  1. Nice thought but there's no way Pioli is coming to Buffalo ----there's too many teams with deeper pockets that would land him first .. ex. Miami

While we are on the ship SS Myopic maybe the dolphins would take Tommy D and Buffalo Billy for their No. 1 this year ---you can even throw in Bledsoe

But the cupboard isn't as bad in Buff as Miami, and we would probably give him the Pres and GM role. I think this could be one of Ralph's last major hires and he'll go for broke just trying to win a SB.

  2. Ummmm, Steve, Ralph is not the only original AFL owner to keep his team in the same city. I know you say the Felons play in Ft. Lauderdale, the Pats in Foxboro, and the Jets in Jersey, but what about Denver? And couldn't they say that we play in Orchard Park, not Buffalo? Just asking before media outlets get this...

  3. Tater, thanks for offering up the advice. Again, Roth vs. 401k? I'm a believer that the 401k is better, as it gives your money more time to work for you, and there possibly could be tax code changes to make the distributions even more appealing.

Is the Roth better and if so, why?

  4. I have to chime in on this. You people who think you are not prudes and are openminded yet feel that Sheridan's and Owen's spoof of a zany soap need to get a grip. Only prudes and closed minded people would be offended by this kind of fluff. I don't know what kind of porn you're watching but it must be produced by Disney if it only shows the bare back of a woman. I have a feeling it has more to do with social issues but I aint going to go there. Imagine what would happen if Chevy Chase and Richard Pryor tried to do their job interview skit in this day and age of non-awareness head-in-the-sand PC world? Heads would roll in a second. Network TV will be unwatchable in the very near future after all the networks force their shows to pass the politically correct religious right litmus test. Survivor had a man completely naked for an entire season and there was not even a peep. One Nicolette bare back and we are all going to hell in a handbasket. Get a freakin' grip.

Thank you. And the network wonder why their rating keep on dropping. Watch cable and you don't have to worry about this stevestojan.

  5. Assuming you're investing for 20+ years, most of the money you get on the way out will be on the growth or your investment, not the dollars you're actually putting in (remember - compounding interest).

    OK.

It's far more advantageous to not be taxed on the growth (Roth) than it is to not be taxed on the dollars you put in (401k) if the money in the end is mostly from growth.

But, paying taxes in the Roth, I pay at a bracket of 30+%. Paying taxes on the growth in a 401k, is taxed at the long term capital gains rate, 20%. So how is that better, as you are paying a smaller % in the 401k versus the Roth.

  6. But how does it work out better, even without the potential tax code scenario?

401k - Put in money tax-free, let it work for you for 30 years then pay taxes on the way out.

Roth - Put in money after taxes let it work for you for 30 years then pay nothing on the way out.

Wouldn't you want the most money working for you as you could have, even if you have to pay taxes on that money. Thats the Time Value of Money principle is it not??? Am I missing something here?

  7. KD, I have a Roth question for you. Isn't a regular 401k, simply deferring your tax liability, thereby allowing your $$ to work for you over 30+ years. Then why do the Roth, because then you are paying taxes now and your money never works for you compounding multiple interest over years. Sure its tax free at the end, but that ignores the off-chance that legislation will be passed by the baby boomer generation allowing for lower tax rates on 401 k withdrawals (wait till they see what they have to pay, and they have the voting power to get it done). Maybe that doesn't happen but at least with my 401k, I'm still in the game if it does happen, the Roth guys have already paid taxes and are out of it.

  8. I have a very simple solution to a very big problem.....

Fire Tom Donohoe and hire Scott Pioli as President and GM of the Bills. It accomplishes two very important things, hire a top notch talent evaluator and weakens a division opponent. Pretty good huh!!

  9. OK. Reality check. Marv is not getting any younger. Even the other geniuses Parcells and Gibbs are having problems.

To think that Marv can turn this team and provide 5+ years of service is pure fiction.

I couldn't disagree more. The difference between Marv and those guys is that those guys are/were strategists, Marv was more of an inspirational leader. The things that Marv excelled at were building team chemistry, backing up your players, and inspiring a team. Marv was more motivator than X's and O's coach. He'd have to be backed with strong coordinators, but Marv would be the type of coach who could come back and be successful.

  10. Take the Texans +9 vs. the Colts.

I found the best sports book to be in the Mirage, classy and comfortable. Leather chairs and countless TVs.

If you'll be out late Sat nite, might as well just stay up all nite, remember NFL games start at 10 AM Vegas time.

If you're looking for a cool casino to hang at with hot chix everywhere, go to the Hard Rock, lots of fun.

    Have fun & go bills.

  11. This guy is even more negative than ICE...

    Prediction:

    Bills 13, Pats 38.

The Bills house-of-cards gets blown over this week.

Originally the weather forecast called for wind and wintry conditions. Presently the forecast is for sun and temps in the 40s, perfect football weather. If worse conditions are present on Sunday, scoring on both sides will likely suffer offensively and scoring overall will likely be reduced.

Wow, Fug Off jerky!! :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:

  12. Yeah, the priests at ND got concerned because of the fight that happened in the tunnel befor ethe game. The Miami folks concurred, said lets cool it off, and that was that. No big scandal, at least not that I can remember. If you know differently, enlighten me.

  13. and who dropped whom from the schedule? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Actually I think that one was mutual.

I don't think that either team cares if they play each other. Miami has the ACC and ND has NBC. Both are winners...

Yeah and the fans wanting to see the game are the losers. :D
