I wish a knew how. It is not simple (even though someone said he could stop it in one day). More military aid to Ukraine and more sanctions/pressure on Russia/Putin is a good start. Rewarding Putin and allowing him to keep building the Russian military is nothing but encouragement and a temporary end to an unavoidable future of continued invasions. I am anti-war. I used to think Sweden should invest less in military/defense (we have not been in a war since 1814 vs our beloved little neighbour Noway). I was wrong. Europe has allowed this to happen by not investing enough in military defense. Europe therefore need help to stop Putin. No other nations but the US can offer this help. Well China could but that is never going to happen.

So let's make sure Russia loses this war? I am glad Hitler was stopped. Putin also need to be stopped. I prefer Putin/Russia to not be encouraged to keep attacking other countries. I live alot closer to Russia then you do. So I understand that the argument is less valuable for alot of Americans.

Apart from when Russia (again) annexed Crimea in 2014 when was the last time a Europran country gained territory by being an aggressor? Pre World War II. This might be news for you and Taco; Germany was not awarded territory for being the aggressor in WWII. I do not think a step back to the 19th century is a good step. But each and everyone is allowed their own opinion.

I think Trump is bad yes. However I think the idea of "land swapping" is worse. I don't care who's idea it is. I do not like the concept of rewarding an aggressive dictator invading a neighbouring country. It creates a difficult predicament.

Giving land to the aggressor. Great way to prevent future invasions from Putin. Best plan ever.👌

There is no European press praising Trump. He is hated by each and everyone in Europe. He was before the deal and he still is. The EU will now try and open up free trade deals with other countries to reduce trade with the US. What a win.

I get very confused when I watch documentaries about US criminal cases. I think I kind of understand the jury system, although I would like to know how much input the judge gives the jury prior to the deliberation. I guess it varies. Having heard the things the laymen judges sometimes say during deliberation I would be very worried letting them deliberate on their own. What really confuses me is the appeal system in the US. In Sweden you can always appeal to the court of appeal. And they will try every criminal case unless the sentence was just a fine (or if someone is found not guilty and the sentence would have been just a fine). It seem to vary in the US. Different in different states maybe? All in all the legal systems are very different. Which is interesting but confusing. What kind of law do you practise as a lawyer?

Never on a jury. Do not have a jury system in Sweden (with a very rare exception). But I have tried hundreds of criminal cases as a judge. In Sweden at district courts criminal cases are normally tried by a legally trained judge and three laymen judges. Each vote has the same "value". If it is a split (2-2) there will be no conviction. However at least 90-95 percent of the time the laymen will agree with the legally trained judge. And if not the court of appeal will usually change the verdict. In the court of appeal there are three legally trained judges and two laymen judges. In the Supreme court there are no laymen judges. But they rarely try cases. The laymen judges are elected four years at a time. So no risk of getting called up if you do not want to "serve". Legally trained judges are appointed "for life".
