  1. If Clay is the versatile piece they want for the offense, I think the money is justified. It's a bit steep, but justified. Now, here is one issue. They really, really need to draft and possibly sign a depth TE who is in Clay's mould, even if he's not as good. Injuries are too frequent in the NFL and the team needs to be prepared for that scenario.

On the plus side, I do like what I've seen of Gray thus far -- I think he could be an underrated pickup -- and maybe they think he and Gragg can cut it.

  2.

Could Adam Schefter be any more of a douchebag?

Really. Not many jobs pay people for talking about a game, either. Dude needs to get over himself.

Meanwhile, the money Borland "robbed" the team of was basically vet minimum for one season, the cost of a replacement-level player, when the guy was at least a "B" prospect in the NFL.

A bit of me thinks that those rushing to disparage the guy are a bit scared of what this augurs for the NFL. If NFL popularity wanes, fewer guys like Schefter will have jobs.

  3. It's a great low risk move.

I do like that we're not BSing around given the limitations. Still like Moore as an option, but at least we go into camp with two guys with 10+ starts, one with some reasonable success on multiple teams, and a bit of an athletic wild card guy. An improvement on prior years where we were touting the merits of Mr. Glass, waiting for Ort-man, praying for Craig Nall, or inflating Brohm.

  4. I couldn't agree with u more but I guess the Bills are waiting for the market to subside. There's some really good linemen still available Joe Barksdale Rt from the Rams hasn't even made a visit yet he was ranked #11 in the NFL last yr at run blocking. I hope the Bills take a hard look at him. We should also bring in Stefen Wisiniewski and Justin Blalock for visits. If we can sign Barksdale and either one of these guards/Center our oline will look real good heading into the draft.

i feel you. Once we get Barksdale in control of the towers, this sh-- is over.
  5. My point was that 3rd rounder will more then likely not be a starter, not make meaningful impact, and even if by some rare chance the Bills find a diamond in the rough. He may take some time to develop and learn his job. Look at last years draft, and notice that the 2nd rounder was so bad never saw the field all year.

I think Mathis and McCoy go hand in hand because both have about the same career life span left in them. If the Bills are building a run first offense, and have the QB to only manage the game. It makes so much more sense to obtain a known quantity then to be "thinking" a player might make a good starter in the draft. The Bills need to fill that OG position to make the run game work, and what better way then to sign one of the very best at his position.

Normally I wouldn't advocate trading away picks, its just that this player wasn't just elite two years ago. He was the very best OG in the league IMO.

It might not matter anyway because i'm reading the Patriots are thinking of signing him. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/2015/03/12/report-patriots-eyeing-trade-for-eagles-guard-evan-mathis/jqUPPtbNehPz3EbhIFBDON/story.html

They can't sign him. They have to offer the best trade.

  6. If Locker played his money right, this could be the smartest move he'll ever make for his health and well-being. If he doesn't want to be there, why should he have to be? NFL football is not all there is in life.

Let me put it this way -- I have more respect for this decision than playing the game and sliding short of a game-changing gain to avoid getting hurt.
