  1. I suggest we switch this to a question of who will win the #2 spot, Hamdan or Losman. I have broken it all down for you according to my own very specific set of criteria:

    Facial Hair:

    Hamdan: well-trimmed, very presentable

Losman: looks like an early 80s porn star

    Advantage: Hamdan

    Better Photshopped Picture:

    Hamdan:http://buffalowdown.com/2008/05/27/bills-third-string-qb-best-arab-american-athlete/

    Losman: http://data2.blog.de/media/715/1002715_a4c3365c89_m.jpeg

    Advantage: Losman

    Identifying Trademark:

    Hamdan: Oozes with Chroise

Losman: The high-pitched voice of an adolescent girl (only useful if attempting to woo Travis Henry)

    Advantage: Hamdan

The numbers don't lie: Hamdan 2 Losman 1

  2. In a truly fair competition Hamdan would beat out Tom Brady, hands down. The league just isn't ready for a great Arab-American QB. He's only 3rd string because Homeland Security refuses to allow him to be any higher on the depth chart.

In a similar vein, the DHS has also commanded that any pass Hamdan throws that is deep downfield must be referred to as a Liberty-pass, or a Freedom-pass, not a bomb, just to assuage the masses.

  3. I think that incident where he spoke to the police about being treated on fairly was last year, and it was because the car was impounded, and when he went to go get it, they said he couldn't because his name wasn't on the ownership, the dealership still had their name on the ownership.

As for the comment about ratting out the friend, I somewhat disagree, I wouldn't consider them a good friend if they were to do something with my vehicle and drag me into the situation where it could have a negative effect on my career and public image. If it was a situation where they came to question me because of an incident involving my friend and they only came to question me because I knew them, then I would not rat them out if I knew they really were guilty of it, unless it was a serious issue (like they killed or brutally beat someone or a robbery, etc.). But if what they did dragged me into the mess, i would definitly rat them out. I respect my friends and their property, and i expect them to do the same to me.

I'm not faulting you for your views. I personally would just shut up as long as possible. If your friend puts you in a situation where you're getting charged with obstruction, then he's not too good a friend. But until that point, you follow their lawyer's gameplan and clam up until forced to talk.

  4. Nope. Class A misdemeanor. A hit and run is often accompanied by felony charges (e.g. aggravated assault), but in this case given the injuries sustained the DA apparently feels additional charges weren't warranted.

And they COULD have simply left a citation on his car when they found it. "Pay this or show up in court and tell us who was driving." Really, contrary to the histrionics shown here the past couple weeks, no one gets arrested and dragged to jail over something like this. Putting aside the question of the morality of the driver's actions (which I don't defend), legally this isn't much more than a moving violation. Putting it in front of a grand jury is entirely the DA's prerogative...but it's also entirely idiotic. Waste of time and money.

And saying "hit and run should be a felony" is a pretty blanket statement? That include bumping someone's car in a parking lot? How about hitting someone's dog? BOTH are considered hit and run in New York, completely equivalent to the charge the DA's trying to bring against Lynch. Should it be a felony for you to keep driving if you hit my cat? Or maybe you want to qualify the statement a little more, like "It should be a felony to leave the scene of an accident involving personal injury requiring ER attention"?

Doesn't seem extreme for Buffalo's police force, who impounded another one of Lynch's cars that he loaned to a relative for a TRAFFIC VIOLATION. Several weeks ago Lynch and his family had to have a "clear the air" meeting with local police because he made complaints he was being treated unfairly. Am I surprised they are now blowing this way out of proportion? No. This was all in an article on yesterdays front page here.

"most of us would have cooperated with police even if we left the scene of the accident. Which reminds me, when they picked up ML's car from his driveway, why didn't they kick down the door and drag him downtown for a bloodtest and questioning ? I thought leaving the scene of an accident, hit and run were felonies ?

And if there not, they should be."

Things that nauseate me about this post:

1- The speed with which you would sell out your own friends. I certainly hope you have none who trust you. Though, if your personality here is any indication of how you act in real life, you probably don't. <_<

2- Your apparent willingness for police to kick in doors at random and take people out of their homes. I do believe you made a joke about Nazi cops in another thread. Now, you advocate SS/Gestapo-like tactics in dealing with a MISDEMEANOR. People like you are why the government is now listening to our phone conversations sans warrants. :flirt:

  5. I haven't seen so many stereo types thrown around and painting groups of people with the same broad brush in quite some time. Maybe not since the last KKK meeting I was accused of attending. Sheeesh this thread is really funnier than hell.

