Offensive line flucuations
HudsonValleyBillsFan replied to HudsonValleyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK well lemme pose this question. What if the O-line performs well again over the next few weeks. Not even as well as this week .. lets say reasonably well. Do we still use our first pick on an O-lineman in the draft? -
The offensive line looked better this week. Let's analyze this for a minute. In the previous weeks, the offensive line was to blame for everything going wrong in Buffalo including that October storm. This week, there isn't any talk about the O-line. So what happened this week guys? Here are a few options. 1. The offensive linemen learned to block during practice this week. 2. Chris v. actually sucked really bad and taking him out was what the o. line needed. 3. JP Losman put a spell on the texan defenders and convinced them to not go after him much like Obi Wan told the thos guards that those in fact are not the droids you're looking for. 4. Maybe the offensive line isn't as bad as we thought .. or as good as they looked this week. Maybe the coaches did a better job of calling a game that got Losman in three step drops and on the move more often.

How can anyone not be ECSTATIC
HudsonValleyBillsFan replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm happy with his performance today. I'll be ecstatic when he shows some consistency on a week to week basis. I'm very pleased with jp today but im not going so far to say im ecstatic. I think that is pretty reasonable. -
It's both. The offensive line is not an acceptable excuse for JP's anemic performances. It's very interesting how at the beginning of the season drew bledsoe was playing behind a terrible offensive line. That was supposed to be the cowboys achilles heal. But now Romo is behind the helm and we havent heard that at all. Plus ... if you are worried about Keeping JP upright then stop making him drop back a mile before he throws the ball. Get some quicker-developing plays. how about a screen pass to slow down the pass rush? I think I can count on my fingers the amount of times the Bills have used a screen pass this year. And target the tight end more. Put him in the shotgun more often. Do something different! You have a mobile quarterback who is not supposed to be a statue like bledsoe. If your line stinks, then make adjustments for that. I'm tired of hearing how we need to wait for next year for linemen. Either these guys need to be coached better, or they need to adjust the playcalling, or you need to make a change at the position. But do something different because the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

My biggest problem with this quarterback situation is that Jauron just can't make up his mind. I think its pretty simple. If you don't have faith in your quarterback, then don't play him! If you do have faith in your quarterback then let him throw more than 13 times. It seems like they just want someone in there who will be a caretaker for the bills rushing attack. As far as losman goes, i'm not 100% sure about him because the coaches won't let me be. When you run the ball at 3rd and goal from the 10, how is your quarterback supposed to have any confidence? You are basically saying to your qb that we don't trust you. This is NO EXCUSE for JP who clearly does not perform when he has gotten his chances. And if Jauron feels that way, then JP should not be starting. They just seem to be saying 'ok we will start you, but we won't let you do anything'. What this strategy amounts to is basically that we have a bunch of meaningless games. It's very hard to assess JP on a lot of these games because its impossible to get into a rhythm the way these guys play him. And what is with all these long drops?????? JP is not a good drop-back quarterback right now. So call some more plays that are tailored to his abilities like a roll-out, a waggle, hell even a draw!! But just don't give me this ultra-conservative approach because you're afraid of his mistakes. That doesn't do JP, the team, or anybody any good. The bottom line is that JP is not going to get any better unless the bills let him open it up a little bit and live with his mistakes. If you are not going to do that then bench him and stop dragging this thing out.

QB is not on top of the 'fix it' list
HudsonValleyBillsFan replied to rocketbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good posts. To me the jury is definitely still out big time. And what the Bills have to do in the offseason is get some competition in here next season whether that be a 1st or 2nd pick or a veteran FA. I'm not concerned about how JP will be "looking over his shoulder" he is a professional athlete and that just goes with the territory. If he can't handle that mentally .. then he ain't nfl material. Period. And back to the oline discussion. The Cowboys offensive line was branded as horrible at the beginning of the season .. with drew at qb. I haven't heard that argument the last couple of weeks. obviously the cowboys have better talent than the bills and i know the Bills have a bad offensive line. But ... a good quarterback (especially a mobile one like JP) should make a bad offensive line look better than they are. Instead he makes them looks worse. The point is that Bills offensive line is bad .. but that doesnt take JP off the hook for bad performances... not even a little bit. That all being said .. i have liked what I have seen from him at times. I want him to suceed very badly. But in my opinion he hasn't shown me enough. Not even close. But i think it is reasonable to have him be the opening day starter next year with some reasonable competition. And if he doesnt show improvement we pull the plug on this experiment and dont look back. -
QB is not on top of the 'fix it' list

