  1. Three December home games could be a plus if the Bills are still in the playoff hunt.  As far as it being a little cooler and to cold for some, I'm amazed at the winter gear being made today compared to twenty, thirty, and yes 40 years ago. I wish I had some of todays gear 40 years ago. It would have helped sitting in the upper deck, visitor side. Full discloser. I'll be 39 or 61 this year.

Let's not pretend the state and county are going to play hardball. History tells us otherwise.

    https://deadspin.com/5971468/the-bills-blackmailed-new-york-taxpayers-into-covering-84-percent-of-stadium-renovations

Here's the list of events that you can expect from a stadium:

    https://www.usbankstadium.com/events

    http://www.levisstadium.com/events/category/tickets/

    https://www.metlifestadium.com/events-tickets/event-calendar

These regions are significantly larger and richer than WNY, and they still can't get many events! Are a few Taylor Swift and Jay Z shows worth half a billion, or more, in taxpayer dollars? No chance.

The stadium / convention center idea was floated in San Diego and never took off. Completely different facilities that just don't work well together.

Convention market is flooded with convention buildings.

The Stones came to Buffalo and attracted a huge crowd. The problem isn’t Buffalo, the problem is a crap music industry. Building a stadium anywhere with the idea of getting entertainment acts is an invalid reason to build these days. A new stadium will built with the sole intention of corporate cash and seat licenses. It’s all about more cash in the league’s pocket. They couldn’t care less about what it provides to the community.

    Darn right

    Dome.

The former Civic Arena in Pittsburgh had a retractable roof.  It was used like 3 times (should have been used more, IMO).

At any rate, a Dome is great.  Can be used for other things (Niagara Region Final 4, indoor monster truck things, concert, etc.)

Monster trucks are huge with the large immigration population of WNY.

That story applies to municipalities bending over to pay fully for stadiums. It doesn't discuss partnerships where the team owner pays the lion's share.

If you've been down to Canalside, then you know how much that development is being driven by the Pegulas, and the city is reaping the benefit. If the city, county and state are smart, they invest to keep that momentum going.

    Government-smart. What?

Scared me, with the thread title and first few lines, at first I thought you were closing down Hammer’s Lot.

I usually get the "screw this" tude near the end of the season. Last year I did not. So you all get to enjoy my sunshiney disposition another year!

Feeling better after the big fight?!?

    ?

It is a slow process. Still going to physical therapy and next week starting psychoanalysis because of the nightmares I'm having from the best down. Thanks for asking.

  8. My wife and I would like to say Thank You to all who tailgated in Hammers Lot this past season. It was a Pleasure hosting you. A Big Thank You to Mead for his efforts in organizing the TBD tailgate each game. Also a special Thank You to Scott for running Two Bills Drive. Without TBD I doubt we would have been able to meet some of the nicest people and have friendships I would never imagined of.

I think you have no idea what my problems are.

Yes, the NFL stage is used to suuport lotst of causes and things.  But, that's the NFL deciding what they want to do.  Not the players.   The players are the employees, the NFL (and owners) are the boss.  As an employee, you follow the company policies and procedures or you get fired.

Personally, I think the players can protest whatever they want... On their own time.   But that is the key, do it on thier time not the team's.    I don't think they should be protesting police brutality and oppression any more than they should be holding up a sign to buy girl scout cookies during the game.

Lets see what happens on this off season. The players have a lot of down time to address their agendas.

Yeah... was gonna comment about that. I heard he had shoulder issues. Moreover, I hope it heals well and he is 100% come training camp. We need him to make a HUGE 2nd year jump.

Zay played hurt this year. Info came out at the end of the season. I hope he rebounds this season. Mama Jones, her husband @robertjonesLB55, and 2 of Zays sisters stopped by Hammers Lot last year and hung out (ate) with some of the TBDers. Hopefully now that they know were the lot is I'll see if I can get them to stop by for the TBDAHOT. Hopefully Jay Rosen will not be all oiled up wearing his kilt ala Pita Taufatofua that day.

