  1. That doesn't make sense.

    Ryan Fitz:

    5.3 Yard per Attempt

    57.7% Completion percentage

    51.4 QB Rating

    Trent Edwards:

    6.7 Yard per Attempt

    61.2% Completion percentage

    78.0 QB Rating

I dont understand how you can say that Fitz has a huge arm, the guy is averaging a full yard less per attempt (and that is with starting all last year with Ochocinco and TJ Housh on his team). Trent was airing it out all year at the beginning of last year until they started rolling a guy over the top on Lee, and then we had no second WR.

This year we simplified the offense and proceeded to stack the deck against Trent with a young o-line (not giving him any time in the pocket to find his WR) and then installed a no huddle offense that did nothing but confuse that young O-Line.

Also, lets not forget that Trent hit Lee on the exact same pass last week early in the game and someone tripped him up. Fitz checked down as much if not more, and just managed to get lucky and have Lee break one. Edwards was finding his WRs and stretching the field (Shawn Nelson had a huge grab) before he went down.

Fitz is still just a backup and a guy who is serviceable, but he can't stretch the field any more than Trent can. The biggest difference last week was AVP on the field and finally going to a zone blocking scheme. Don't forget trent was 5-5 and had thrown for almost 10 Y/A before he went down with a concussion. Plus his YPA would have been way larger if Owens had caught that bomb against Tampa.

Fitzpatrick is definitely a back up QB and everyone around here realizes that. What people like you have to realize, is that Edwards is also a backup QB. Stop trying to defend his scared and gutless play, I've seen enough of Trentative...

  2. Trent: "We never got into any rhythm. It's frustrating because it goes right in practice and since it doesnt work on the weekends, it's pretty frustrating. We have to get it fixed" "Our headcoach has guys headed in the right direction and can get it fixed" WHAT?!?!

Edwards looks everywhere but inside of himself...

  3. He has been horribly inaccurate for 16 games now. I know you say he only had time to throw on one play but that simply isn't true. He had time on the long throw to Evans and overthrew him (like he overthrew TO last week on the long pass.) He also had time on - I'd estimate - about half his drop back, which I admit is bad. Even so, he's never able to pull the trigger to anybody but RBs or TEs underneath. He started to break out of the shell in the first half with some of those throws to TO but reverted right back to the gun shy QB in the 2nd half.

I can't see the entire field on TV but both Evans and TO are quality WRs and they simply can not be well covered on every single pass play. It's simply inconceivable to think that is the case. Trent simply does not have the confidence to throw the ball into tight spaces - which is what an NFL QB has to be able to do. "Open" in the NFL is a half step and it appears to me that Edwards just does not understand this or lacks the confidence to execute it. Either way it ends up killing the offense. The OL was horrible today, I wont' defend them. The penalties were drive killing. But Edwards, once again, showed the same tentative decision making that have fans questioning him.

    :w00t: Just made one change

  4. We just lot to a team that completed TWO passes against us all game and you start a thread blaming Edwards for the loss.

Your fan knowledge is on par with jauron's coaching knowledge.

Uh RayFinkle... You got the right - the opposing QB completed 2 passes and we didnt win the game!!! If I told you that pregame what would have been your reason for the loss? All falls on the offense and the player that distributes the ball. If you CANT see that Edwards is a big problem on this team, you're HOPELESS...

  5. DJ should be fired alone for not benching Trentative. Sometimes it takes getting benched before a player starts to respond favorably. But then again, I believed that being called out by an opposing coach would make Trent want to throw the ball all over his defense. Too bad Trent doesn't watch or care for football much, his heart isn't truly in the game.

Trent Edwards post game comments: "We just have to keep working hard at it. We had some opportunities out there that for whatever reason, we weren't able to take advantage of. I believe that we have coachable guys and we all want to get better, so we'll keep working at it."

  6. TE is a bad QB right now because the Buffalo Bills FO and HC made him into a bad QB. B-)

I watched JP Losman look better in the pocket playing under Fossil in one game than he ever did playing for Buffalo.

Was it a different league, of course it was, but Losman's improvement was still obvious because of Fossils ability to identify JP's bad tendencies and correct them.

It would not surprise me a bit to see JP Losman back in the NFL next year as a potential starter.

I liked Losman and didnt think that everything that occured on the field was his fault (unlike MANY here have clinged to), but he didnt do himself any favors with making bone head plays at inopportune times. I think, by far, those plays have been JP's biggest detriment as an NFL QB...

What I DONT understand, is how some people here can continue to back Trent Edwards, despite the fact that he cowers at any sign of pressure. Against winning teams, he has shown time and time again that he doesn't have what it takes to be an NFL starting QB, yet many of his supporters here place blame everywhere else (Oline, coaching, receivers, the sun in his eyes). Trentative Edwards SUCKS, it's time to admit that as a group and move on...

  7. I'm neither pro this guy or pro that guy.. I think they've both been mishandled by the coaching staff - JP in particular when considering Mularkey's in/out as the starter. If I had to choose between two QBs that equally can't seem to get the job done, regardless of the reason, I'm choosing the QB that looks down the field and throws bombs. If you're gonna fail, fail big. It was DISGUSTING to see Trent throw a 2 yard pass on 4th and 23 and a 3 yard pass on 4th and 18 in subsequent games. Through my research of Trent and realizing that he never once was overly successful in college, coupled with the fact that he averaged 155 yds/game passing in college, makes me desire JP Losman moreso than Trent. Trent will NEVER be an aggressive playmaking QB. However much you hate him, Losman at times, was just that...

  8. If there is somehow you could get a candid interview with former OC Turk Schonert, I would love to hear more about his take on Dick Jauron's pop-gun offense. But most importantly, I would love to hear how he views Trent Edwards. As a former employee of the Bills, he would be at liberty to discuss, in depth, his true feelings regarding the QB position. As someone who has worked closely with Trent over the years, I feel there is no one better equipped to give an honest, overall evaluation of Trent Edwards, from a coaches perspective. I am not sure that he would be opposed to the interview (blaming Jauron right after he was fired) and would allow him to state his case. Please make this interview happen, inquiring minds would like to know... Thank you,

    Signed,

    The Entire Buffalo Nation

  9. Who in the hell would give up a first round pick for Lee Evans? He's got to be the least productive receiver in the league for how much his contract pays out.

And as far as this thread goes, I'm pretty sure any team could have signed TO, and we were the only squad that bit. So a 3rd for Mr. Owens would be incredibly unlikely.

Lee Evans doesn't throw to Lee Evans. Give him a real QB and see what he does...