Good points here. I think there is just a fine line between being patient and just dragging it out. With Rob Johnson, we dragged it out and we are still paying the price. This situation is eeerily similar. Now i don't have the stats and numbers and what not to back this up. But This feels so much like Rob Johnson all over again to me. Its just how i feel. Don't blast me for that. I'm allowed to have my opinion. It feels like that because johnson was always just good enough to keep our hopes alive. many flashes of brilliance with him. JP was decent in the early season but he has just been horrid the last few weeks. So I have taken my deep breath and the chill pill you prescribed and I still have grave doubts about whether or not JP will be able to make it in Buffalo. That is all i kept hearing with RJ. Be patient .. JP has to perform, and he has to perform now, or he won't finish the season. Sorry, that is just how i feel. I truly truly hope he proves me wrong over the course of the next 3/4 weeks. But at some point, there has to be accountability. -

I am so sick and tired of the offensive line being served up as the only reason JP sucks. There are a lot of bad O-lines in this league. And JP is still one of the worst NFL qbs in the league. Stop making excuses for him. He has to perform better than he did today. Plain and simple. -

The page looks nice. However there are a lot of syntax errors in your html which is causing your page to load slowly. Check out this site: http://www.netmechanic.com/products/HTML_T...reeSample.shtml Run your site through that tool and you'll find some extra bold tags, Some missing table tags and other stuff. Each one of these little details are minute but for an ecommerce site every detail counts.

It's people like you who give bills fans a bad name. Don't you understand that there is more to this game than just facing an 0-5 team? The Lions have played well in their last two losses. But you are stupid if you expected the bills to win on sunday and if you place any prominence on their rebuilding status. If you understand rebuilding, then you understand that u shouldn't overreact to getting your ass kicked by the best team if football at their house. It's not like we're the seattle seahawks. Football is about consistency and playing hard and improving each week. Bouncing back froma blow out loss is a big deal no matter who you play. That is what tells the character of the team. looking past the lions and thinking about the patriots is something that unknowledgeable fans would do.
-
The Bears are a great team. The Bills are rebuilding. A 40-7 loss was an obvious setback in the rebuilding process. But I truly beleive this sunday's game will tell us more about the Bills character. Particularly JP Losman who had his first deplorable performance of the season. Will the bears game affect his confidence? Will he pay attention to the media and the idiots on this board and let the critics allow him to question himself? Or will he learn from last week's performance and improve on the things that he did wrong? And the defense. Will they have a good scheme in place to hold down a suddenly explosive lions offense? I can't beleive everyone on this board all the sudden thinks mcgee and clements forgot how to play corner. I have a question for the tape watchers. I know it looked bad when mcgee got toasted for that 62-yard pass but has anyone considered (forgive me if this has already been talked about) that maybe those types of plays had more to do with our rookie safeties than it did with our cornerbacks? Tape-watchers can you tell me if maybe simpson or whitner were supposed to provide mcgee with deep coverage on that 62-yard play? I find that to be more likely than mcgee all of the sudden forgot how to cover a receiver. In any event, I really want to see how the Bills respond to getting blown out. I think that is more of a test than hoping that our rebuilding team will march into the home of the nfl's best team and walk out with an upset win.

Sun Times writer mocks the Bills
HudsonValleyBillsFan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't be so sensative. Yes the Bills are improving on offense but they are hardly and offensive juggarnaut. The Bears have the best defense in the nfl. That sentence is not terrible unfair considering the Bears have allowed 5.5 points a game (I think) at soldier field. The Bills may come out and score a lot of points. But I think we all agree that is highly unlikely.
