Reid's challenge was reasonable.  It was a huge play that if overturned brings up 4th down for the Bills.  If your only criteria for a challenge is whether it will be 100% overturned, then you're going to throw the flag on the wrong plays.

    It was an obvious catch.

  2. Allen (bc of his MVP run)

Shakir (already a legend in his young career, just love the player)

Van Denmark (stepped up big time)

    Oliver (unblockable today)

    Von (lane discipline was awesome)

Rapp and Hamlin (thought it was their best game as a tandem, by far)

McD (going for it on 4th at the end shows growth; getting to 9-2 after turning over so much team captaincies is really impressive)

I wouldn't count out the Dolphins next year. We just saw firsthand how good that offense is when everyone is healthy and McDaniel is willing to be patient as a play caller. They did anything they wanted to against us, and if they can drag us into a shootout it becomes basically a coin flip game. I still see them as our most viable competition for the next couple years.

I don't think people are giving enough credit to how bad the Pats roster is right now... They're kind of where the Bills were in 2018 but arguably with even less talent, and Jerod Mayo has not been good at all IMO. He's a defensive coach and his defense has been abysmal (30th in DVOA). And it's very unlikely Drake Maye becomes as good as Josh Allen. I know they have a ton of resources to spend next year but they are almost like an expansion team starting from scratch. They will have to make a lot of good decisions to climb their way back into contention. I'm really not worried about them at all.

The Jets are in for a few years of pain. They made a massive mistake trying to go all in with a 40 year old QB. Short term all in teams very rarely work out. The Rams did it and it worked but it took them a couple years just to get back into wildcard contention and that was with an elite coach and very good QB guiding the ship. The Jets by comparison are lost at sea and don't even have a captain. Get back to me in four seasons, we'll see where they're at.

I agree with you.  Miami, they'd need to address the offensive line the right way this offseason - and then they'd need some real luck, because they're always one play away from disaster given Tua's injury history.

    Indeed.

I'm always willing to recognize that this passive defensive gameplan/performance was only one game, against a specific, talented, divisional opponent, and of course THEY WON. But it doesn't inspire confidence moving forward for what games against dangerous passing offenses might look like.

**The Bills remind me a little of the Peyton Manning Colts, in that their defense can effectively compliment a high scoring offense. They don't get bullied or exposed when opposing offenses abandon the run. But otherwise, their absolute reliance on nickel personnel without much beef at the 2nd level (Bernard/Spector, Milano/Williams, Johnson/Lewis), who play behind a DL that doesn't consistently disrupt, and who play in front of deep safeties...this setup can result in cumulative run defense failures. Which can allow an offense to exploit a fast flowing front-7's tendencies with misdirection and play-action and screens. Get the defense on skates.

This is the issue I have with them philosophically.  The defense is designed to protect a big lead, but the offense isn’t designed well enough to go get one.

    Hard to argue with 7-2…but:

McDermott’s devotion to the two high look puts a ton of stress on the front 7.

Cover 1 hammered Taron here but IMO he is not nearly the biggest issue at hand. Guys up front are not winning at the LOS. We need more from the guys in the trenches. It is not on McD to get more from these guys or adjust accordingly.

He will most likely continue to live and die by the 4-2-5…and I don’t think he is wrong. That said, Babich and company need to get better play up front, find ways to roll another hat into the box or bring some movement back to the offensive line instead of passively reacting post snap.

This.  They are not winning enough of their individual matchups up front on defense to truly make a difference against the teams they’ll face in the playoffs.  And who is the emotional leader of this defense?  Who is setting the tone?

It seemed like one of the guards was always going before the snap (not by much)

idk if it was because the silent count was going on but I saw it multiple plays they seemed to always have a jump on our dline

Yes!  What the heck was that?  How was Miami’s right guard able to start every play early yesterday?  Was driving me nuts.

They are going to need to beat one or both of the Ravens or Chiefs to get to the Super Bowl this year and both of those teams are running teams who can also kill you with the passing game.  Not too different from Miami.  They’d better fix whatever the issue is.
