  1. Senator's remarks are most likely shared by a number of posters on this board, though their POV was terribly represented in his sophomoric post. Fact is, Peters is inviting criticism and losing fans for the way he is handling this situation. He was signed as an UFA, taught a position that he knew nothing about and trusted enough to be put in a situation where he could play. When he played well, he was rewarded with an extension. Now, instead of participating in mandatory activities as required by his contract he is huffing and puffing about a new contract, yet the FO claims they were blindsided by this. He seems to be getting some bad advice from his agent. I don't care how good you are, if the fans dislike you, you're going to lose in the end. TO is arguably the best WR in the league, yet he makes virtually no money in endorsements. Why? Because people can't stand the sight of him. Peters would be well advised to report to camp and negotiate instead of whining and pouting in the corner.

  2. PFT says Marino is out officially. Of all those shows the only one I like is Dexter. Watching it on CBS is just sad though, feels like buying an edited rap album at Walmart. If you ARE listing all the series though, isn't the Tudors due one more season?

  3. Have you SEEN the LBs coming out in the draft next year? I have 3 guys (2 USC LBs and Laurinitis) who could all be top 10 picks. Tender Crowell as an RFA and then extend him the next season. If we stand to lose him we take someone in the draft, though we'd have to trade up for them since we're making the playoffs.

  4. I guarantee a playoff berth. I'll bet my profile picture and signature line that we make them. We don't make the playoffs and you can change my sig or picture to whatever you feel like, as long as it won't get me banned from here, for 6 months. Feel like making a fun message board bet? Similarly, when I win, I get to change your sig/picture for the same amount of time.

  5. The apologists will argue, that she was drunk and deserved it ? Was there really a gun? or was it a toy gun, if a real gun was it loaded, so many non threatening situations my head spins. And this is all allegedly since the fiance could be lying to sue him in civil court.

It was not only a gun, it was apparently a POWERFUL gun.

When I read the title I immediately thought DB stood for douchebag and hoped it was Tom Brady getting arrested

  6. I agree, college football is the way to go if you really want to have fun at a game. You want to stand the whole game? Make your way to the student section and you get booed for sitting down. Why not just have a standing section in pro stadiums as well, like in the lower part of the endzone. Make that change and offer those with season tickets there who want to sit all game tickets just to the side of the section. Cause I'm sorry, but it's just as annoying when an entire section is standing and one jagoff has to sit there whining to everyone. You guys act like standing the whole game is a bad thing, that's just ridiculous.

  7. Valid point. I would think (hope?) that security is bright enough to figure out the difference between the "average" fan and someone who's being a pain in the ass, but that might not always be the case.

And if some curmudgeon is sitting in the back of the section, missing the entire game because he's furiously firing off text messages to the fan conduct hotline ...

That's the scary part. Never underestimate the power of stupidity. I expect we will hear several ridiculous stories coming out of KC next year just because some security guy decides to exercise no discretion and boot people for any standing.

  8. Relax I'm sure he wasn't a shot at your boy....

You should change your moniker to #2 fan. Cause half of your comments dump on the team! :pirate: Seriously though, when we get platitudes everyone complains that people are boring, but I would rather hear this bland stuff than have players complaining that the offense needs to change and who should be starting. Not that they can't have those opinions, they just need to keep them in house. I'd rather be boring than have a team in turmoil.

  9. I'm impressed with our depth for the most part.

    1. Very Good Depth on Defense - the way we play, the D-Line will all see weekly action, our LB's have more game experience than most teams, and our backfield is at least average

    2. Schouman has been impressing, Parrish is just sick, and Hardy will start by midseason

    3. Jackson can keep us in a game when Lynch is sitting (already has)

    4. O-Line needs more time but may get it by regular season

Totally agree on almost all your points. I DO wish we had better depth on the OLine, especially at T

  10. The list seems more like a popularity contest than a talent evaluator. That being said. I don't think I would add anyone else on our team to the list. We have several guys I would put in top 5 at their position, but 22 real positions (I don't count ST), 50 players total, doesnt really leave a lot of room for guys beyond 3 at their position.

