  1. As much as I love JJ, I think Shelton comes here only if he is a LT. If we were to franchise JJ and trade for JJ, our OL would consume way too much of our cap. Also, Shelton has been a very solid LT in the past and is in his prime. I'm sure McNally (sp?) could get him up to speed in a very short period of time. As much as I love JJ, he isn't worth $6m+ a year.
  2. Good post. It is nice to see someone injecting reason into this thread.. I looked at the source for the table and while I believe it could be true, I'm not familiar with it: Hirsch, Barry T., and David A. MacPherson, Union Membership and Earnings Data Book, 1997 Edition Assuming this is true, which I am willing to do, I am surprised. That being said, I still do not believe you can attribute all Buffalo's problems to the union culture (not you personally, that is). I believe that the tax structure of WNY is the biggest culprit, among many, for WNY's current state.
  3. I don't think most union members would have much sympathy for those guys. I'm not accusing you of this, but there seems to be some misconception that union members don't want to work and are oblivious to the changing world around them. This isn't the case. Most people want to make a decent, not extravagant living. Is this wrong to want? That being said, this is not the biggest factor that has hampered Buffalo's growth. If this were the case, other areas with higher percentages of the population with union membership would be in worse shape than Buffalo.
  4. This thread makes me absolutely ashamed to be a Bills fan. From the callousness of those who have worked hard AND been fortunate to the general insults, this thread is a new low for the board. Buffalo and WNY in general is and always will be a blue collar, union town. Everyone knows someone who has been affected by a plant closing or a company moving out of town . Get a new job and make yourself marketable works for someon in their 30's and 40's; what do you tell the 57 year old with a wife and kids ready to go to college that has given nearly 30 years to his company? Sorry sir, maybe you should have seen this coming 30 years ago and studied harder. Don't you think that person wakes up and thinks the same thing? Anything you say in this regard is salt in the wounds. I'm happy many of you have found success in WNY and outside of the area. Try being a bit more charitable to those who haven't had the success you have. For those of you who have left the area, I'd ask you to remember your the roots of your community and show a little class. P.S. I'm white collar mgt, work in the life science industry and a liberal Republican.
  5. We needed an average Drew Bledsoe today to have an average game against 2nd stringers. We didn't get it. While there is plenty of blame to go around, he deserves a big slice.
  6. Hehe. Just having a little fun, Bob. I have a great amount of respect for patent attorneys. Good ones are worth their weight in gold.
  7. It is not bad in the least. This is an absolutely fascinating area in which to practice. I would caution that it is tough to break in to such a practice. That being said, constitutional issues arise in a varieties of other areas. If this is truly her passion, I would recommend the best school possible. Regardless of which path she chooses, she sounds like a bright young lady who will be a credit to our profession. Congratulations Dad. P.S. Don't listen to these critics either. Good attorneys are appreciated and respected by their clients.
  8. In general, I'd agree. That being said, if you are top 5% in your class at UB and not a booger-picking moron, you'll have opportunities to make very good money as a 1st year associate.
  9. Bill, it would depend on her goals. If she wants to work in certain areas, her pedigree will be less important. If she wants to work for a "white shoe" law firm in Manhattan practicing corporate law, she is better off taking the year off and going to one of the 14. All other things being equal and if she isn't in the former category, I'd advise her to go to the best law school possible. While there is something to be said for coming out with less debt, the pedigree in the long run is worth it IMHO. As someone without such a pedigree, I'll vouch that it is an easier path if you have such credentials. PS-I in-house and practice corporate law. I go to work every day with a sh---eating grin on my face. The best advice I have for those who take the plunge is to work hard your first year, but remember who you are and that the connections you make can be invaluable down the road. I'm proud to say I drank a considerable amount of booze, watched a ton of sports and made some really great friends. P.S. Steer her away from patent law; they are a weird lot in general.. Merry X-mas
  10. While I am biased (I went to OSU), you do have to take into account the sources of this information. I believe there may be some truth in these allegations, but certainly not to the degree he is alleging. Remember, this was investigated thoroughly already and Clarett has been proved to be a liar....17 times over. I think some people(not you, Bart) forget how far the football teams academics have come since Tressel came in. There All Big Ten Academic selection and overall GPA speaks for itself.
  11. Do they still play football in Illinois? Woody is smiling down on Columbus today......... FU Clarett; you could have been a part of something bigger than yourself. Can't wait to see your face of draft day, sulking all over the ESPN network.
  12. As a Buckeye, I can only say may God bless you and help you with your mental illness!
  13. This is like a car wreck...I just can't seem to turn my head away..
  14. Keep you head up; at least we don't have to watch the Sabres lose tonight
  15. Time to show some class people. If it wasn't for Mr. Wilson, "Buffalo Football" would mean an afternoon in Amherst watching the Bulls get pounded again and again by SW Michigan Parlegal Technical University. Mr. Wilson and his daughter deserve our thanks for not selling out. Bills fans are better than this and you are dragging down with posts like this. It is your right to post stuff like this, but it certainly isn't your obligation. Everyone is frustrated, but lets remember Ralph truly wears a "white hat" .
  16. AGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  17. I keep my religiion to myself 99.99% of the time but the only thing I can say is that there is a special place in heaven for people like you. Good luck and keep us posted.
  18. Now I remember why I don't come to this section...thanks for reminding me.
  19. In all seriousness, I'm embarassed for you. If I were you, I'd remove this and clarify what you meant.
  20. How is it? I'm waiting on it. How is the new stuff? Thanks!
