losman (time will tell what that says about him) and quite possibly coulndt even win a backup job over Nall. Team Rosters are set. If a starter goes down, thats why teams have backups. Even if a team traded for holcomb mid-season, he would be coming in not knowing the playbook and be way behind the eight ball. Its just not going to happen. Maybe next offseason (if holcomb is still under contract...i dont know). We might be able to squeeze a 4th or 5th for him. But not until then.

"johnny you played great!!!! Everyone is so proud of you buddy.....personally i still think your a fag but no seriuosly ....your gay...............great game tty soon" Awsome... Also like the madden covers. Ya know, part of me feels like I am getting a little too personal with guys when i see stuff like this, but then again, it humanizes them enough to the point you care alot more. Congrats John. Hope to see you in buffalo for many years.

Only 5 games week 3. They will show Pit/Cin in HD. My guess is the other 2 games are going to be Ind/Jax and either Buf/NYJ or Cle/Bal. Week 7 is a possiblity as well. Unfortunatly I dont see many 2nd half games in HD for us. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHRE CBS

Trying to make a trade for P. Manning
JimBob2232 replied to Phlegm Alley's topic in Fantasy Football
Lets assume Payton throws for 4000 yds and 32 TDs. And gets no other points. In a 6 pts per TD league PM=22 Pts Per Game (using your yardage formula) In a 4 pts per TD league PM=18 Pts Per Game (using your yardage formula) Yes, he is still the best QB out there...but all QBs are signifigantly discounted in this scoring system. PM is not worthy of a first round pick (and maybe even a 2nd round pick). He is probably equivalent in value to a lower 2nd tier RB. (i.e. Droughns, McGahee, Dunn, etc). But anyone who drafted him is sure to want much more than that. For my money, its just not worth it. Go find a 2nd tier QB (if you arent satisfied with mcnabb). Hasselbeck, Delhomme, Eli, these guys should be much cheaper and not that much worse than Peyton. And I am not sure how you could even start to think about trading for PM without including either LT or RB. You offer Frank Gore and Donald Driver and he will laugh you out of the building. -
Some Interesting Cuts Already
JimBob2232 replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A change of scenery may do Rogers well. Probably a better fit with a stronger head coach than Juron. But certainly his potential and size would be welcomed. However we dont have room on the roster to waste hoping he can resurect his career. Aiken vs. Rogers...gotta keep aiken. -
Trying to make a trade for P. Manning
JimBob2232 replied to Phlegm Alley's topic in Fantasy Football
Some Options 1) LT for Peyton and Rudi 2) Ronnie Brown for Peyton Personally, in a 4 pt per TD league, I wouldnt worry about Peyton. If you could swing a good deal for Eli I'd be more interested. Peyton loses alot of value in 4pt TDs -
My very first fantasy draft, how does it look?
JimBob2232 replied to HeadInTheClouds's topic in Fantasy Football
Well....I'd actually suggest to hold onto all 3 for now.... All 3 are around the same level IMO. See which one (if any) step up and produce. I cant imagine any real trade value for them, but they would be gobbled up rather quickly if released. I didnt mean to imply that QB was a real weak spot. In fact you have really good depth here and you can certainally win with these guys. If this WERE the weak spot, you would be okay. Like I said though, nothing is written in stone after the draft. Keep your eye open. Per my QB Rankings: 11 Green 14 Bledsoe 18 Brees -
RBs need a little to be desired, but you have Williams and Foster, so you should be set with at least one spot. Droughns and Lundy should work out fairly well. A little help and you are sitting pretty. Prediction 2/10. Nice Draft. What you lose in production at the RB slots, you more than make up with QB and WR depth.
-
I'm on board with your first 2 picks..but who was selected in the 3rd round? This is where I think you stumbled. You are lacking a QB and a #1 WR. You got pretty good depth and looks like you did very well in the later rounds. But not spending pick #3 wisely is keeping you out of the top tier of the league IMO. Prediction: 5 out of 10