I'll get back to my original sentiment, sure Marshawn can hide behind all of his legal rights and options and say nothing and skip by this. But by doing so, he loses my respect and looks like another ghetto punk. Well Marshawn, see ya later, don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out.

I guess he can't clear the air because somebody will get the rap for the hit and run, I guess they are to much of cowards to stand up and be accountable for their actions. I guess I'm the bad guy here because I think it's wrong not to be accountable for your actions. Sorry, I guess my Dad raised me all wrong. Sheesh what a fool I am for being accountable for my actions.

Sorry folks, but if your defending Marshawn's actions, your morally bankrupt.

I would probably respect your posts more if: 1) they followed a logical train of thought, rather than spewing feelings and accusations; 2) you quit butchering the English language. I mean come on, I understand a typo here and there, but you actually appear to be ignorant of the rules of grammar or spelling. How am I supposed to take your "well-thought" opinions seriously when it sounds like they're being written by a 10 year old. In short, your argument is petty, but wrapped in a veneer of self-righteous outrage; kind of like putting a bow-tie on a turd.

  6. Nonsense. By bringing up the perception you are creating an excuse for those involved. And then you are compounding the diversion by stating that the rich white guys from the suburbs can't really understand the situation. This is a great old worn out technique of disqualifying a group of people from a discussion. So white suburb guys---just don't pass judgment cuz you just REALLY DONT KNOW......

By ignoring perception, you are making the inference that an entire people group's cultural values are invalid. The issue here was Marshawn's likely inherent mistrust of the police and your failure to take it into account before you tried and convicted him in the court of public opinion. I wouldn't go as far as disqualifying an entire people group from a discussion, unless that group consists of you and Fan in San Diego. In that particular case I'll make an exception and say you should be excluded.

  7. Keep the context of my comment. The scenerio posed was what if it was your mother driving the car ? Then you have a real moral dilema. Throw your Mom under the bus ? Under that scenero , getting a buddy to take the heat looks more attractive.

But lets fous on Marshawn. Are you OK with him being silent on hitting someone and leaving the scene with no reagrd for that person ? what if it was your daughter or sister that was run over ? Would you be so flippant about it ? Probably not.

At the time of writing this post, were you drinking? Let's focus on YOUR lack of regard for the English language. This, I refuse to be flippant about. :D

  8. I like how the standard answer when someone get's cut is "he sucked in _______, why would we sign him?" Does this not seem a LITTLE extreme? He's 6'6 and runs like a mid 4.3. The argument against him playing TE after college was, why add 30 lbs and play with average speed when he's so big and could excel outside. I think that argument is out the window. The problem I have with the guy is he doesn't have good hands. He played QB in college so there's really nothing leading me to believe he can block, so unless he learns to catch soon I see him as a 4th-5th receiver at best.

  9. This whole Lynch issue seems big because everything in small-town Buffalo involving a famous athlete is put under a microscope and dwelled on (I can only imagine what talk radio at WGR must be like). But the accident wasn't as bad as reported. If it was a serious hit-and-run an arrest would have been made by now. A week doesn't go by in serious cases without interviews or arrests. I know this, I clerked at the Erie County DA's office (albeit 9 years ago) during law school. DA Clark's remarks make it sound like this will be resolved, this week, without serious charges (most likely a misdemeanor, at worst).

Thank you for posting my sentiments exactly

  10. Answer: I don't drink and drive, but if I hit someone with a car I would not leave them for dead to start with. No insurance, suspended license....unlicensed operator.....no such circumstance would allow me to leave some stranger for dead in the street. That is beyond F'd up. We all know why he would do it, but they are all the wrong reasons.

Then you are just the bestest boy on the block. Give this man a cookie. This could have been posted in one of the other million threads about this. But no, you decided to start your own self-important thread extolling the virtues of your own character. Give me a break. :D You're all entitled to your opinion. But there is a HUGE difference between posting constructive comments and grandstanding to show everyone how virtuous you are, making the whole thing about you.

  11. You talk about this like it's some kid's hijinks. He's a 22-year-old man, with a (supposed) college education.

He didn't make a mistake - he willfully committed a criminal act.

I truly hope you get caught for every illegal act you commit as well Sir HighandMighty: speeding, changing lanes with no turn signal, jaywalking. Give it a rest, you bore me.

  12. We're talking 3:30 in the morning and you all really think she was just strolling along? Has anyone even considered the fact that whoever was driving, if actually going at a decent speed, could have thought someone was trying to jump out at them and get in the car? You might laugh at that, but there was damage on the side door, not the front, that means she stepped into the path of the vehicle.
