    This actually reminds me more of the Chris Pronger incident where he took a shot to the chest that stopped his heart, tracks with Higgins helmet to the chest. The silver lining is that, once restarted, the heart is usually fine and Pronger went on to play a long time after the incident even.

    I was thinking about that and Aaron Williams and even Shazier, the difference being none of those guy were down on the field with no breathing and no heartbeat which is the only reason you'd be getting CPR. All those games continued. This is an order of magnitude beyond those situations.

    it's not just like the old Patriots where they commit penalties all over the field and never get called, the Chiefs also get calls against the other team that aren't actually committed. The NFL treats the Chiefs like Lil Bessie treats Levon Helm.

    Manuel had physical talent. He could throw the JA17 patented deep over 25 yards downfield outside the numbers. The problem was he could only do it in preseason against basic defenses. He got confused and rattled awfully easily, just couldn't make the reads or process the game fast enough.

    The Athletic (subscribe today, become an Athletic Supporter!) had some ludicrous explanation that KC should be #1 in power rankings because they'd be the #1 seed if the Bills don't win out. Sounds like they've already got Monday Night chalked up for the Bengals.

    I think it's just who they are. I mean, it did make it a much more makeable 25-yard field goal attempt rather than a 28-yarder. Or heaven forbid a 35-yarder if you get sacked there.

    This is the other thing about "why isn't Herbert doing better than he looks like he should be doing" is, he constantly checks down on 3rd-and-need-it. He'll get it on 4th down a lot though.
