  1. 1959. http://www.sansabelt.com/ The rubber-like lining around the waistband is older than that. Look at the way men wore pants in the 30's, 40's, 50's in the movies - high above the navel.
  2. As I understand - he showed pretty much zilch in run defense in his rookie year. No? The only BUF game televised here was the TB tilt (btw - after Mitchell's gratuitous forearm into Leftwich's throat late in the game...I remain baffled that he wasn't flagged and tossed... along with Perry's continued blitzing of a beaten club, I made a mental note that Bills' players were going to drop like flies). Byrd wasn't in the line-up then. So I rely on the impressions of others. His words are nice, but if he proves to be a cupcake against the run, wave him goodbye - since they seem to be going back to a more traditional placement of safties in the backfield, I guess the jury is still out.
  3. Please. Racist, exclusively-black fraternity/soroity at a public university. Racist, exclusively-black fraternity/soroity at a private university. Tell me why these obviously racist organizations exist... The government has no business sticking their noses into the workings of the private sector, regarding who or who they do not hire. Unless you despise our Constitution, and the right of the people to conduct their affairs without some regime controlling their activities. Here's some more food for you to munch on, since you play racist politics: http://www.wfaa.com/news/national/94274079.html
  4. The Maybin pick mystifies. If they prized speed at DE, they could have bought GT's Michael Johnson at a much lower price... http://www.nfl.com/players/michaeljohnson/...le?id=JOH000003 His time on in the field was likely the same as Maybin, but he got 3 sacks and 5 pass defenses. He was fun to watch - he absolutely flew into the offensive backfield. 6'7", 260 lb - a nice size for a 3-4 defense OLB - where CIN had been working him at. According to the author, CIN has a "traffic jam" at DE. http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/Batt...b7-0590c3a9f68b I don't know their money situation with Robt. Geathers (he signed a sweetheart deal a couple of years ago), and really hasn't shown much after that. In their D scheme, he does drop back in coverage from time to time. My guess is that if it doesn't unduly bite their bottom line, he gets axed. I'd pass on him. The mentioned Clinton McDonald might be one for the Bills to think about for the PS if he gets chopped. ..which is likely IMO.
  5. I edited the post - added a blurb about their #3 from their '08 draft - TE Chase Coffman.
  6. BUF should keep an eye on CIN's wr cuts: http://blogs.bengals.com/2010/05/19/receivers-bubbling/ They also have Mizzou TE Chase Coffman on the roster. He sat out his rookie season - bum foot, and evidently he has't picked up any blocking skills. Call him a big wr. Since they drafted Gresham, and Reggie Kelly is re-signed, I think he may well get axed.
  7. Heh - I see your Flyers avatar. I have a dim memory - somewhere back in the mid-70's, of the Sabres knocking Philly out of the playoffs in the last or near to last game of that season, whatever it was. And PHI returning the favor and knockintg the daylights out of BUF for years after that. Boy, what a great run of centers back around when the Sabs came into existence - Bobby Clarke, then Gil Perreault and and Guy Lefluer!
  8. ...but as long as I maintain good discretion of the use of language, and don't call "you" the poster anything cruel, then I also will continue the same freedom of blogging my opinion as freely as I intend without acknowledging your suggestion of blogging somewhere else... Keep posting.
  9. Cozy Cole...and Krupa, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIKmhU5Sqg4...feature=related Tap yer toes!
  10. I knew I heard the word, or a close one somewhere. Luke 2:46... "And said onto them, Thus is is written, and thus it is behoved Christ to suffer, and rise from the dead on the third day:" Our poster Owen deserves no umbrage.
  11. Thank you. Please share you observations throughout the college season - it will be a help!
  12. The thing about JP - is that we just *knew* sooner or later, he would launch a laser-guided long-range rocket. And he forked over the goods, from time to time. It was hard to not root for the guy.
  13. I would have paid big money to see a performance that combined Bette Midler, Bernadette Peters, and the late Madeline Kahn on the same stage.
  14. I used to take the bus down to the Aud. If I had some extra cents in my pocket, I'd buy the bulldog edition of the Courier-Express that was hawked in the stands. Also, numerous bus trips to Cleveland, to watch'em play the hated Barons. Here's a site: http://www.bisonhockey.netfirms.com/
  15. Years ago, when my wife traveled on business, I would treat myself to a half-pound of delicious bacon. Saved the grease for other uses. Like pork chops and fried potatoes. Nowadays, I have to take pills.
  16. I never said he was slight. In a post a while back, I pointed out to a poster who thought so, that that isn't so. Others chimed in to corroborate. I'll add that there is a small drumbeat going on among some here, to not "risk" him in the return game. Same thoughts have been voiced about McGee for a while. That, I disagree with. If he proves the best, I play him in that role. No b*lls, no glory. Obviously, he has been keyed on in college games. And now he has to face cream-of-the-crop NFL defenders, who in addition to keying on him, work to neutralize his OL. And defending the BUF OL as it stands is a task best left to the brave... He may be a gamebreaker. We'll see if he does that in the pro game. But if I were calling a D and he proves to be, I'd be sure to try to break his game. The question facing the BUF offensive brain trust is...can they find a way and/or the talent to punish me for my preoccupation? That's an unknown.
  17. But if you're someone who has been a loyal fan of your teams, and you have a good reason for why you became a fan of those teams, I think it would be interesting to talk about them here and compare differences. The Hockey Bisons.
  18. Let's see - you say the Bills don't need a guard, don't need a LB, don't need a TE, don't need a DE, don't need a T, don't need a C. But they need a RB because Fred is 30 years old and Marshawn is iffy. The to-date useless, untested Hardy and Johnson will step up. Right...
  19. The Bills - with Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch under contract, turned their back on these prospects: Thomas, Earl SS Pierre-Paul, Jason DE Morgan, Derrick DE Iupati, Mike OG Pouncey, Maurkice C Weatherspoon, Sean LB Gresham, Jermaine TE Bulaga, Bryan T Hughes, Jerry DE etc. And decided that a 4th rnd wr was all that position needed. sheesh
  20. Spiller has yet to step on the field. If he proves his hype, the opposition will key on him. If that happens, it will be up to the rest of the Bills' attack to take advantage. And we don't know - yet - if they can. Bush has Brees. Tomlinson had Brees and then Rivers, along with a serviceable OL. Personally, were I a DC, I would flatten him hard at every opportunity if he proves irksom - let the rest of the offense try to beat me. If he lines up wide, I have 5 yards to cut him, give him a shiver to the chops or a whack in the midsection. He'll have to go to the middle against me - I'm not letting a fast rb stepping outside the tackles run down the sidelines. If need be, I'll hold him, slam him hard onto the turf (a lesson) and suffer the 5 and 1st. Every team schemes against an opponents' spiff players. Nothing special there. It's just NFL business as usual. Not just offensive players - CIN, woeful as they may be, take effort to knock the daylights out of PGH's Polamalu, and BAL's Lewis. Success escaped them outside of their division, but they have a decent record within. I'm not recommending anyone go out of their way to watch the b'gals - but if you do, you will detect that. It's a treat to watch - the 2 players mentioned above are tough as nails, and the hard hits dished out are highlight stuff.
  21. No pork for Alaska. Most of our corn crop is feed for hogs. As well as a fair portion used for the ethanol fuel scam.
