  1. St. Doug

He left us. He can eat a bowl of you know whats.

In response to the original question, there's no coach out there right now that I'm wishing we'd held on to.

It seems like Chuck Knox's tenure is one that shouldn't have ended the way it did. Wade Phillips is probably the obvious answer, even though I agreed with the decision to fire Ronnie Jones. That said, Butler screwed up the cap so badly it's hard to see how Wade would have lasted much longer.

  2. Clearly, your argument is that Jerky is not doing something because he doesn't have daughters. An appeal to emotion, an appeal to personal involvement. A bad argument.

Why would I refute WEO's post?

Actually, the argument was just to act like a human f---ing being rather than some internet tough / wise guy.

I think usually it takes some kind of personal involvement for a jerk to realize he's being a jerk.

  3. So you want my daughters to get raped? Stay classy indeed troll.

If you have daughters, I want you to think about what kinds of idiots are out there in the world to protect them from. This includes people who rush to give the benefit of the doubt to somebody with mounting evidence against them, and people who want to slander anyone who claims to be a victim of someone in a powerful position.

But given your uncanny ability to read between the lines and find something that isn't there, I am not surprised that this went over your head.

The troll stuff is rich, though. A-plus.

An appeal to emotion isn't a great argument.

It wasn't an argument, it was a statement to consider for someone who is making a lot of baseless claims about the accuser. WEO laid out the real argument, which I haven't seen you refute with any authority.

  4.

That's not correct. She is suing the school separately. He cannot be held liable for the behavior of FSU, so she can't sue him for that. She is suing him for damages of a sexual assault.

People either don't know or don't remember that there is a witness to this alleged attack. One of Winston's team mates was there. She says this person heard her say "no". She says this person told Winston, essentially, to stop. This person also then wrote on Facebook about what a bad thing he had just seen. He later removed the post. The event was also videtaped on a phone, which was subsequently erased.

All of these people will be subpoenaed and likely deposed. So will the cop who investigated and all of the FSU employees who she reported to as well as the hospital employees and all of her friends who she discussed this with right after the alleged attack.

So far Winston has faced no questioning of any kind ever. Not by the cops, not by the DA, not by anyone at FSU. Yet despite not actually saying anything, this redneck ex-judge at the school hearing concluded that his "story" and hers were both as likely to be as true or untrue.

To get FSU to their semifinal humiliation beatdown by Oregon, many individuals in postions of authority and presumed high regard had to completely surrender their integrity (assuming they still had some) at multiple points along the past 2 years--from the cops to the gigling DA to the highest level of school administration to the ex judge.

    Thirded.

Hopefully Winston can put this behind him and have a long successful career.

Stay classy, and may you be granted a few daughters to take care of in this world so you can wise up.

  5. The article is beyond dumb because it fails to address why we should trade him? What would the Bills be trying to accomplish by trading EJ?

QB is the biggest need. EJ's contract isn't holding us back. There is no QB controversy in Buffalo so its not like he and Cassel and anyone else we might bring in cannot co-exist. The market for EJ is soft so the type of consideration we'd receive in any trade is modest. So why would we trade him? That article was pointless.

    nail meet head.
  6. I doesn't explicitly say they should trade him so much as it says they would be wise to gauge the market if he does not perform well, or gets out performed this offseason

What would the market possibly be if he doesn't perform well? EJ should at least have a floor of NFL backup for his career, so it would be foolish to trade him when he is more valuable to the Bills than to anyone else. It is not like Matt Cassel has been the picture of health to begin with.

The article is dumb because it makes the strange comparison to Tebow, because Rodak wants all the clicks. It's also dumb because trades require willing partners, and the Bills would be dumping an asset for nothing. I know it's hard to believe but even as a backup EJ is an asset. He has been no great shakes, but people who believe that he isn't at least a top 50 QB in this league haven't watched a lot of football.

  7. So maybe don't act like you know she isnt?

Also I never said she was, I just brought up a different scenario.

    sure thing, sparky.

I really wish I hadn't consumed that 2nd quesadilla right now because this is making me queasy.

FYI, women who want to see a guy more typically don't go to a hospital and get a rape kit the morning after. If you'd worked in an ER and knew exactly what a rape kit involved, you would know that no woman gets one for giggles "just in case". It is in no way a fun process. Humiliating, invasive, and painful.

The timing of the rape kit is a matter of fact.

It's so extraordinarily common for "many students" to "speak out" against a victim of sexual assault or rape by a sports hero that it's become a cliche'.

Do you understand that even if it were true that she were "loose" and had chased other athletes, it really has no bearing upon whether rape occurred in this instance. What matters is whether she 1) was in a state of consciousness to give meaningful consent 2) consented to whatever happened.

If you don't understand this, I suggest you keep to "Rosie Palmer" until it becomes clear. It's really not that difficult.

    thank you.
  8. I don't know why anyone would be judging DeBerg's value as a tutor solely based on his NFL success (or lack thereof) on the field. Most of the best coaches never even played NFL ball. He's probably a top-100 or top-150 QB in NFL history, regardless. Now, the fact that he comes across as shell-shocked in interviews might be a bit more concerning, but even, there are people who are built for being in the public eye, and there are great one-on-one teachers.

  9. Hopefully it doesn't come to this but, if Manuel doesn't show anything this year either will it be time to admit a mistake and move on, or will we be hearing this time next year how it wasn't really year 3 for him because of not playing enough the first two years, or Marrone/Hackett stunted his growth as a QB, and other reasons? I just get the feeling it will be the latter from a lot of people here.

kind of depends on whether he shows growth, stays healthy, and more than anything whether the team is winning or not.

If he has more games like the Houston one, I don't expect he'll find a ton of defenders here.

If Rex and co actually start him and then yank him at the first sign of adversity, then he's done here whether he deserves to be or not. I think this is unlikely to be the case for a host of reasons.

I think the likely scenarios are:

    1) Cassel wins the job outright, keeps it.

    2) Cassel wins it, struggles, is benched for Manuel

    3) Manuel plays good enough but not great, keeps job, possible playoffs.

    4) Somebody gets injured. Hate to say it but you have to count it as one of the likely scenarios in the NFL and both Manuel and Cassel have had a few.

  10. say no to qb's after the 3rd round. they're never worth it. in the last 16 years only two have been good. Sirius had a big segment on this a while back. Brady and Fitzpatrick are the best two QB's taken late in the NFL after the 3rd.

what about Bulger? He wasn't great but he was serviceable.

The good news is that we won't be able to draft a developmental QB in the 1st round this year...

    that actually is good news.
  11. ? The back foot comes up as the weight is transferred to the front foot. In that instagram video it looks like it's a normal transition. I just watched video of Tom Brady throwing and it's the same motion with the foot. Not sure what you're referring to.

there are a lot of budding NFL films analysts here.
  12. I don't agree with this at all. I do not believe that EJ will be a franchise QB like most in here. With that being said there is nothing that would make me happier than to be proven wrong by him. The reason people are "anti-EJ" isn't because of him. He is as likable a guy as the Bills could have possibly added. Everyone just wants the Bills to win and I don't think that anyone cares who is under center when it happens.

I think that you distinguish yourself from some others in your feelings about EJ. Others feel the need to cut the guy down at every turn.