  11. I think what Obie means is that children may be tempted to think honor, accountablity and responsibility are not important values when their favorite players act this way. Of course, this doesn't mean quality parenting won't overcome it, but it does mean parents have to be more alert than ever in raising their kids NOT to be like the guys they are cheering on the field.

Honor, accountability and responsibility are for sale in today's world as long as you have enough money. That's simply a fact. People get away with things because they have money. Kids aren't looking to become famous so the rules won't apply to them anymore, but they need to be more realistic about how life works out. Basically, you have a choice, like all other situations in life, to teach kids an object lesson when you see things like this happen. Life is not fair. Good guys don't always win. Do I think Marshawn hit the girl, knew he hit her and didn't care? No. Frankly, I don't really care. If your kid is busy copying EVERY action of his heroes, then I suggest you spend more time with your kids, cause it would take a pretty dumb kid to aspire to the errors in other's lives.

  12. I disagree with that point. I think that that is just something society is now using as a way of excusing the players bad behaviours. What you are basically saying is that as long as they do the job they are payed to do, nothing else they do should matter. The thing is, rightfully so, or not, they are in a position where young children will look up to them and idolize them because they are living out a dream that most young kids have. If this is the case, who should people/children look up to? Why should people care that Clinton had sex with an intern if he was doing his job as president? Should kids not look up to the president as a role model?

When you are a public figure, like an athlete, actor, politician, etc. People (especially children) will look up to you and idolize you, looking up to you as a role model/hero, it comes with the job and that great pay.

I figured you would be of that mind, which is why I KIND of agree. If your kid idolizes a moron, it's your job to tell him to look up to someone else, not the moron's job to live up to your kid's expectations. How about we teach our kids too personally admire people like teachers, people who deserve their acclaim. Athletes are commodities and we need to stop idolizing them like they are bigger than life. Teach your kids to aspire to the job, not the person occupying the job at the time.

  13. I disagree, in todays NFL, I don't want guys who are going to be in situations that can give the league reason to suspend them.

They don't have to be choir boys donating all their spare time to feeding the homeless and saving puppies, just stay out of situations that could lead to legal problems and possible suspensions. I don't care if they are the best player at their position, I wouldn't want a guy on the team who is a serious risk for facing a suspension because that talent on the field is useless sitting in the press box/crowd serving a suspension.

Now we can all brush off the reported incidents that happened this offseason as nothing (Lynch "hit and Run", Hardy "alleged gun pointing", Roscoes DUI, etc), but do you really think that the NFL won't be keeping a little bit more of an eye on those players now? These guys won't be considered "first time offenders" to the NFL anymore

And yes these incidents are distractions. It takes focus away from the team when the press is coming around trying to find out about what happened, or the police are showing up to question and they are forced to shut down practice early. Now they didn't end up being huge distractions (except for maybe the Lynch one) but they are still distractions.

I kind of agree. These guys aren't my heroes or my friends. I don't care what they do as long as they show up on Sunday. If their stupidity causes them to miss games, then I have a problem with them. Don't romanticize the notion of being a fan and pretend like we all have personal investments in these guys. If a player plays well and happens to be a nice guy, then they'll probably be one of the guys I root for a little harder and I might buy their jersey. For those who act poorly, I'll still cheer for them when they play well and remain nonplussed otherwise. I assume that all of you out there who have ripped on Marshawn and Hardy all offseason will still cheer when they score a TD. I would venture to say you might even learn not to personally hate them nearly as much anymore if they score enough. Sports stars don't have an obligation to be model citizens or good role models. They owe no greater responsibility to the public. They do their jobs and get paid for it. If some people want to put them on pedestals and then get heartbroken when they are human, that's your fault.