My very first fantasy draft, how does it look?
JimBob2232 replied to HeadInTheClouds's topic in Fantasy Football
Rookie Mistake : Lots of players on your favorite team Average QBs: Certianly nothing exciting here... No depth at RB. Might have 4 starters...but likely will have just 2. WRs are average. Interesting that none of them are the #1 WRs on their team. But still, not a terrible group. Who is playing the flex slot? Your choices right now are Jurevicious/Addai/Haynes. Need to fix that. QUICK! You will get crushed at this position. TE: Royal? Seriously? Bubba Franks could be good, but more than likely he will go on to be an injured washed up tight end with a quarterback who is frustrated. I predict you will finish 8th in a 10 man league. But remember, this is fantasy football. If you gobbled up gado last year, or Goings the year before you would be all set. Watch the waiver wire like a hawk. You can do fine. -
IDP draft throws me off some. Thoughts 1) Too many question mark guys. Guys who could be good if healthy or productive, but just as easily could be unhealthy or unproductive. (I.e. Portis, Warner, Taylor, Deuce, Gore, L. White, etc.). Makes for a high probabilty of Boom or Bust season. 2) Dont think you took Witten too early, but I do think you reached on Warner. Especially since you grabbed Cullpepper 5 rounds later and he will likely be your starter. 3) Always hate to see 2 kickers taken. You will wind up dropping one after the bye week of your starting kicker anyway...so you are only looking at one week out of your backup. Even the worst kicker in the league should be an adaquate fill-in for that one week. Minor flaw though. 4) You waited a long time to get your IDPs....might be the scoring system. I dont know. No real comment here, except it seems odd. All in all, I think you have a decent team. If your questionable guys turn out healthy and productive, I think you will wind up in the top 3. My prediction: 4th out of 10.

JP Losman trade looking better and better

And the alternative would have been to get Aaron Rogers the next draft....not looking like that pick would have been any better. -
http://www.tonawanda-news.com/buffalobills...=secondarystory BILL DOSE: AFL kicker to meet with Bills By Jay Skurski Greater Niagara Newspapers Salverio Rocca, a star kicker with the Kangaroos of the Australian Football League, has his sights set on America, and in particular, the Buffalo Bills. According to the Australian Associated Press, Rocca will play his last game with the Kangaroos this week, then head to the U.S., where he’ll meet with the Bills and possibly one other NFL team. Rocca hopes to follow in the footsteps of AFL players Darren Bennett and Ben Graham, who became NFL punters.

Time Warner needs to make a business decision. 1) Lose subscribers because they do not have NFL Network or 2) Lose subscribers because their rates went up to cover the increased expenses from the NFL Network. Time Warner is a business. They are in business to make money. Apparently TW thinks option 3 is the best. Keep all non-nfl consumers happy by keeping their rates (relatively) low, and offer a special package for those who opt to pay a little more to recieve. Frankly, there are plenty of options in this market these days, so let your wallet do the talking. And if you think DirecTV is any better you are kidding yourself. Sure, they offer NFL Network on standard packages. You still have to pay extra for HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, HDTV, Sports packages, etc. etc. Same concept.

My post (#4) were all PS players. My comment was that, since there are many UDFAs that turn out to be good, it only stands to reason that there were many UDFAs that made a practice squad and turned out to be good.
-
There are tons of guys who were UDFAs who went on to excellent careers. It only stands to reason there are some practice squad guys who did the same. Quick Google Search: Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila Samkon Gado Matt Hasselbeck I am sure there is more.
-
We can start with Jason Peters.... And the answer has to be yes. Look at all the UDFAs who have made a name for themselves.
-
Probably need someone else to chime in on this...I feel I am more knowlegeble on finances than 90% of the fans out there, so I think I know the answer here, so I'll give it a shot....but might want someone to verify before you take it to the bank. Waivers - Other teams have the option to claim, if they do, they take him and his current contract. If multiple claims exist, team with higest priority gets said player. Released - Current contract is voided, player becomes a FA. Able to sign with any team at any contract terms. In MLB, and I assume NFL also, a player must be waived prior to being released. As far as cap ramifications go, one is synonomous with the other.
-
I agree with Jokeman. I think Engram is the play here. Wouldnt mind burning a later pick on NB, but Engram is my guy for the job. And for what its worth, I wouldnt go near DJAX this year. The guys knee is just too questionable.
