    It also reinforces the narrative that you can't trust leaders. My mother who is 76 years old bought masks in February when everyone was saying that it wasn't necessary because Italian women born during fascism know never to trust their leaders and she was proven right.

    If any of the previous hotspots such as NYC, Milan or Montreal begin to have spikes then I'd be worried but these are all areas that were never hit earlier so this is effectively their first wave.
