Help me remember, is this your 8,002nd or 8,003rd Patriots-related doomsday prediction? Start posting quatrains, Nostradamus. In the northeastern-most part of a powerful nation, The one in the hooded sweatshirt will fall. So too will the the passer of the oblong, He who will be revealed as a system QB. -
The best part of Bush's speech last night
Hollywood Donahoe replied to JarHeadJim's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Nice strawman. No one has ever said that Iraq was responsible for 9/11. After 9/11, the Bush administration declared war on Islamofascist terrorism wherever it existed. That includes Iraq. We had the legal authority to invade Iraq because of Iraq's violations of the '91 cease-fire. To my knowledge, no such ituation exists with Saudi Arabia. -

(OT) Review: Episode III Revenge of the Sith

The highest authority on the subject says 1-6. But if you insist on watching them out of order, I recommend 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6. -
(OT) Review: Episode III Revenge of the Sith

It's Anakin. He destroys the Sith by killing the Emperor. That's all EU junk. As far as the Canon is concerned, Palpatine dies in ROTJ. Anakin dies from Papatine's lightning, not from anything Luke did. -

It could just be that he doesn't consider Leia a viable option. Why? I don't know. Besides, there's no guarantee that that line is about Leia. Yoda could've been talking about Anakin. -

I agree. The following exhange between Vader and Obi-Wan is the one that some people seem to be taking as a poltical message: I guess the supposed implication is that President Bush is too much of an absolutist, just like the evil Sith. Whatever political power that exchange had is lost when you consider that throughout the movie, Palpatine sounds like a liberal relativist: So if Lucas is making a political movie, he's managed to portray the Sith as both conservative absolutists and liberal relativists. -
(OT) Review: Episode III Revenge of the Sith

I thought it was super cool when he just shot lightning out of his fingers in ROTJ for a couple of minutes, and now he's fighting in TWO lightsaber battles! Too cool. Good point. This was the first one I got spoiled on, because I already knew the plot. I'm certain that my spoilage will not detract from my experience at all. Reading it and seeing it are two completely different animals. Yeah, I very much enjoy the prequels. I'm kind of extreme in that I don't really prefer any of the movies over the others. My favorite depends on what mood I'm in. I watched TPM the other day and got a kick out of it. Generally, If it's Star Wars, I like it, so I know I'll love ROTS. Have fun! Can't wait to be doing the same thing tomorrow. -

Do you mean the funeral scene itself? If so, the dialogue I was referring to comes earlier, aboard Bail Organa's ship: Again, I don't know if it's in there, but that's where it'd be. I'm so spoiled for this movie, I knew it'd be awesome in Summer of '03. I'll probably like it even more than most since the Emperor is my favorite character in the saga (which is also why I like ROTJ more than most do, Ewoks be damned). Good thinking on the multiple viewings. I'm seeing it late tomorrow and then again on Saturday. (EDIT: Glad you like the avatar, BillnutinHouston ) -

In the screenplay, Yoda states that Padme should be made to appear pregnant for her funeral so that the Sith won't know that the children were born. Did this line not make the final edit (I don't know yet as I'm seeing it tomorrow)? -

In my opinion, the entire Luke/Vader duel in TESB becomes WAY more powerful when you now Vader's true identity. So you lose the 10 second shock of the "I am your father" revelation, but you gain 10 minutes of tension when you know that the duel is father VS. son, and only one of them knows. -
My One Last Question About "Sith"
Hollywood Donahoe replied to Ennjay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the time, they didn't have the real thing. The teaser trailer was releaed in November 2004 and Jones didn't record until early 2005 (when most of the looping work was done for the movie). The actual sequence of dialogue is from earlier in the movie when Anakin is christened as a Sith Lord and given the name Darth Vader, which is why he doesn't have the mask yet. They just altered his voice for the teaser to better fit the context. Nope. No link, sorry. I got it from a dealer in the spoiler who leaked a bunch of stuff pretty early in production. -

Amazingly enough, that wasn't Jones. It was Hayden Christensen's voice altered to sound deeper and more mechanical. Jones does voice masked vader in the movie itself, though. -
That's abhorent. There's something wrong with someone who'd do that. To Bart, so sorry about your loss. Dogs truly are great friends, and losing a friend is always difficult.

Good. Demanding that your seven year contract be renegotiated after one year is among the dumbest notions I've ever heard of. -

True, true. I suppose I'll take comfort in the fact that the REAL dorks are the ones who quit their jobs to wait in line for a year, all while wearing a home-made Boba Fett costume. (EDIT: No problem, jad1. ) -
First Review -- "Revenge of the Sith"
Hollywood Donahoe replied to buckeyemike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A very good question, and were I not to have the screenplay on my hard drive, I wouldn't have an answer. But I do! The answer is that "destroying the Sith" and "bringing balance to the Force" seem to be used as essentially interchangable terms. OBI-WAN: With all due respect, Master, is he not the Chosen One? Is he not to destroy the Sith and bring balance to the Force? -------------------------------- OBI-WAN: (continuing) . . . You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them. It was you who would bring balance to the Force, not leave it in Darkness. So I guess the Force is out of balance whenever there exist Sith to use it for evil. -
First Review -- "Revenge of the Sith"
Hollywood Donahoe replied to buckeyemike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True, but it doesn't really matter. The prophecy states that the Chosen One will destroy the Sith, and Anakin is the one who does that. Man, I feel like a dork. -

Hollywood Donahoe replied to buckeyemike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
**Spoiler** In the actual movie, Jones does act as the voice of Vader once the mask is on. The dialogue in the teaser and ads (Lord Vader? - Yes Master? - Riiiise.) is actually from an earlier scene when Anakin is knighted as Darth Vader after assisting in Mace Windu's murder (Seen here). It's Hayden Christensen's voice altered for dramatic effect. **End Spoiler** -

Nope (see 2000 season). Again, have fun playing fantasy football and being embarrassed in the postseason.