  11. We recently got back from the Baja Peninsula. Couple of days in laid back Todos Santos, Dinner at Hotel California, artsy, surfing, trail riding in the desert, 1 pickup police patrols. A week in Cabo San Lucas, great fishing, Music at Cabo Wabo, tourist trapy unless you know where to go, always haggle, 2 pickups in police patrols. 3 days in Jose Cabo. Breakfast at Tropicana, village square being remodeled, might have had tainted alcohol at a bar, nice surf, 3 pickups in police patrols with 50 caliber machine gun on at least one. Drug war, safe for tourist unless caught in crossfire. Murder rate double of Detroit. Um I think next VaKa St. Martinique or Hawaii or Dollywood.

I had a mole on my wrist that bleed for no apparent reason. Had my general physician look at it and he didn't think it looked bad. Anyways he removed it on my next visit. I got that 4pm Friday phone call a few weeks later to tell me it was melanoma. Stuff happened pretty quick after that and I had a subsequent surgery to make sure he got it all (which he did). So I get check ups yearly now with the dermatologist. SO yes be concerned, take care of yourself and hopefully you have a good doctor.

I go to get check for melanoma ever year. When they freeze something off they warn me it will sting/hurt. Nothing. You want hurt, pull a mustache hair out. That's a hurt!

Clearly the jingles work since y’all have such great recall regarding them. You know the company and what they’re offering.

You're all complaining that the jingles are so well done you can’t forget them. Sounds like good advertising to me.

    Yep

They sure do push the daylights out of that Game Time 550 beer.  Even worse is the spot where the two 'beer experts' are describing the beer's merits and characteristics.

Also annoying is how commercials are now edited, so there's virtually no space between words.  The annoying girl who pesters me to look up Scott Caldwell for my GEICO insurance comes to mind.

Edited to add a commercial for some day spa that  ran during the holiday season in 2016 or 2017 where the ever earnest 'Buddy Schula' was describing the disappointment in his wife's face when he got her passes for a 'lesser' spa.  It was only later I discovered 'Buddy Schula' is an invented character.  Damn near hired Celino and Barnes to sue the asshat for false advertising!

What's next you're going to tell me Sandy Beach or Pat Hammer are made up names!

It’s kinda weird that I haven’t received any response. Did my email go to email purgatory? I’m a slave to the product so I’ll keep emailing and probably eventually call if I have to

I got a new rep. I sent out a email around 6:15pm and got a reply quickly last night.

"La mafia" Is just a condensed version of the word La Familia, which refered to powerful families that held political sway, and controlled vice in a city or region... La familia was who you went to in order to get sh_t done... I personally like the Billsamafia moniker... It's  a family that instead of ordering hits on people, does good things... Just ask Andy Dalton, and Daryl Talley...

So only those who identify themselves as being mafia donated? Not Bills Crew, Bills Fans, Bills Nation, Bills Gangsta, Bills etc..., Time to move on from the mafia term. All I think about when I hear that term is steve drop the ball johnson.

True - the Mafia in America originally was an organization that essentially helped poor/impoverished immigrants survive.  It did over time morph into what it is today that with a heavy crime emphasis... but this was originally an organization made necessary to take care if it's own people.

What does the billsmafia do to help out in the community. When I go on their web site I see no $$$$ amount listed being donated to taking care of its own.

Yeah, little brick building at 4170 Abbott in OP. It's small but cozy, the guy I rent from is a real cook, though.

I had considered and may still the idea of season tickets. I'd split them with my cousin up in WNY.

A real cook? Your so lucky. My season tickets went up $1 per game

I love how in the radio ad, Bulldog says "Some things, you just to be there!"  Uh, no bull - if you're not there, it's not like you can watch it on TV.

I don't understand how anyone would want to go to this thing every year.  I get depressed just hearing the commercials.

It also seems to me that with this and the golf tournament that I think it's all for their profit.  And, I think most people think it's for charity...........I could be wrong on both counts, but I don't think so.

I dislike ads that say A portion of the precedes will be donated to ....,fill in the charity. What %? I used to volunteer at a event that used that line. Went on to their web site and could never find how much was donated.
